Post by thefrenchconnection »

My 2001 c5 handbrake stopped working a few weeks ago,I know the cables run off the front callipers so I replaced the front and rear pads and new discs on the rear,I pumped the handbrake up and down 5 times as explained in the Haynes manual then it seem to work and be okay, now its not working I can put the handbrake on and the car still rolls, any ideas?

Marc

Oh dear...
Search C5 handbrake cable on here and you'll come up with a mountain of info.

Do the levers on the callipers return right to the stops when you release the handbrake? If they don't it will prevent the auto adjuster working properly. If there are any cracks or splits in the cables give them a good dousing in engine oil, also disconnect the cables from the callipers and work some oil into the ends.
