Those haven't lasted long!
Anyone heard of C5 strut tops disintegrating?

That's shocking isn't it? I've seen a couple of rusty strut tops on C5s but not heard of any failures. I'm sure they were posted here not long ago.

Dam hope C5's don't suffer the same. That is really bad considering the C6's are not that old.

It's the only one I've heard of- the thread about it is here:
http://c6owners.org/plugins/forum/forum ... php?7957.0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Looks like it wasn't corrosion, but poor design, and only early cars . Mine had new struts less than 2 years ago- but I'll still be checking them tomorrow...

Re: its not only XANTS ( strut tops )
C5 strut tops were redesigned by PSA to overcome the weakness suffered by the Xantia & XM, especially when the bonding elastomer gives way due to corrosion.
It is possible, when refurbishing Xantia & XM strut tops, to incorporate this fail-safe so any future failure in the bonding wont involve complete suspension collapse.
The C6 strut collapse was down to a critical circlip unseating. Bad design. Wonder what Andre would be thinking about products being made in his name? Revolving?
