steering rack leak

Hi
I have a leak on the steering rack ,the leak is on the shaft where the steering colume
connects . there dosn,t seem to be pressure on the seal only a small amount of fluid leaking out . Has anyone any ideas on how I could seal this leak without changing the rack saving me £360 .
C5 110 2.0L 2004 VTR.

Thing is it,s not an easy job to remove the rack, lower subframe and all that. Can I seal it with any kind of adhesive ,or some alternative other than striping it down,
