Dashboard warning on C5

Hi,

I've recently serviced my C5 2.2 diesel, changing oil, fuel and air filters, all without any hiccups. However I have begun getting a warning telling me to clean diesel filter, usually within the 1st mile or 2 of joining a motorway. Any ideas why? I have reset the service interval at the time of service.

Its referring to the DPF (diesel particulate filter) not the diesel fuel filter. Its getting close to being blocked so i suspect you do a lot of short drives which tend to block the filter. The car needs a really good run out to get the DPF up to temperature to burn out the carbon build up.

Many thanks for that The wording on the error message is not clear and thought it more to do with the fuel filter and not the DPF.

Wind the window down and then accelerate hard, if you can hear a hissing sound then the DPF is blocked. Its not all doom and gloom however, its possible to take the DPF off, chuck a bottle of acidic wheel cleaner down it and then use a high powered jet wash to clean all the carbon crud out. Stand it upright to drain/dry for half hour and then refit. My average MPG went up 3 after cleaning it.
