Heater matrix leaks, and others, the answer at last?

Post by isisalar »

Hi guys
Came across a new product yesterday in one of the builders merchants I use regularly, now normally I'd poo poo a product that makes such outrageous claims to cure leaks, including a screw hole in a plastic pipe, in heating systems. radiators etc, with no chance of clogging, however, I've been using a sealant/ adhesive from the makers, and a very useful de greaser solvent, and both products are unique and outstandingly excellent. The video for the sealant/adhesive seems far fetched, works underwater, incredibly strong bond, totally CFC free, but it's all TRUE. There's a video for the leak sealer, link below, and if it doesn't work as in that I'd be very surprised. It's called CT1 miracle seal.

No need to use it myself presently, so some feedback from anyone with a leak would I think be very useful for the forum.
Now if they did some for LHM?
Cheers

The problem is with the cooling for an automatic gearbox. According to those in the know, anything other than Forte Stop Leak causes problems with the gearbox cooler.

From what I can gather, the problem with conventional leak sealers is that they all work by holding particles in suspension, over time these particles will eventually settle, and block, small bores like oil coolers, heater matrix's etc.
This stuff would seem to react with air on contact and then solidify.
As I said, no personal experience yet, but the makers have a cast iron reputation for their other products. If they say it won't clog I believe them.
Radweld, Barrs leak and their like have been a familiar sight in motor factors for years, never seen them in a plumbers merchants as leak sealers for central heating systems. That's what grabbed my attention.
Check out the video guys.

As some of you know |I sell Cast Iron Radiators.LOTS of gaskets !

I can confirm this works very well and we could not make it blow untill we had 3.75 Bar in the rad

I have not used it long term however but it seems impressive for a quick fix.

Well, Stickyfinger, couldn't ask for better feedback than that, pressure tested as well!!
That really is a cast iron guarantee.
Have you tried their other products?

Hi

As said, tried it but would not trust it with anything other than a temp repair. On Rads, we would just turn it off with the valve and lock-shield, then de-pressurise....so not much use to us.

In cars, well anything that leaks needs replacing so why not use it.
My ONLY caveat is a leak into oil...??? Some may be tempted to use it without observing where the leak is.

Not used any of the other stuff, if it leaks we bin it or replace it.....but I am 100% sure "Botchit Botchit & Legit" will be using this soon :)
