information on c5 2008-> headlights

Unread post by josmif »

Hi I would like some information my 2008 c5(X7) exclusive has halogen type headlamps
with cornering lights also and auto levelling, I decided to change for OEM xenon type
headlights and I wanted ask if someone can help me in this transition.
Are they a direct fit plug and play, is there any instructions to give to the ecu in regards of this change?

I will appreciate all help

thanks

Not sure how easy it is, but if you have Hydractive suspension, the whole car acts as the leveller I'm told.
Couldn't be sure, but I think you will need headlamp washers if you change to Xenon. There's also something about the lens being different from Halogen lights. Future MOT 's might be a problem.

Sometimes the change doesn't work.

That's right! The headlight washer system needs to work when the xenons are lit.

Not factory ones you don't. Certainly originals, but fitted after, and as the law stands they must have washers I believe . My son's BMW failed the MOT because Xenons had been fitted and it didn't have washers. They said the lens should be different as well.

From the current MOT test.

Lighting.
Headlamps. Vehicles fitted with High Intensity Discharge (HID) and LED light sources will have a new reason for rejection, "A mandatory headlamp levelling or cleaning device missing, inoperative or otherwise obviously defective."
