Mk2 C5 suspension thingies?

Unread post by Smarty2 »

Hi all I am trying to find out what the two parts are identified as that sit on the rear of the suspension arm that look like a small metal block with pipes going into and out of? Are they accumulators pressure regulators or height correctors? Well I need two of them because LDS is leaking from them! Any help in identifying them will help me to track down a spares dealer.

Cheers.

While someone really familiar with C5 Mk2 suspension may be able to work out what you're referring to, you really need to post a photo and the last 8 digits of the VIN number. Then a member with access to service.citroen should then be able to give you the correct part number(s) for your car and also tell you what model variants it was fitted to.

2011 Grand C4 Picasso VTR+ 1.6HDi - not missed!
1995 Xantia Estate SX 1.9TD in Vert Vega "The Green Lady" - sadly missed
1998 Xantia 2.1 VXD Estate in Mauritius Blue - R.I.P. (terminal tin-worm)

I reckon they're brake calipers.

A photo would be a great help in identifying them.

Hi, thanks for replying, I haven't got access to the car at the moment however the last 8 digits of the VIN are 76382964. They are nothing to do with braking, as I said LDS is leaking from them and it was an advisory by a citroen garage years ago that they should be changed, I need to get them changed before the mot, two blocks about 2 inches by 4 inches each with 3 or 4 pipes (if memory is correct) one each end and another on the side which I am supposing is the return for the suspension fluid? Anyhow, if I manage to get access I will snap away
(pictures not pipes!). :)

Hi there everyone, sorry for the delay but had lots of work done on the old C5, the parts in question are indeed height correctors and not as I described them, mind you memory was conjuring images in my mind that were obviously flawed, it was over 5 years ago though since the citroen technician showed me them! All sorted now though, thanks for the interest.

They can't be height corrector as the C5 doesn't have height correctors, the BHI adjusts the height on a C5 & that's located behind the O/S headlamp.
Best to post a picture for identification.

While the C5 doesn't have height correctors (as we would know them in green blooded Citroens), it does have height measuring devices connected (I believe) to the anti roll bars. I remember reading somewhere on this forum that somebody had a problem with theirs, popped it open, cleaned it up and re-did the solder joins and that sorted it.

Correct James.
They get labelled 'Height Correctors' as a follow on from their mechanical counterparts but as you say are sensors.
They can sometimes be cleaned and reused but are reasonably inexpensive from the dealer.
They do suffer from the same dog-bone coming adrift problem as mechancal ones.

I knew I had seen something on these. Unfortunately the pictures haven't come across, but this might still help;
