C5 interior questions
Does anyone know if VTR models of the C5 are like the SX and Exclusice and are already prepared for electric seats for the front and just have the plugs sat under the carpet?
I guess this applies to the mk2/facelift C5 as that's about when VTR trim level came in.

I think they all have the wiring in place, if you look under the seat you should see the connectors tucked into the carpet.

Simple answer is YES
IF you source a set of Elec/Leather from a Mk1 they WILL fit into a Facelift but you need to swap over the original Airbags into the seats (easy job)

Vtr was introduced mid way in s1 where they gained a rear wiper. From about 2003 .. (just for info)

Couldnt agree more. Id also go straight for the face lift too will. A far BETTER car and its well worth getting the 2.0 16v hdi. Its completely different to the older 2.2 and a bit more inlet and injector friendly. Looking at one yesterday the inlet looks like it will come off without needing to remove injectors. When you remove the engine cover they initially look the same as the 2.2 but then you can see differences.

That's what I'm thinking, going for a 6 speed 2.0hdi and getting the dpf deleted and guys battered out and egr blocks off

Might have a job there. Egr is an electronic motor rather then a simple mechanical vaccum type like the 8v .. im sure.
Youd also need to have the ecu fully modified too.. id not be inclined to remove any de pollution things either certainly with tightening mot rules comming along.

I was thinking as long as the dpf looks to be there and fine then bashing the guts out of it should cover it
For the egr I was thinking a blanking plate so that it can still open up but won't actually be able to flow into the inlet tract

I reckon the ecu might have a flow sensor in it.. I dont know. Im guessing ...

The only downside I can see with the later 2.0. Hdi is that its emmisions are higher so comes with dearer road tax.

Ah but peter..
the 2.0 16v replaced the older 2.2 so effectivly its cheaper then those to tax
the 1.6 16v replaced the 2.0 8v and so they are cheaper to tax.. the 2.0 16v is NOT an 8v replacment.

I'm sure that there are remappers offering to delete it so that would do me just fine.
I always thought the 16v was just the 8v with a 16v head, and diff turbo/injectors

Nope its NOTHING like the 8v engine at all.. just as reliable thats all.
its a twin cam but the inlet cam is driven by a chain inside the rocker cover. Turbo on the back. One cam belt sprocket .. fuel pump is ON the END of the cam shaft!!!! Fuel filter is where the 8v fuel pump is..
has the 1.6 type injector clamps with twin clamping bolts.. and has the 2.2 type inlet and turbo pipes.
