Or following Peter's theme, could be rubbish caught between the air con condenser and the radiator which would reduce the air flow.

Andy

Treated mine to a new cambelt, water pump and thermostat last week, with 2 (or maybe 4) new tyres next week. I'd love to get all the door and bumper trims changed, but I think I'll just give it a good wash for now!

SWMBO is talking about replacing the Activa (and to be fair, I'd quite like a C5 diesel estate). But she doesn't drive it, so I'm...

Got it back together - there is something wrong with the bolt on the bottom of the seat belt with the pre-tensioner, as I can't undo it - might be stripped or something inside. Anyway, you can put the seat back together in the car, then bolt it down OK. There belt is supposed to clip into this fitting, but I couldn't work out how to release it.

Curry smell, damp patch in passenger footwell. Heater matrix is leaking. Two ways of dealing with this. First, tip a bottle of K-Seal into radiator & hope leak goes away, usually does. Second, rip out dash & replace heater matrix.

On Xantias & ZXs, Citroen allowed 12 hours. Fastest I've ever fitted one was 4 hours on a ZX, usually six on a...

Hi guys
Ordered one of the boxes Sunday, delivered Tuesday. It was easy to fit and only took about 20 minutes. The hardest part was reading the ID markings on the grey wires, almost needed a magnifying glass, managed with the aid of a torch in the end and then it was plain sailing. Only tools needed, a knife and a flat bladed screwdriver....

Confirmed and it is indeed 160,000 miles.

Maybe not a direct relation to the problem, but I just wanted to share that on Monday I'm gonna get 4 new Uniroyal RainSport3 tyres for my car, 225/55/17 ... They should be the best of the bunch on paper, and I've got the set for a fair price (and the DOT is 1014) ... will let you know how they drive after I've covered 500 km (the average customer...

OK thank you.

Just a thought. Is your car showing the correct outside temperature? If it isn't, then the A/C ECU cannot compensate for this, and the A/C doesn't work.

Yes, it is correct, but good suggestion, thanks.

Wouldn't the best tool have to be a Diagbox (computer/notebook) with the OBD2 connection to the car? I know there are a lot of handheld scanners, that connect to the same connector, but for the PSA group cars, I think if a technician doesn't have a Diagbox package, he's not a specialist ... I could be wrong though ...

Hi

As said, tried it but would not trust it with anything other than a temp repair. On Rads, we would just turn it off with the valve and lock-shield, then de-pressurise....so not much use to us.

In cars, well anything that leaks needs replacing so why not use it.
My ONLY caveat is a leak into oil...??? Some may be tempted to use it without...

Are you looking for something specific, or just general? There is nothing that special about them really - unless they buy an exclusive with air rear suspension - in which case they ought to get it taken off pronto!!

There's lots of pattern ones out there for about £20 e@ or less, quality unknown, Genuine ones are about £35 from Citroen. The genuine ones may well have alignment marks on. As Sparksie has said, the alignment is critical, any bush wont last long if it's positioned badly.
Cheers

There are quite a few versions of filter on these, the most common is like a screw on oil filter & is situated behind the air filter behind the n/s headlamp.
Remove the airfilter lid 4 Philips type screws, and the filter can be seen. Undo the wiring clip that joins to the water sensor in the base of the filter, and simply unscrew the whole...

I didn't have problems with them yet but if I were to find the broken one I would ...
Parking sensor(s) caused service text warning with a sharp beep sound in my car. Until I got the new replacement part I disabled the parking sensors from the button on the lower dashboard. Today I replaced the broken sensor (the one next to front left fog light)...

Thanks a lot ;)

Another curiosity, at xantia 1.8 16v the pressure bearing spins all time when the engine is running, even the clutch pedal is not pressed?

The power steering will bleed itself (as already happened when you refilled the reservoir). Replacing the pipe will be messy as hydraulic fluid will run out of the damaged pipe and the line that feeds it. It's vital to clean off before starting work and to make sure absolutely no dirt gets into the hydraulic system. Check the size(s) required and...

Ten of them ! I have another one in the pipeline but that might do me for this lifetime :)
I did know a couple of chaps that retrofitted AC to a BX a good few years ago, that looked like an enormous job, I am just detailing now, looking for an undertray and some of the moulded front mudflaps.

Sorry  Didn't read the post properly - again.

Thanks for replies folks. Finally replaced after 4 week delay with OEP from Citroen.

There's a 16 pin connector just below the C pillar trim that has a reverse light feed in it, used it a few times for parking sensors. It's been a while but from memory it's the drivers side the connector is behind, if no joy check passengers side.

Cheers Ian. The problem is, the steering wheel was out when they started, and its still out! The other thing is, I'm off down to Surrey this weekend and time is short. I can't get it back to them before I go, and it will be another 3-4 weeks and possibly 1500 miles before I get back. I'm losing the will to live.

Try fabric softener in the wash - they're all claimed to reduce static!

The rules changed in Feb 2014 and the MoT manual ( ) now states:

and all compression ignition vehicles check the presence of catalytic converter(s) and particulate filter(s). The reason for rejection states A catalytic converter or particulate filter missing where one was fitted as standard.

The key bit of that statmenet though is 'spark...

any foreign body inside the case can cause the belt to break or jump teeth with catastrophic results

I guess that having the undershield fitted might help prevent foreign bodies getting where they shouldn't, although my TD has never had one in my 16 yrs of ownership. Also wonder if not having an undershield reduces the life of the auxillary belt...

Our Laguna 3 has the electronic handbrake and it's fantastic on that, never gave any issues at all and would pick an electronic handbraked laguna over a normal one anyday.
For what reason?

Don't you know how to pull a handbrake on ?

Can you not do a hill start with a normal handbrake?

I wonder if you would still be of the same mind if you had...

when i fitted a new door sill to my friends Picasoooo, on cutting the old one off i found all the sill drains were blocked solid, with the same rubberised under body coating citroen coat the underside of there cars with,

so the sill fills with water and in turn rots the sill away from inside out

Thanks to all..I did it today and took 2 painful hours under the car with a lever and some gearbox oil to slide. Hope this stretchy gaiter to resist some years.

I think the early x7 sat nav was the same as the 2005 one. A harddisk based system with a sim card reader instead of Bluetooth.

Local garage says it is the HP pump... I've just bought a new one for £304 - it was either that or a recon one for £325 (with £75 refund when they'd get my old one). I think I got a good deal..

Was happening to my 1.6 vtr facelift when I got it.....it needed to be topped up (a lot ..1 ltr !), the pump also ran all the time on max height.

Over the years since central locking became common, I've had this problem several times. The cure has always been to lubricate the latch/lock mechanisms (aerosol white grease) inside the door. The mechanism becomes stiff (or worn) so that sometimes the electric lock mechanism isn't powerful enough to operate it. Next problem (if it hasn't already...

The spheres can be tested to see if they are still at the required pressure. You need someone with a sphere tester and the spheres will need to be removed from the car.

If hes stuck for A/C im scrapping mine soon 1.9td 97 zanty in e london

Thing is it,s not an easy job to remove the rack, lower subframe and all that. Can I seal it with any kind of adhesive ,or some alternative other than striping it down,

i have not had to remove an alternator from a C15 presumably with the DW8 going by the year,

but if you think it will drop out from below with the oil filter removed, thats what i would do, its easy enough to unscrew the oil filter,

just place a tray under it

ABSOLUTLEY Will, couldnt agree more with that!

Slowly making sense of this. The pipe I had to repair is No 3 from the front.

From this topic here onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; the pipes are identified as

1 - LHM take-up, ‘sucking’, to high pressure pump.
2 - Fluid return from pressure regulator, flow divider and front electrovalve (solenoid ?), from power steering and...

Ask here maybe?

Is this it?

I did open the old pump, to have a look inside, and its a strange setup.. the pump relies on filling up with oil, then there's three Scrapers that when the engine is running come out under centrifugal force from the end of the cam. Then it must do something with the oil to create the vacuum, the oil is drained out lower down into a return drilling...

We tap them out to the next size, though haven't had to do a PSA one yet.
Opel (Vauxhall) and VW seem prone to this and we have a selection of large taps and bungs that works for them.
It wasn't me that sourced them, so I don't know what size/thread they are, though I suspect they're not metric.

I have 5.02 0n the disk that came with the leads but I don't have the patch and activation codes.
It worked fine on that instal until the computer crashed but I can't get anything back off the laptop so just need the patch and activation codes as they were not on the disk.

Hi Mahmoud

I don't think you're comparing like with like, to be fair.
Vw have traditionally made their cars with cr@p fuel in mind, though there are exceptions.
French cars are not famous for their tolerance of such things, though some are remarkably good.
A simplistic rule of thumb would be low power, low-state-of-tune, engines will be more...
