xantia frontal collision

Post by aneesh84 »

I had a frontal collision with my 1999 Xantia. I need new bumpers, bonnet, grill, fans and maybe radiator.

These parts are rarer to find here from the new design xantias. Can i replace all these parts from a mark 1 xantia more easily and cheaply availble from the scrapyard?

Yes, but you'll need to replace the slam panel ( the panel with the bonnet catch on ) and the headlights if you do that.

Mike, can you remember if the angle at the front of the wings is different? I've got a feeling they are, if so that'll be 2 wings and indicators needed.

Apparently s2 wings are same as s1 Big Wings from activas 2.1tds and v6s only..

im about to break a silver facelift and wont be keeping much from it because of space... but im in the uk!

The wings will physically fit but they are a little narrower. They don't have the wide arches of the Activa, V6 and the 2.1TD

Thats sort of what I meant.

he will ideally need V6 (rare in mark one), 2.1 td or activa mk.1 wings to work properly.

when I originally did my v6 up first time round I fitted a "Small Wing" and struggled to get it to fit properly.

how annoying ill be wasting a mk.2 but space and time is ALL against me sadly.

So the bonnet and other parts from an older car with small wings cant fit on my car without changing the wings?

They will, but you'll need to bend bits. I put 2 narrow wings on my S1 Activa with much messing about before I found an Activa front end for it

But the OP doesn't say he wants wings!
Nobody has yet answered the question, having been distracted by the whole wing (I suspect) red herring.
Will he not be able to use the bonnet, bumper, lights, rad, slam panel, etc. with his own wings, that presumably are correct for his car?

Thanks for making my question very clear! :-)

I had a frontal collision and my wings are fine. Its the other components that I need and I was asking if I could use them from a mark 1 Xantia!

It'll fit fine. You must use the slam panel though as the front end is of different design.

Can you please clarify if the existing radiator for the hdi can fit into the slam panel of the older version xantia? The shop were doubtful it will.
