Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

Hi guys
As per usual, having climbed a big hill with the HDI the last few weeks, today a new problem surfaces to keep me on my toes and no doubt empty my wallet.

Hi all,

My C5, Year 2007 has this problem of foggy windscreen. I never had such problem with my ex-cars of various brands. I’m wondering whether I’m not used to the way Citroen build its aircon system so I wanted to ask the experts here.

Our weather here is hot and humid, around 31~33c. The foggy situation usually happened during a rain day when...

I agree with what Mandrake (Simon) says. It is a very good idea to make sure the glass is spotless inside and out, as any dirt is a condensation seed point. I also use Rain-X on the windscreen to help keep it clear when it is raining.

Xantia Mk2: Roof vibrates

by marsalek » 17 Jul 2014, 10:39

Dear guys,

on my Mk2 Xantia Break the roof vibrates in a specific RPM range. The roof is probably glued to a carrier leading between the B-columns and the bonding does not hold any more. When a rear passenger supports the roof, the vibrations are gone.

Is it a typical illness of Mk2 Xantias?
As the interior lining on the roof is glued as well,...

Mike,

Use a large bladed screwdriver and gently lever it out. It's not the usual brittle plastic that's used all over the car. It may help slightly if you push down in the centre of the cover while working the screwdriver blade around the edge.

If you have strong finger nails you don't even need a screwdriver :)

by rizla » 15 Jul 2014, 23:16

Hi,

2002 Picasso. Randomly, the left rear wheel's brake doesn't release after braking.

It has drum brakes on the rear. To get it to release, it is necessary to pull over and open the bleed nipple briefly to relieve the pressure.

As it has ABS, there is no load compensator valve for the rear brakes.

Replaced (to no avail):

- ABS unit.

my first thought would be flexi hose has collapsed internally as it happens after braking and not after using the hand brake,

so its more likely to be either ..level sensor or maybe the Built-in Hydro-electronic Interface (BHI). if i get a BHI from the scrapyard can i just change it over

Remote locking

by Jaf » 02 May 2014, 01:46

First post

Hi folks. Is there a trick to the remote locking after changing the fob battery? Have to lock manually which is a pain cos the lock is a bit old and worn.

By the way how does the electrickery work? Doesn't need the fob battery for the fuel pump solenoid/ immobiliser?!

Thanks!

Last post

To program a Series 2 Xantia remote fob you'll need access to a Lexia and the four character confidential code that originally came on a credit card with the owners manual. (If not the code can be obtained for a fee from Citroen or elsewhere)

If you have those its only 5 minutes work to program the keys and fobs for someone who has done it before.

SUSPENSION LEVEL LOAD SENSOR

by morto » 10 Jul 2014, 17:56

First post

hello can anyone give me the part number for the SUSPENSION LEVEL LOAD SENSOR on a c5 2.2hdi 2002 plate please

Last post

Nope, the BHI adjusts the height & keeps the car level, the sensors just tell the BHI what the height is.

Hydractive ECU - overvoltage suppressor

by Old-Guy » 11 Jul 2014, 15:02

First post

Sorting through the biuts salvaged from the VSX, I decided to separate the EPIC and Hydractive ECUs from their common mounting plate. Curious as to why the latter rattled, I opened it up: rattling around in the case was a Motorola MR2535S that has quite clearly got hot enough to flow the solder and fall off the PCB!

Yet another reason...

Last post

It's yours Jim if you want it, though I wonder what else may have suffered as a result. I refrained from tinkering further as the connectors are screwed to the case and I was being pressured to get the bits sorted, crated and stored out of the way!

Did you all get the original problem sorted?

If not, I had similar with all sorts of odd messages. In my case it was sort of battery related but BSI unit. It appears the garage did some work and simply switched off, popped the bonnet, disconnected the battery. Did the work and reconnected and the BSI ECU did not like it.

They like 3 mins to shut...

VNT/VGT turbo

by xantiagreen » 11 Jul 2014, 10:51

First post

Has any one used any fuel additive/cleaner to clean the turbo (forte turbo cleaner/other brands), As I only use the car locally it is never running for more than 10-15 mins. I'll have just covered 3400 miles come sept 1st year of owning the beaut.

Any turbo/egr cleaners that work better than forte for the xantia hdi 110's?

Thanks in advance..

Other than SVO (not for newer diesels) the best method I have found (and cheapest) is a quick blast on the dual carriageway at 70 in 3rd every few weeks.

My p reg Xantia estate front suspension has dropped I have removed cleaned and regreased height corrector no joy took it to the nearest specialist last night as could not get the thing to raise he spent and hour under her trying no joy so bought second hand working height corrector and fitted it tried to set it and still no joy have no idea what...

Last post

It won't be the security valve - that would prevent the rear suspension working as well as both front and rear suspension are fed from the security valve.

My first guess would be that when you refitted the height corrector you accidentally reversed the inlet and return pipes - these are the two steel pipes that are side by side on one edge of the...

Where the Xantia keypad is hidden

by Old-Guy » 11 Jul 2014, 19:27

I've at last discovered where service.citroen have hidden the immobiliser key pad and the other centre console electrical switches etc :
Equipment > Fascia Panel Assembly > Panel on Dashboard

By the same strange Gallic logic, the Instrument panel is here:
Equipment > Fascia Panel Assembly > Instrument panel

Unidentifiable ECU

by Old-Guy » 11 Jul 2014, 11:40

I'm packing away the items salvaged from the VSX, adding any missing from my For Sale and Wanted listing. Amongst them is a black plastic ECU from under the centre console. It has 2 big multi-way sockets and printed in white: H7

Antiscanning there's nothing on it that looks like a Citroen part number...

Last post

Just the word antiscanning would lead me to the conclusion it is some form of alarm/lock controller.

Running google translate on some polish google hits for that number leads to pug 406 comfort module , which again makes some sense for central locking/auto-window roll/alarm etc.

Facelift C5 Leather Seats

by Roger S » 10 Jul 2014, 23:11

First post

Hi - does anyone have any ideas on tightening up the leather on the drivers front seat. All others look fine and taut but on my 6 year old C5 the drivers one appears a bit loose although it has only covered 36k since new. Also a big up for Citroen Redditch who I brought the car from under the Citroen Select scheme - had a few sat nav screen issues...

Leather furniture restorers use heat guns I believe. They get the leather really hot with a thing that looks like one of those paint stripper guns. Might be worth asking a furniture restorer. If you are doing that, remember that any piping is likely to be plastic, and will melt. Personally, I would live with the leather the way it is, unless...

The autel diagnostic tool with psa software will talk to the Suzuki as a Peugeot 806 with the 16 valve or 406 if it has the 8 valve engine. Don't know about the lexia though. The 2.0L 8 valve was fitted from about 2000 to 2002. Then they used the 16 valve up to 2006. All these GVs with the Peugeot engine carry an immobiliser fault code. Seems to...

xantia winscreed washer

Hello all,
My windscreen washer pump make a squeaking sound and I don't know why.
I know were the pump is but i don't know how to dismantle it from the washer tank.
A little help please!

Last post

It's a sealed unit and not amenable to being opened at all :(

It's best replaced. Just be aware it has two delivery ports, one for the front and one for the rear. It runs one way to wash the front and runs in reverse to wash the rear screen.

I would expect it's a standard enough device used across a range of PSA vehicles.

I have to replace the one in a work colleagues C2.... do they need coding or are they 'plug and play'?

That's usually so, however, I've had experience with my navigation exchange, when I put the RNEG (mwyway) unit in another car, while it still being VIN coded to my car, it worked flawlessly in the second car ... I was really surprised, and didn't find the reason for such behavior, however, I've VIN coded it to the target car just in case ...
