Hi all,
I would like to get the remote locking working again on my 1993 xantia 1.9td.
I've seen a S1 remote fob on ebay, would it be possible to programme this into my car?
Thanks

Mk1 IR fob easy - you do need 2 keys though (or 3 if you want more than one remote!). Turn the ignition to 1st position, then hold the key near the remote receiver (the dome above the rear view mirror), and press the lock button a few times. Repeat quickly with an 2nd key if you want. It should now lock / unlock the car.
MK2 RF fobs a bit more tricky - you need a Lexia, and the code card, and then even when you've got the remote coded you need to deal with the immobiliser chip - which we haven't really got to the bottom of whether you can programme 2nd hand Xantia fobs or not (you can't re-do later, eg C5, ones).

Just an update, I recieved a secondhand remote fob today for my 1993 xantia, but its not programming into the car.
I followed the instructions by RichardW but it won't work. Tried it a few times but no luck.
Anyone got any ideas what might be wrong?
The remote fob is a infra red one and a red light flashes when you press the button (so the batteries are working!)
Thanks

Sometimes there can be breaks in the tracks on the circuit board, in the soldered contacts for the buttons and the IR LED.
Thanks, just tried what you suggested and I could see it light up so does that mean it's working ok?

You have to leave the ignition on, there's some deabte about needing the door closed, and some debate about which key position you need to have it in, then turn the ignition off before you try to lock the car. Is it a 2 button fob? Perhaps try the other button - or both. Try a few more combos before you give up!
