Hi everyone, hopefully somebody can help point me in the right direction........

I'm currently replacing the diesel particulate filter on my C8, at the rear of the DPF is a small metal pipe which connects to the pressure sensor the official part number from Citroen/Peugoet is 1714J8(particular filter pressure pipe) . Endlessly for about 4 days...

After my recent service at Yeomans Citroen Fareham the car lost power a couple of times for a brief moment, hunted for a while and then went back to normal once it had warmed up. I did passenger side first and plan on doing the drivers side this month when it finally decides to stop raining:-) I think I may have overtightened the main 24mm bolt that the trailing arm pivots on because I occasionally get what can only be described as a 'crack' similar to a rifle...

Hydraulic pump hp pipe - fix?

I had to cut the HP pipe (the one out of the large nut closest to belt) because it twisted upon removal for pump replacement. The pipe union was fused into the large nut, somehow.

So I lost about 3 of pipe and the union. I have a spare large nut with replacement pump.

What's the quick and economical way to replace this HP pipe going to the...

Got only propane and torch with me, no braze, no oxygen, no bits of sleeve and pipe for tail. :-( By the time I walk the many miles here in N Wales, to round up bits, I might as well pay the £38 required for a s/h one I just confirmed as matching part no. Sorry for the abrupt question, but if one had to drive a 1.9td ZX back to oxford from weston super mare, with a failed alternator and dead battery, how would you recommend removing the stop solenoid?

I've asked on another forum, and they say remove the solenoid, jump her up and just dont stall/run out of petrol....

Reverse light strangeness with LED's

I fitted a pair of mega bright LED arrays in the reverse light position, but this seems to have upset the parking sensors which now work at random and sometime beep when moving forward. Guess I will have to try adding a ballast resistor as is required with LED indicator lamps.

It sounds like there is just too much juice going thru to the earth and feeding back into the sensors.

i think the ones that are needed are SMB or ones suitable for CANBUS vehicles as these have the required bits in them to avoid issues like this.

Subject says it all really.. I was working outside in the sunshine .. but its too bright to see under the hub ... so grab a bit of lunch and mover her inside and trya again.. i've tried heat and a cold chisel.. none worked ..I can't get enought purchase on the socket as the hub wants to rotate around the track rod and pull the drive shaft out.....

I think the trick was to use the old nut on the removal socket to stop it slipping off the ball joint as well as using the rachet tie downs to hold the hub.. there was no crack..it just loosened nice and soothly.. I was very surprised ... and relieved.

Thanks guys the belingo van has same washer jets managed to get some from local scrapy 90p for the pair. And seatbelt came from eBay so all sorted till she failed mot yesterday but parts all ordered so will hopefully be a good car again soon rather than the waste it was left sitting for about 3 years.

I would agree with Saab C5, the 8 valve 2.0. Hdi is about the best engine of the bunch, much simpler than the later and 16 valve ones but still capable of 60 mpg driven considerately.

£800.00 should buy you a half decent one off ebay, there are quite a few on at the moment. Give it a good long test drive and make sure everything works.

My 2001 c5 handbrake stopped working a few weeks ago,I know the cables run off the front callipers so I replaced the front and rear pads and new discs on the rear,I pumped the handbrake up and down 5 times as explained in the Haynes manual then it seem to work and be okay,now its not working I can put the handbrake on and the car still rolls,any...

Do the levers on the callipers return right to the stops when you release the handbrake? If they don't it will prevent the auto adjuster working properly. If there are any cracks or splits in the cables give them a good dousing in engine oil, also disconnect the cables from the callipers and work some oil into the ends.

I don't think it should be a problem with an additional screen for the camera input, or if you have one of those tilt screen radios (Alpine, Kenwood, etc.), most of the mid-range ones already support the camera inputs, and they have their own cameras ... the price is arguable though ...

Took my Xantia estate of the road two years ago. Bought new rear discs and pads and Gun Gummed rear box. The MOT advisory items highlighted the three rear suspension interconnecting pipes corroded but not seriously weakened. It was insured before taking for test, now taxed, so one more back on the road.

To be safe, disconnect your battery as the air bag needs to be removed.
Turn the wheel 90 degrees and stick a T30 long shaft in the hole to undo the air bag retaining screws then remove and unplug the air bag.
Be gentle with the ribbon cables behind.
There are 2 triangles on the rotating collar that need to be lined up before fitting the new wheel...

Hi all

Just a quick question, for once!
Arriving home after a long-ish run the other day, I was creeping down the hill outside, waiting for son and dog to get out of the way. I was using gentle pressure on the foot brake to control my descent, as I was going way slower than tickover in 1st would allow.

Cit has no trim level badge, she's just a TurboD , so all the LX/SX/VSX etc not really helping me, at the moment.
Is there a way of figuring out which she is, just by looking?

Thanks to all - crisis averted.

The plastic piece is nicely lodged in the bend of the pipe and the dipstick now passes it without being wiped.

Apparently this is a very common problem and most Citroens/Peugeots have several pieces of plastic knocking about in the sump.

Cheap genuine 283mm brake pads for Xantia

Hi guys

I'm currently looking for brake pads for my Xantia and I just found these, they appear to be pads for 283mm discs, such as estates and so on. Worth a look if you're in the market for some, £8 for genuine pads!

Edit - I only just noticed the postage charge, but even so, £18 is still very cheap for genuine.

Hi,

I've recently serviced my C5 2.2 diesel, changing oil, fuel and air filters, all without any hiccups. However I have begun getting a warning telling me to clean diesel filter, usually within the 1st mile or 2 of joining a motorway. Any ideas why? I have reset the service interval at the time of service.

Any advice is appreciated:-)

problem after replacing lower front ball joint

To day I set about changing O/S lower ball joint C5 2lt est auto 2006. Got the old one out, but very tight! Every thing vent well, or so I thought!
however, try as I might I cannot I cannot line up ball joint with wishbone. they are about 2 apart, Ive moved suspension every way ,removed droplink, removed trackrod. Nothing I do will make it line...

Hi All,

While removing the rear suspension return pipe front to back rear HC to Octopus tubing at LHM tank, I found the following:

When I removed the pipe end from HC there was thin metal wire with the return pipe,obviously reducing the internal diameter but for what reason.
