I've recently established that my exclusive HDI has not had the diode mod done and I suspect it may need it. I've come across this on ebay which for an electrical dunce like me would seem to be the ideal soloution. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-XANTI ... 2ea5803ac6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Anyone used this system?

Re: Diode mod E- Crofting
Yes, does what it says on the tin. I've used one on an Activa and my HDi Exclusive. Also did the mod myself on an XM with a soldering iron and about £1 worth of bits from Maplins.
Re: Diode mod E- Crofting
My new V6 also has one, I've just noticed.
I did the mod myself on an XM, it was fiddly and I'm not great with a soldering iron, so I bought the box for the Activa. If you're handy with a soldering iron, it's not the work of a genius to work out which wires to put the diodes on (obviously, I managed it)..
What makes you think it might need it?

Well, all the spheres have been renewed, bar the rear corners which are definitely ok, done the pump o rings, new feed pipe, new known good height corrector on the rear, do need to sort out the front one but it's not bad, new genuine p bushes, front bushes and ball joints and it still seems to be a little too hard sometimes and sometimes very soft.
From what I've read on the forum it seems unlikely that the car wouldn't need the mod so if nothing else it'll give me some peace of mind.
Seems to be pretty foolproof, which suits me.
The feedback is just what I was hoping for so thanks for that, black box now at the top of the car shopping list, head to head with sorting out the front height corrector.
Cheers

Mike, when you say "Roy's little black box"! am I missing something?
I have always understood that it was Brian Pimmer that was responsible for these things.

Yay! I'm going to do a little dance. It's only taken me 40 years.
You're right Mike ...

He is but I had the impression that he sold the E-Crofting boxes too and presumed they were his handiwork.superloopy wrote:You're right Mike ... you're wrong Steve :>) Isn't Brian Primmer the 'stainless steel trim' man?Northern_Mike wrote:I thought it was Roy Mackay?
Re: Diode mod E- Crofting
Hi guys
Ordered one of the boxes Sunday, delivered Tuesday. It was easy to fit and only took about 20 minutes. The hardest part was reading the ID markings on the grey wires, almost needed a magnifying glass, managed with the aid of a torch in the end and then it was plain sailing. Only tools needed, a knife and a flat bladed screwdriver.
Definitely needed doing, the difference is quite subtle but very noticeable to me, reminds me of the old 1.9d and the BX non hydractive cars now, but with far better damping. Will certainly be the first thing I check if I get another one.
Cheers
