Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Our Berlingo has developed a noise at low revs, tickover and just above, which disappears at higher revs, the engine gets quite a lot quieter above about 1500 rpm. Might best be described as a drumming noise, putting the metal end of a large screwdriver on various bits of the engine with the handle end to my ear has not helped isolate it.

All back together now - man who knows had to machine the auxiliary belt pulley a bit to take out the wear and the noise. Did 1200 km towing small caravan and carrying 2 / 3 mopeds over the weekend and all was well.
Bloke who repaired it reckoned it was a pretty poor bit of design by the engine men at Citroen / Peugeot.
Still its all done and...

As above,Got a loud rattle around the serpentine belt area..fed up smiley...Thought it was a cold/sticking valve etc,as it seemd to clear up on a short drive (2 mile),but on tickover,it's rattling,loudish.Sounds like an old ford tappet sound,when the cam's gone..

Spent the weekend replacing back plastic control unit but struggling to get correct height setting. Is it just a matter of moving the controll unit a few millimeters one way or other or is there a more sophisticated way

you cant adjust either of the hights whilst the wheels are of the ground, because to set them you need to take mesurements from the sub frame to the exact point the tyres are sitting on (the ground),

that is if you have made 1005 certain the hight corrector mechanisum's fully freed off , otherwise they could be bindding and hollding the hight at...

OK I'm lazy and it's raining.

So just reading through the handbook for my C5 and a qusetion popped into my head about the Tyre Pressure monitors.

Citroen don't tell you a pressure just that the Tyre pressure is OK .

So my question is what tolerance does the system give? My normal tyre pressure is 35psi at what pressure will it alarm?

Hi All
My 2.1 TD has,ever since i got it always sank quite quickly and it was always on the to do list.
This weekend i had to replace the other front foglight and so put car into high whilst i removed the bumper.trouble was after about half an hour the front had sunk but the rear stayed on high.Cant seem to see any external leaks and the lhm level...

Colin, I'm a bit late into it here but unless you have replaced the cables in your ownership, I'd say the cables are binding. Their outer often split where they go through the last guide ring and all the steering movement just hastens it. Water gets in, the inner splits and bingo! Tight cables.

Well as you can see the Xantia has gone to which I may add, I and my family are gutted to say the least. But due to a number of things going wrong we decided it was time for a change. So we have got a Picasso which we are slowly warming to but I do miss that suspension. Anyway quick question the Picasso comes with a Plipper key and a normal key....

hi guys, just in case anyone knows this stuff. speedo on my 2.2Hdi is broken, i imagine i have a common problem which is the tiny plastic knob inside the little electric motor has broken off, i tried to fix it by inserting a cut down piece of metal but it is obviously not precise enough to get the cogs to turn correctly. on a certain website a guy...

just in case this helps anyone, i fixed my speedo by buying a set of clocks from a 2.0 manual c5 and robbing the small motors from the inside, they just push fit straight in and then replace clocks and it all works fine. anyone with similar problem, i would suggest buying any citroen/peugeot clocks from a scrappy as they all seem to have these...

NOT SUSPENSION ONES!!

Electro valves under the bonnet that controll Vaccumm, for Turbo, EGR Valve and various flaps..

Anyone know how much these are? Car is a 2.2 HDi Tiptronic, 2004, and needs 3 of them..

Nope I cant...

For the cost of the car and the price of the valves, its relativly worth it.

This same thing happend on a Xantia HDi 110, when the Turbo Wastegate Valve failled... The EGR one was warm, the Wastegate one cold..

Swapped for another, both warm, problem went away.

Ive also been informed from a reliable source that they should warm...

Hi i'd also check all the air intake/boost pipework is intact.i had one that had no boost as such it was rubber right angle one on RHD side on intercooler kept popping off.plus if it's leaking you will hear the whistle more.

Hi, just noticed that when i turn off ignition the battery warning light displays!! not sure why or how to remove it, i did replace some fuses other day as central locking/ interior lights were not working, will battery be drained if this light is displayed? Thanks

it appears to be fuse No30 that controls this light on the xantia, it goes
out once removed but light comes on when car is started. regarding the ignition switch if fuse is left in place it stays on until car starts then goes out-wierd :?

Hi,

I bought a Citroen C15 van, its on a 2000 reg (x) and it had no service history.
Its done 113,000miles, drives great and starts every morning without fail.
As far as i know, its the 1769cc (1.8) engine, but people keep saying either DW8, or XUD7 or whatever else there is, and i dont know what to think.
I have to do the CV joint next week as...

quite offten it is not the sensor that fails but the wire fractures, were it is constantly flexed at he arm pivot point,it has been known to cut oppen and repair the damaged wire, then heat shrink it

The 12 v power outlet on the side of the centre console has no power and I cannot find which fuse it is in the handbook - I may have an S1 handbook though and the car is S2 (ebay handbook).

Any pointers?

Hi,

I have noticed that my S2 1.9TD xantia has been making some unusual low note sounds more so when idling, I thought orriginally that it might be something to do with my running the car on filtered WVO.

the revs sound very low once the engine is hot. the low tone rattle/hum seems to be comming from the compressor.

I've used them a few times with excellent results, but if you're in any doubt then a traditional recharge is the answer. The big concern with using a re-charge can is over filling the system which can seriously damage the pump...

Well I heard the sweetest sound at the weekend, a V6 bursting into life and so far running like a dream :D :D Smooth as a smooth thing that's been smoothed with it's nicely cleaned injectors.

I know the pipe you mean. Don't even get me started on split and perished hoses :twisted: Too late, you already have!

That pipe will be the power steering return line and it's a right ballache to replace. It starts where you say and ends in a three way manifold of pipes into the LHM reservoir. It runs up...

Folks, I am again looking for some advice. Last week I had some work done on the car to get it through the MOT. this included two new Citroen spheres on the front. Since then I have noticed that the front nearside has almost no suspension travel. Car is a non-hydractive model.

Am I right in thinking that the status 1 means ON or ACTIVE/ENERGISED?

So if it's showing Fast Idle = 1, the engine should idle normally and not fast (assuming everything is working as it should)?

I got confused seeing Fast Idle ON when the engine was up to temperature but it actually means the Fast Idle has been cancelled due to the way the Bosch pump works.

I am member of RAC but their euro cover is huge. Also saw most limited to 30 days. I wll be away 5 weeks.

Any recommendations for cheaper breakdown cover. Not sure repatriation is as important given this would only cover the last few days?

I have RAC UK until Nov but their Euro cover is extortionate. So have been looking into these guys and am going with them in tandem for the euro cover, which also has travel insurance included. They email back quickly and in very good english. They accept us all and are pan European the insurance is worldwide. Cheap as chips and very very good....

Hi, I have a 1997 citroen xantia TDI and recently the suspension has become really hard. When driving I can feel every bump in the road and get thrown all over the place. I have changed it to high and low settings and the suspension does move but it's as bed (if not worse) in these settings.

Sounds like you have defective or worn suspension spheres. The spheres are gas pressurized and give proper Citroens their characteristic smooth ride. However, after a period of time, these spheres either lose pressure or the internal diaphragm ruptures. They provide similar functions to shock absorbers on 'normal' cars.

Hi,
I've got a problem with the hydraulics/suspension(?) of my xantia sx hdi (w reg)
I can get it to raise to the highest and drop to the lowrider but when i choose either normal setting it only ticks reasonably rapidly.
Has anyone encountered this?

the roads around sawtry are smooth but going through sawtry they are pretty rough badly maintained country lanes. take a bottle of milk with you and when you get there you can have a milkshake. :lol:

Just to clarify, the 'overheat' sensor is a separate function from the gauge by design. :)

You could briefly (assuming it is a single wire) short it to earth and watch for the warning light to appear, although if its for something else that could cause damage, unlikely but it is possible.

When lever in 'normal' position the rear either sits on the floor or slightly higher than it normally would.

yes my xantia has another fault the speedo sometimes works and sometimes dosnt and when it stops so does the mile ometer and trip i was thinking the sensor but where the hell is it what is it driven off and what colour plug should it have cheers guys

What Xantia is it? Each engine variant has a differenet setup.

It is unlikely to be the pump. I had the same issue with an Activa fitted with the wrong Alternator pulling the belt a groove off the pump.

On a 1.9/2.1TD the automatic tensioner is also notorious for causing this problem.

Brake & clutch switches are the most likely culprits. Just remember there will be 2 brake light switches so just because the brake lights work doesent mean it's not a brake switch fault. I belive later picassos may have changed to a single dual function switch, this type has 4 wires on it.

I've just changed the springs on my missus C3 1.4HDi, and I lost a little gearbox oil.

I can see a plug on the transmission, but I think it is the drain plug.

Can anybody point me in the direction of the fill/level plug (assuming there is one!)

hi all i managed to buy that xantia from ebay the winning bid was £315 but the winning bidder didnt contact the seller so he contacted me and managed to get it for £240 what a buy it failed the mot with a broken anti roll bar linkage so i replaced it for £15.87 from gsf it now has an mot just trying to get the tax sorted.

Can anyone offer advise on fitting a bulb in the Clock/ Date display unit of an Xantia Mark 2. Reading the instructions in the Haynes Manual, it all seems like a lot of hard work, removing so much stuff. Has anybody actually done the job & perhaps found an easy way of replacing a bulb.

I have done this jb only to find that it wasnt the bulb in the clock at all the ribbon cable to the bulb is knackered so be careful you could be wasting your time better to buy a cheap illuminated stick on clock from halfrauds.
