Eccentric tensioner 8mm hex bolt rounded

Post by Xaccers »

citroenxm wrote:Had that ALSO Xac, the eccentric 8mm bolt appears to tighten itself up!! They dont need a lot of tightening.

I had one, but I didnt use a Torx, I used a SPLINED Bit, which had more "Ridges" on it to grip to the internal rounded edge..
Funny you should mention splined bits, I picked up a set today. One is close in size but just slightly too big. Tried to use a dremel to grind out the hex's corners but the bit wore down too quickly.
Any ideas what I can try next?

F kin HIT IT Andy!!

I put the spline on the adapter, then put a load of extensions on it so its extended past the wheel arch, you can get a proper WHACK on the extension bar and get it to dig in.. Find one that just sits on the Head EDGE.. then after some proper swings it might just go in and grip. Your a strong heafty lad like me, im sure you can get a good swing with the Lump Hammer, BUT be WARNED: DONT MISS the Extension, and smack your wing!! :rofl2: :rofl2:

xac..not sure on the bolt in question, but if it was once an allen head, try a 12point socket on the outside, 1 size under

but you need to WHACK it and watch your wings!

Assume this is the later setup with the awful coil sping tensioner? In which case:

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT
0000575129 TENSION ROLLER 83.95 GBP 100.74 GBP

00006913R8 SCREW 0.59 GBP 0.71 GBP

Amusingly, they list the screw as:

SOCKET CHEESEHEAD SCREW
DIAM 10X150-40

Which is pretty apt, given how soft they are!
