I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Following Jim’s advice at the DS Rally on my Wife’s Xantia seized rear height adjuster, the garage I use near Newport Pagnell reluctantly took on the job of unseizing it, with Jim offering to visit them if they got stuck. As it was it was all sorted in a couple of hours.

As I understand it: In the VSX, the standard 6 sphere arrangement, which (I think) I understand thoroughly, is supplemented by two extra spheres, one in each (front and back) suspension circuit,

Hi All,

well, I posted a while ago about the Berlingo making a thunk noise from the front left, or what I thought was the front left.

This noise has stopped, to be replaced by a creak/groan, which sounds much like a worn out bed seeing some action.. :shock: It does it if I grab the arch and bounce it, it does it, and it does it when driving...

Hot melt glue will be fine for this application. Or - if you have one of those realky claggy nasal colds, just hoick an oyster onto the sill and stick your strain gauge with that.

2003, 2.0 HDI 110.

Cutting out , seem accelerator pedal related.

Lexia says accelerator pedal jammed (or stuck, can't recall which)

Drives ok most of the time.

What's the likely cause of this, and the fix please - I'm thinking the TPS is dead or dying..

Hi Gang,

While refitting the hydraulic tank riser after performing the return line modification I've discovered that the 50mm long joiner from the tank top to the hydraulic pump has split: #-o

Not sure if it was already split (I don't think so) or whether I split it while I was fitting the new jubilee clips, as it is very hard and brittle....

cant remember what type but i found it miles easier to remove front bumper and head lamps,
whilst your in there fit new side lamp bulbs, they are the cap less halogens,
check the holders as they melt, if you can find some ceramic holders for the side lamps i would fot them as well

2001 C5 Replacement hydrualic pump - leaking rear suspension

Hello, I replaced a hydrualic pump for a C5, as the suspension was stuck at a really low level.

We took out the pump put a new one in and then pressurised the hydraulic fluid reservoir with a bicycle pump. We had the bleed nipple that is just left of the oil filler cap open to allow the air to bleed....But the fluid didn't move....so we connected...

problem is sometimes it just spins and doesn't turn the car over, I have removed it and tested as follows.

earthed the motor body, put the positive to the small bolt (bottom 1 on the pic) and both the solenoid and starter spin as expected.

when I put the + to the big 1 on the left it does nothing, surely it meant to so something or is that...

ok, changed the starter and it now starts no problem, well started 4 timed in a row, got it from a pug 206, nice and clean motor, can't have done very many miles, motor itself was not as fat as my old 1 but turns the motor over no problem.

I can find masses of references to this, but not the original thread that explains how to do it. I've found alternative suggestions for what diodes to use and the wire colours and even the connector colour (white), but not which connector and where it's located. :?:

stuck with track rods and track rod ends

I've started the job to change the boots that were missing on my steering track rods and rack-and-pinion protector. I decided to change the track rods and tie rods at the same time. However, I've come a bit stuck on a couple of things:

I cant seem to get this off without cutting it.... any ideas?:

It is just a filter, all generic EFI engines must have the same requirements, they are just about all using the same components, the inlet/outlet pipes are different sizes so that numpties dont fit them the wrong way round, measure the inlet / outlet diameters and talk to your local motorfactors, there might be a significant saving if it were to...

Been suffering a knocking for a while I presumed was the torque link mount on the inner wing. Had the bonnet open today and the spanners out (fitting a new stat), so thought I'd take it out and have a look . I think we can safely say it's no longer performing the function it was designed for :lol:

Well, nobody can say you didn't get the full and maximum use out of that bush Richard!!!

I believe the similar one on the V6 has now gone NFP and doubtless this one and the similar Activa ones will be soon so we'll be looking at poly bushes then no doubt..

I know of at least one V6 one that's been replaced by a nylon66 one with success...

You've got the same problem I have on my Berlingo. The bad news is there is no reel connector/clockspring/round connector on these. It's all part of the Comms 2000 unit behind the steering wheel, ribbon cables and it's a pain in the arse to troubleshoot. Where are you? You need to get a Lexia reading on it to ensure that's what it is.

Car juddering whilst breaking

The other day I noticed that if I am in 3rd or 4th gear and start breaking, the car would start juddering. Not sure if it would happen in all gears, but I noticed it most in 3rd.

Any ideas what it could be?

That suggest it could be a rear brake issue. When the car is empty, the rear brakes have very little force, due to the way they are operated. As the weight is increased, the amount of pressure sent to the rear brake callipers is also increased.

My immediate thought too. 'Wedged' rear callipers?

Sorry chaps, memory isn't what it was. The VSX is suffering from fuel starvation and air ingress (before the filter), so I need to start by checking the tank filter.
When I first had the green estate, I checked the filter in the fuel tank. I remember doing the job, taking some pictures and making some rough e-notes; but, I never got around to...

The VSX has a nice new shiney one, but that on the 1.9 weeps slightly. Plan would be to put the new one on the 1.9 once she's back on the road, then overhaul the leaky pump before putting it on the VSX. Can't have a leaky one...

i would prefer to fit new bung seals with the pump still attached to the car, as it holds it far better than a vice,
and most of the time its only the top most bung seals leaking,

hi everyone i have a c2 1.1 with a poor idle/ misfire
i've had i 53 reg saxo beside the car with the same set up and swapped each sensor ,coil, plug etc etc
it left us think the only thing left to change is the ecu which we all know its not cheap if we are wrong
i've seen on a ford a way to test the plug connecting to the coil pack for an ecu...

2005 C5 2.0 HDi clutch & DMF - how much?

I think my C5 is going to need a new clutch and DMF. Very soon.

It all started happening last week, making grinding noise when releasing the clutch pedal, especially noisy in reverse, and then in first when taking off. Definitely nosier when cold and low revs, the sound disappears when releasing the clutch pedal at 1000rpm+. So I can drive it...

Finally had the clutch and DMF done today - it was quite noisy over the past few days. The DMF was in very bad shape, lots of free play, rattling and bolts quite worn. The clutch wasn't too bad for the milage (95K miles), but the bearing was on its last legs.

The best thing you could do at this point is to post up the last 8 digits of the VIN number, so that somebody who knows what they are doing (not I, sorry!) can then look up the configuration, and let you know the factory configuration (which ECUs, etc.).

with cornering lights also and auto levelling, I decided to change for OEM xenon type

Pully size will be the main thing, however, in operation it will work..

Im sure Petrols have a bigger pully to help the drain on the Lower Torque in the petrol engine when the pump kicks in, this meaning the petrol engine wont stall under load! You be suprised how much the pump takes out of an engine..

ok well 2.0hdi fuel pump jammed..replaced hp pump and cam belt...heres my fault codes..
p0230 fuel pump primary circuit...am i looking at the pressure rg on bk of the pump?
p0100 mass air flow...have cleaned but i cant clear the codes
