Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

This refers to Mk2 Citroen Xantia 1.9 TD Automatic with nearly 160 K on the clock.
It recently experienced Crank pulley rubber disintegration followed by slipping of timing belt with hammer drill type noises very quickly followed by no power from the engine.
Well of course to satisfy my curiousity I just had to take it apart to see what happened....

I started this thread recently and whilst it threw up some good information as I'd hoped, it did go off on some diverse tangents, so lets start again.
I have enjoyed the 'floaty' Citroen ride very much in my bx, not quite as much in my xantia lx saloon, and not at all in my VSX estate. In fact I hate it. It's spheres are ok and more than one well...

estate a pal of mine has offered me, not because of the 190k miles but primarily
because it doesn't have a sunroof. The miles don't worry me so much but I tend

Hi all

As you are all aware the front head lights aren't that great and i was wondering if I uprated the headlight bulbs to 100w instead of the 55w standard bulbs, will it burn out the wiring or blow a fuse? Do they also make a differnce? 8-) 8-)

Hello My first post. My Berlingos lower brake lights seem to have stopped working. The high level light is ok. Its the two in the light clusters.

I have checked the fuses. Bulbs are ok. Has any one got experience of this.

get 4 meters of 17 amp cable £3.79 (halfords) and 2 block connectors .break into the blue wire on the connector on the switch above the brake peddle . reconnect them adding one end of you new cable .run the new cable under the fuse box and down the side of the trim . no need to take it off just ease it in using a flat screw driver . run the cable...

Looking on ebay and the net there seems to be a few companies selling them, after the set with a 1 piece rear.

There is options for the grade of carpet, not sure what to go for. Want something easy to keep clean and not fold up and end up under the pedals.

I bought mine from eBay for £32ish, to be honest i wish i'd gone to Autostyle in the 1st place. I've used Autostyle for all my Saabs and my Vel Satis, they're not the cheapest but you can't beat their quality. Best bit is you can specify mat/trim colour and add any motifs you want to the mats, prices start from £30 upwards...

Hi does anybody know anybody in the South Essex area that knows how to change a set of spheres on a Xantia with anti sink? I want to fit comfort ones from Westroen but do not think that my spine would like to drive to Manchester with the way the rear end has started bouncing over the last 2 weeks.

My 2.0Hdi SX is throwing another wobbly, when you change settings on the heater control panel it does what it likes, for instance, if you switch it off of auto it puts the aircon on, closes the recirculating flap and shuts air off to the footwell, any suggestions :? :(

I have a large patch of rust in the rear offside doorjam since I got the car 6 years ago which has been progressively getting worse.
I puhsed on it today and my finger went clean through!!
What is the general synopsis when they get like this ... does other stuff start happening underneath with sill etc?

The edge of the outer sheet isn't welded, instead it's welded slightly further back, so water has a gap to get in. Over the winter etc this pushes the gap open more and cracks the paint allowing it to rust from the edge inwards.
Where water works its way in between the two sheets is where it rusts, so the open space which is able to dry out...

I changed the OE Oxygen sensor with an aftermarket one. I hooked a Lexia to monitor its voltage, it is changed from 320mv to 640mv. The original changed from 240mv to 820mv and it was much more erratic. The measures was taken when the car is parked. Are these readings OK or the 320mv to 640mv range is too narrow ? I guess the response time of...

Does anyone now offhand what container would have held the LHM fluid tucked behind the rubber strap in the boot of a 1993 Xantia when it was new? If you do, does anyone have whatever it is in good condition?

A friend has a 2002 C5 Exclusive SE, recently the heater fan has developed a mind of its own.

The fan button on the dash has no effect and the fan display is showing zero fans, however its on quite fast and the speed can vary.

Does anyone have any ideas what is the cause of this?
Perhaps its the climate control module itself?

I have a C3 1.4 HDi (8HX engine) and have a strange problem with the radiator fan. The cooling fan (rad fan) on the car stays on permanently until the battery is flat with ignition on or off ? Thanks for your reply Lighty. According to Lexia the fan is off so this leads me to believe that some component has blown between the wires and control to fan now leaving it on permanently. I did read part of a post on a French forum which seemed to be about replacing a diode inside the fan somehow ? Anyway, replacement fan is what I've decided...

That is almost identical to my recent purchase Dean, even the same colour, I paid £550.00 for mine but it has done more miles and needs a little attention but it went through the MOT with just a suspension bush. Mine has the undertray missing as do most of the early ones but it does have the wing liners, no engine cover though. I do like that...

My car is a 2002 Citroen C5 2.2HDi Exclusive

I thought it is wise to ask before I do so... so here it goes.

Tomorrow planning to remove the steering and the stalks to reconnect the tape for my trip computer button back to the PCB.

Anyone know where it is?

Simon (Mandrake) is coming round tomorrow with his Lexia, so going to see what it says about the AC evaporator temperature - but need to find out where to plug it in first!

Simon plugged his Diag box in this afternoon - it shows FIFTEEN ECUs fitted - and this is only a mid spec VTR+ without many of the twiddles of later / higher spec cars :roll: There's even one for the windscreen wipers!

Only one fault logged relating to glow plugs, but it starts OK, so just ignore that.

The evap temp sensor appears to be doing...

Hiya,

And so winter begins....

It seems the voltage has stopped being fed to my glow plugs and so I had to get a jumper cable onto them this morning to start :/

Does anyone know where the relay is for feeding the plugs is?

I can hear it clicking but is tricky sussing which one it is?

next to the battery on passenger side - yes, if it's the same as my 1995 TD.

It's bolted to the inner wing, and you have to remove the battery to get at it. If you need to replace it, then should be quite straight-forward

Both of mine are SXs but the suspension seems different, the 2.2 has a sport switch and I seem to remember a centre sphere, the 2.0L doesn't, or at least I can't find one. The 2.2 gives a good ride on the road but not so good over rough surfaces which I understand is due to the thicker anti roll bar, there is also much more suspension movement on...

I was first smitten with the Citroen bug by my 1.9d auto BX which was ideal for the London mini-cabbing I was doing at the time. I just loved the soft ride. Please tell me this is neither expensive or hard to fix but one of the things I really like about my c5 is the auto lights since I work as a delivery driver for pizza hut its very handy not needing to turn the lights on especially coming into the winter. The problem has been that its turns itself on randomly during the day and then off again last...

right fitted a new 2nd hand comms unit today everything works except I cant get the auto lights to go on. I tried covering the sensor but nothing so have I bought a pup or could the prob be somewhere else? Hi There, Can anybody tell me where the crankshaft sensor is on my 1998 Xantia 2.1? I have checked the Citroen Service website by putting in my VIN number and the sensor diagram shown is different from my car. Are there variants of this model? I have a green sensor (coolant temperature I think) on the end of the cylinder block above the gearbox...

Yes, a next step would be a Lexia. Not to read faults but to run the pump through a series of tests, one being its ability to respond correctly to timing signals.

The EPIC pump is a full fly-by-wire...

Check your sent items folder isn't full - the limit is 60 messages for each folder from memory. My inbox filled up and I stopped receiving messages, wondered why I wasn't getting replies for a while :lol:

It should automatically delete the oldest messages to make room for new ones.

If you are like me and are too lazy, or technically weak, then the easy option is to go to Halfords. They will supply and fit the new bulb for a cost of £6.95 (plus the bulb price - £1 or £2). Still cheaper than a garage.

Who would plump for a non-electronic car? I would, and still do with several ancient Citroens and an old W124 Mercedes diesel, all of which are/can be in daily service. The interior fan has gone on my parents' Xantia and I've just had a quick look on ebay to see what's available. Sellers are making a distinction between aircon and non-aircon as well as between S1 and S2. Anyone who has a good Xantia knowledge know if they are all different, and if so whether they are at all interchangeable? Thanks!

A wee update on my Lexia I said a few weeks ago that my Lexia wouldnt connect to the car I have now had it checked against another one and I now know that the Interface is faulty, I have tried to phone the seller and sent e-mails but have had no reply so I would like to know if there is anything else I can do

The C5 has started to have regular but unrelated electrical problems. All different and all worrying!
Just come back from 6wks in France towing a large caravan (reason for buying this car in the first place) - 2900mls with no problems on the towing front - however these are some of the examples which have all gone away by turning off the...

I recently got a ZX Volcane TD which needs a head gasket, and the intention is to repair and have a play.

Plans are to initially give it a good stage 0 tune and then fit a discreet front mounted intercooler, turn up the boost/fuel, remove the majority of the exhaust and then have some fun at the drags and the track swell as the occasional traffic...

i had my old NA diesel BX head gas flowed/ported whilst i had the head off, as my last workshop landlord does cylinder head work for a living,

it made a huge difference even though she went well before hand, she had far more get up and go, and would drive at 30mph in 4th gear comfortably, so in turn she use even less fuel, not really any more top...

Just in the process of gettin a Xantia SX all together and got the ABS sorted.

The rear nearside sensor needed changing... all fitted and the ABS light went out, so moved the car a bit and discovered the ABS was over activating at 10mph.. I could feel and hear the pedal working..

Ive checked the CV joint teeth and the rear teeth and they are...

Well, seems like I got this sorted tonight, had a look at the near side front ABS sensor, as I had fitted one, and had found that the gap between the Rotor and the sensor tip was a little too big.. so I tapped the sensor in a little bit more and tried again.

Result.. Nice steady breaking, with NO releasing of the brakes etc....

Rust in the C cup...

The washer jets are mounted in a black plastic strip that runs the width of the bonnet , its held in place by a clip at each end. My problem is when the two clips have been released the strip is still fimly attached to the bonnet by other hidden clips , do i prise it up with a screwdriver or does it slide onto clips , its very well attached my...

Cassy's jet appears to be a bit gummed up, it squirts in spurts and I have a horrible feeling the pipe may have come a bit loose from the nozzle.
Does the nozzle just pull out?

I have a 2002 2.2 estate. the rear suspension pumps up to normal height but offers little resistance if you sit on the rear floor. you can actually make the car hit the bumpstop by pushing it with your hands!! on the road the mudflaps will trail on road if you accelerate hard.The ride height etc seem fine .Any help on this as no one seems to know.

Im looking to put a couple of captains chairs in my Dispatch (04) after removing my drivers seat and double passenger seat. Does anyone know if i can do this simply? Ideally i want a pair from a people carrier or a mvp so i can use the built in captains swivel plate.
