Car juddering whilst breaking

Post by lazza »

HI

The other day I noticed that if I am in 3rd or 4th gear and start breaking, the car would start juddering. Not sure if it would happen in all gears, but I noticed it most in 3rd.

Any ideas what it could be?

Cheers

It's usually worn front suspension components, like the "P bushes".

Could also be warped brake discs, more evident at speed.

It wasnt so evident yesterday, the day it was occuring we had the car full of very heavy batteries... maybe that could have influenced the braking?

Anyway when i get my car back on the road with it's new track rods and ends, i'll see how it behaves

That suggest it could be a rear brake issue. When the car is empty, the rear brakes have very little force, due to the way they are operated. As the weight is increased, the amount of pressure sent to the rear brake callipers is also increased.

My immediate thought too. 'Wedged' rear callipers?
