When I opened the bonnet in the freezing weather the other to get at the dead battery (another topic!), I instantly saw that the washer pipe got broke!
One problem after another.
Anyway, it's easy peasy to see where the pipe goes under the edge of the bonnet to squirt water, but I'm damned if I can see where it goes back to the pump and the reservoir.
I mean, yes, I can see the water filler, but the things seems to disappear into the wing, and there's no clue about the pipe.
The bit that has broken off goes back deep inside the car just where the hinge is on the RHS.
How can I trace it to replace it? (nice rhyme there, wasn't it?)

Hi Tim
I could be wrong here but from memory if you remove the o/s/f wheel and the wheel arch liners you should be able to trace it back from the bonnet hinge.
When i did mine on the VSX i had the Scuttle off so it made life a lot easier.
It actually runs along the inner wing will try and dig out some pics of when i did mine

When I had to repair my washer hose I gave up trying to trace the original and just fitted a whole new length of hose following a much easier route. You will need a non return valve also if you do this.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

I had groped under the wheel arch, and peered here and there... to no avail. Where is the washer bottle/pump?

Well mine is right in front off the drivers side front wheel. If you peel back the wheel arch liner you should see the washer bottle. The pump is on the bottom. If you lay on you back in the snow and peer up under the bumper you should see it. Removing the indicator will also gain you a glimpse.

So the clue here is to lie in the snow... indicates that you mean the liner in the wheel arch as opposed to inside the warm cosy and almost as uncomfortable driver's footwell?
I did have a poke around here earlier on, but of course the sun was at it's customary winter low angle and shining right into my eyes, but I did find a small inspection cover at the front of the wheel arch, funnily enough, so maybe I have more of an idea now of where to find it.
Aren't cars fun in the cold? !

Yes it's behind the front liner, you don't have to take all the wheelarch liner out.
If you do lay under the osf bumper you should indeed see it, there's some pics here in my post when I broke my washer pump:
