Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Trying to find the damn pressostat on my 52 reg picasso 2.0hdi. Want to bridge the connections to see if its at fault for my aircon failing to work. Have so far had the fan running by bridging the 3 fan relays on top of rad, but can't find the pressostat. Had a look through front grill and can find what i believe to be the fan resistor connector?...

OK this may be stange but HELP!!
i have a c5 2.0hdi 2006 estate hadnt driven it since tuesday ewvening,
came out lasdt night but two bags of stuff in boot to take to work today!!
came out today and the doors were unlocked ,but tailgate locked..
got in car to start

Hi I have an 11 reg 1.6 C5 Estate the hand book says the front indicator bulb is a HP24W. My local agent says they are £37 each plus vat and come in packs of 10 as he has never stocked these he is unwilling to stock 10 just to sell one. My indicators are ok at the moment but am making up a bulb kit prior to a trip to Germany via France. I have...

Isn't HP24W a white daylight running light bulb? Yellow would be HP24Y. I think this is actually a typo in the owners handbook, and the same typo exists in the Dutch and German language versions.

Indicator bulbs are PSY24W and you can buy a pair from ebay for £15.

Hi all, just a quick thanks to all that have helped, slowly solving the issues.

Anyone have any thoughts on this one (1994 TD LX Sinker) before I changed the spheres the car car would sink pretty quickly (front & back) after switched off, say an hour or 2. Changed all four corner spheres yesterday and the car now sinks at the front like it used...

Hi Malcolm, it's a 1.9 TD LX 1994 Sinker, just 5 spheres, 90k on the clock. It had a new FDV regulator and hydraulic pump fitted about 3 years ago.

I have a replacement remote plip key cut and programmed etc.

Problem is the key buttons will lock all doors but and will open all the doors except the drivers door which forces me to manually use the key!! defeats the object of a remote somewhat . Have tried the five second key press sequence several times with no change. Tried resetting BSI and...

The Xsara Picasso is not programable for independent lock & unlocking as far as im aware. I highly doubt this has anything to do with the remote, the BSI just needs to see the lock or unlock signal from the remote then it deals with the lock auctuation, it looks like it must be seeing this as the other door locks work.

Hi there,not been logged on for a while as ive had a trouble free spell,anyway ive bought a 56 plate 1.6hdi estate,the o/s wheel is leaning in slightly at the top and have been told that the bearing are shot in the radius arm.
Now im a man of not many tools,ive dug the haynes manual out and the job to remove the arm looks pretty straight...

did you have both arms off at the same time as this would alow the anti roll bar to move about more freely/to much

I had to undo the anti roll bar at both ends to get the job done. I probably could have avoided this by jacking up both sides but I had only jacked up the one side.

Went back to the breakers today on my Xantia electronic speedo quest.

On one of the cars (an R reg series 1 hatch) I found these. They look like they have been fitted recently rather than being the originals. I decided I better get them :)

in rubber on the front shoulder directly beneath where the sphere is attached although
I have no idea if it serves any purpose!

You can't change the lights from RHD to LHD with the BSI, the optics are different. You can change to Halogen by reconfiguring the BSI.
My advice would be to find a pair of 2nd hand Xenons in France. Try searching onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; for peugoet 807 phare.

So having solved one problem two more appear. Well one was there before but not so bad.

Hi All,

I've started to notice a strange noise on the V6 in the last few days which has got me a bit worried.

When doing speeds around 25-30 MPH in 3rd gear (around 1500rpm) if I put my foot down quite a bit without kicking down a gear there is a low rumble that at first just sounds like a throaty intake noise but with a bit more throttle turns...

After changing both ball joints and drop links the previous rattles were eliminated but now a NEW rattle has emerged! It seems to only happen at low speed under braking and I feel it most through my feet on the pedals. Any quick ideas what it could be before i investigate?

Gotta be the A-frame inner rubber bushes?

Changed an early cable driven Xantia speedometer to an electronic one?

My Xantia cable driven speedo is rather erratic and annoying and I'm wondering if this conversion is possible? I know I would need the appropriate dash cluster, a sender unit and the associated wiring.

Is the wiring possible?

Have a serious suspension fault on my C5 estate, had a diagnostic report on the car today which shows steering angle sensor fault -128, the pump runs and corrects the height when the ignition is off and he got the suspension to raise and lower manually with the laptop,.

Question is has anyone else had similar problems, the guy felt it could be a...

One of them is the steering wheel angle sensor and really, if you dont have ESP (which yours probably doesnt) and your is not a full hydractive, then I can't see it causing a problem, certainly it wont cause the problem you have there.

got a consistant drip of engine oil, appears to be coming from where the engine meets the gearbox

pics dont really show much but i removed the lower gearbox/clutch cover plate or whatever its called, the appears to be no oil on the flywheel from what i can see, i can see some dirty oil on the inside of the gearbox.

is the crankshaft oil...

It's not on anything French but no doubt a few French car owners are going through or have had the same problem . My Fiat doblo diesel with the 1.9 Jtd engine needs the front flexi pipe replacing but the connection to the Dpf is very crusty and also the sensor on the front of the flexi has a good chance of snapping on removal (£80 replacement) ....

Thanks for that but the joints on the Dpf are very crusty . I have seen the Dpf's cut open and the cores removed but I really think this one is getting past that point :cry: . I'd rather pay higher road tax and not have all this faff to contend with , my previous doblo didn't have a Dpf and I decatted it and was a great van , having a Dpf fitted...

Got a flat towards the end of a long journey, no error message. Took the offending wheel off and replaced with spare, still no error message.

I though if the sensor was not working this in itself should give me an error message, so it just seems strange that no error message at all through this series of events has shown up.

Hi Guys and Gals. 1994 Xantia 1.9 TD
Boyfriend is quite handy and is about to change a front caliper on my beloved car. We've typed in caliper in the search engine and it appears the REAR Caliper bolts can be hard to get off but NO mention of the front caliper bolts. Are they easier to get off or should I get the elastoplast and TCP out? Also...

not related to my other thread onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; (well maybe indirectly), should their be a clamp on the join or is is welded? pics is the cat to mid section, i cant see how a clamp would create a seal as there is no slots for a clamp to pull together.

Hi Guys (again - lol)
Citroen Xantia 1.9 TD
Meant to ask this question with my my post of yesterday. Changing a front caliper. Anybody know the odds of a repair kit working or are we better just fitting a used repalcement from a breaker's yard? The repair kits seem to be half the price of used calipers off Ebay (£10 as opposed to about £25+)....

Anyone successfully got this working, I have it on my old tough book, but it is way too slow to run the program successfully.
Have unsuccesfully installed on a very powerful new lappy, but can't get it to validate . Had it going once , but won't work now .

the wire mesh gasget and springs etc

when i got my berlingo if had gas leak from the mani-to-cat, having a look i noticed the one of the bolts was lose, tried to tighten it but couldn't, so got another kit fitted and all was fine - for a couple of weeks, its now leaking again! the nuts cant be tightened any more, what can i do? its driving me...

Hi,

I have 1999 V reg Xantia Hdi Exclusive. When I bought the car the suspension was very hard compared to my previous Hdi SX so I thought I would change the suspension shperes so I did the lot. The 4 struts, 2 centres, accumulator and anti sink and changed the LHM and blead the system. What a difference to the brakes by the way! Anyway it still...

Just wondering if anyone knows if a front hub of of a 2.2 will fit the 2.0 diesel c5 both the same year. Also will the maf sensor be the same found a 2.2 breaking near me and need a few bits

Can't help you with the hub but I tried to fit a 2.0 MAF from a 406 into a 2.2 C5 and its to small, I think though that on the C5 they may be the same. You can cross check them by looking at the applications on ebay.

Sorry to do another post so quick but i have just been searching and have hod no joy. Today i had my steering wheel off and plastics for the steering column. after putting it all back on again i now have no dash lights.

also am i supposed to have lights on the gear change (auto) in the centre column or is there only the dash indicator?

Ahh, Sam, I'll bet when you had the steering wheel cowls off you forgot to plug the dimmer control back in. We've all been there...

Yep, the auto selector should be lit up but I believe it's on the same circuit as the dash lamps so fixing one should do the other... If you need to cvhange the auto selector bulb it's necessary to gently remove the...

Done a search and found a pic of the new part with longer spline. How easy are these motors to change is there a pic of where it is located?

Oh and the problem is getting nothing but hot air from passenger side.

I read there were two of these flaps under the dash so which one do I need?

Hi
I'm a new member from Australia with a 2006 C5 Estate 2.2 HDI.
I'm looking at doing a fuel filter change and see they are very economical on eBay from the UK as the 2.2 is fairly unusual here. All the information I've looked at says to replace the O ring in the filter unit. Does it come with the filter and if not where do you get them from...

This depends on the type of engine you have fitted. The early 2.2 shares the same fuel,filter as the 2.0.
I would have thought your engine would be the later version. We could do with a pic of the engine or some numbers to go on.
No doubt a few people here will tell you all you need to know.

Hi could do with a little help. I'm looking for either someone in Scotland that has the software/cable to remove the fap/dpf from my 2002 2.2 hdi C5 for a reasonable price, i can physically remove the items myself or what i need to purchase to do it myself, ie, software and cable etc. any help would be greatfully recieved, thanks in advance.

I had a Marina van, prior to that I had a couple of Minor vans and the suspension set up looked pretty well the same, I think most vehicles of the time had a softer ride, partly attributable to cross ply tyres. :-D

Hi all, another question! I've a 1994 1.9 TD with a bosch pump, when I lift off the accelerator in say 3rd gear, the car kangaroos, it drives perfectly other than when u lift off the throttle.

Which is odd because it seems to work more the other way, I only really noticed that the pedal took time to come back to zero. But anyhow it's very easy to remove.

I believe this was a common problem on early C5s that Citroen later rectified (possibly on face lift models???)
Does any one what the cause of the problem is, if it gradually deteriorates/causes further problems and what the fix, if any, would be please?

right got the arm off and where the bearing was its worn it oval so it looks like im in a need of a new arm,the inner bearing near the anti roll bar must have ran dry as there was bits all over..anyone know where i can get a o/s one cheap and are they all the same?

Rear brakes that is, I seem to remember that the usual advice is to make sure the rear suspension is evenly loaded by jacking under the swing arm of the side being done?

Doing a pad-change, new disc, calliper/arm de-corrode, the thought occurred to me that with the suspension on High for convenience, both swing arms are down on the rebound stops...

If I'm doing work such as you've just done on the rear hubs etc, then I find the small plastic stool that my daughter used as a toddler to be very useful for sitting on- saves the knees :-D :-D

Like the title really.

On the Xantia you have the code inside the bonnet on the bulkhead - nice and easy to identify Poseidon Green instead of just 'green' on the log book.

Is there any such code on the C5? The logbook just says that it is 'grey', well I can see that, even though it is not far from being black, imo.

How can I match the paint if...

Still havent change my rear spheres and it is as much as driving a lorry now #-o it is very bumpy on my rear. But the rear sphere's age were only a year and a half and as far as i know it usually last about 3 years per sphere?

i've checked the accumulator sphere ticks and it is 5 seconds per tick instead of 30seconds. is it possible the...

Changed the main sphere too, the tick is longer but i dont think it is near 50 secs interval. And it ticks sound is longer. Is it normal?

I was never much of a drinker.... but then i spent 10 years living in Devon UK. nice beer and cider. hmmmmmm. now i'm back to Australia again and i have found out why i was never much of a drinker. it's all beer flavoured cordial but tooeys blue, on tap is the pick of the bunch........ and i'll be in Sydney next week so i'll be ale to sample one...
