C15 Alternator removal?

Can anyone help me out here. I need to replace the alternator on a 05 1.9 C15. I have managed to unbolt it but not too sure of how to get it out. I think if I remove the oil filter I should be able to move it across and drop down, but Im reluctant to take the oil filter off. Is there another way that I am just not seeing?

i have not had to remove an alternator from a C15 presumably with the DW8 going by the year,

but if you think it will drop out from below with the oil filter removed, thats what i would do, its easy enough to unscrew the oil filter,

just place a tray under it
