Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Whilst I was mucking around with the alternator today I noticed that the expansion bottle cap on my Xant HDi wasn't sealing anymore (the rubber gasket in the cap has gone funny). Conveniently I had a spare cap in my toolbox - a leftover cap from my ZX TD. It's a bit old but it seals.

The springs feel about the same but I haven't had my thumbs...

I guess you could say is that the rad cap blow off valve is only really necessary if the coolant is overpressurising. As far as I can tell the head gasket in my car is healthy, so no worries needed then.

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a brake cylinder rewind kit that will definitely fit a 2009 X7 C5, 1.6 Hdi? I have seen some multi-adaptor kits on eBay at a good price, but can't confirm for sure that they will fit the above car. A kit that just fits my vehicle would be fine.

I am guessing slightly as we havnt had loads of MK111 C5's for rear brakes yet, is the C5 you have an electric brake ?
The ordinary cable ones are nothing special in the wind back tool dept. The piston is just smaller, similar to a C4 ot Pug 307 as far as I know, a universal,one will do fine.

over christmas i have had injectors cleaned, cleaned inlet and elbow, new fuel filter and ran fuel cleaner through system, fitted cone filter on mainly because the battery i have fitted from my iveco van (a very good battery) is a bit big...

what does the fuel computer use for calculations. when i accelerate it goes down to 17mpg. any slight push on throttle sends economy right down. does it use maf.
its so poor on fuel its scary.

My car has lost mpg since my replacement engine was fitted.

I did have to mess with the vac ;)pipes as the turbo was not working correctly, all seems to work fine now and all pipes look to in the correct place engine pulls at all speeds oh and swirl flaps working.

The rear seat back can be removed, the 60% one, leaving the 40% one intact. The seat base is a bench all across so obviously that will have to stay. Car is a C3 SX spec, 2003. Need to transport 3 adults (including driver) and some odd shaped 'luggage'. I've done some measuring up and it looks like it will just fit if the above is possible. In too...

New to be board, so apologies if thsi has been covered before.
I have ahd a quick look around but cant find anything specific.
My 05 C5 petrol has developed the dreaded antipollution fault.
It came on about a week ago and went into limp mode, topped up the oil left it overnight and all was well.
This week it has reappeared with very poor idle and...

2.0 HDI 2005 exclusive with the above fault.

I spoke on here previously about how hard I found the suspension to be and I did the bounce test after which it was suggested that there may be a problem with the spheres. I've had it checked and found that the rear supension unit on the passenger side is leaking.

Would this lead to a hard ride?...

Ha ha.... :roll: 'Cos I was talking about it ( (here) , the supply pipe to the rear off side unit has gone - it's rusted through where there's a clip on the subframe just before it gets to the cylinder :twisted: . The pipe to cylinder joint looks interesting to say the least, so it might be time to twist after all! Other end goes into the antisink...

I have had very faint oil smell inside the car, this is noticeable when the car engine is hot and the car has stopped .I have been told that it could be the cam cover gasket seal where it leaks oil on to the hot v6 engine .
Has anyone had the same problem and what is the fix.

My Q is, I know theres various disk sizes, and calipers between the standard hatch, the V6/Activas, and the estates... but What I need to know is this:

can anyone help please I have changed my drive belt an tensioners on my diesel C5 estate thinking it will cure a rattling sound comiming from that area, but it hasnt don, I now think it may be the Crankshaft Pulley causing me the noise, what I need to know can this be canged easly or will it knock the timing out if i remove it and how easy are...

If you have a noise around the drive belt area you could have a faulty alternator puller.

Some alternator pulleys are ratchet pulleys that will only freewheel in one direction. If the freewheel locks up it can cause noise around the aux belt area. This happened to my C5 2.2 Hdi.

I replaced the ratchet pulley and the noise went away.

hi
i have aproblem with my remote unlocking
key locks and unlocks car without a problem,so dose remote too
but if you lock the car by remote and come back after a hours remote will not unlock the car
so i need to open with key ,open the door and close it fast not to set alarm off(sometimes i do)

Very likely a slipping AUX belt which will only squeal when the hydraulic pump puts a load on it...(it needs 5 HP to drive the pump under full load)

Check the belt condition and tension.

I bought my cheap Xantia TD estate last year, it's been really reliable so far, until I noticed a pool of LHM under the rear nearside.

It's the pipe that travels from a 3-way union, over the rear suspension subframe and to the engine bay. Most of it is in good condition, just the rear 50cm or so is grotty. The route into the engine bay is...

Thats your rear brake supply pipe...

Where it goes depends if you have ABS or not...

If you have ABS then the pipe goes directly to the ABS valve block, just ahead of the LHM tank..

If it doesn't have ABS, I THINK it goes directly to the 4 or 5 way connecting manifold, on the bulk head, which goto the brake valve.

The pipe runs over the top of...

Someone commented on this on another thread I posted and after reading other threads on the subject I have a question.

Is a hydraflush worth it on a hydropneumatic car ? Mine is a 2001 xantai sx s2 90 and non hydractive.
Car has done 120k miles and the fluid is light brown colour so needs changing, ite may have been done before but I doubt it....

Hi guys.

I am getting an XCarLink MP3 player next week (it was posted today) after having one in my old Nissan Primera.

I want to place it above the Satnav CD-player on the little shelf. But to do that I need to remove the gubbins so I can drill a hole for the cable to fit through to connect to the cd-multichanger port of the stereo.

My 2000 HDi Xantia has developed a kick in the steering, to either left or right, only noticeable around the straight ahead position and at low speed.

Though at first it was a road surface issue but daughter borrowed it over weekens and commented too. Could see it quite clearly with her driving on plain road and loose grip on wheel. Feels like a...

If going from lock to lock helped then I definately reckon theres air it that there system.... Ensure LHM levels are correct and run it for a good while, occasionally doing the lock to lock excercise.... Hopefully that should bleed it out...

I thought I'd share this as the loss of power going up even the slightest slope, bad starting, white smoke, and missfire at 3200rpm was baffling me and I thought this might just help some others.
It was the MAF.. got a cheap new one guaranteed for a year from here

Hi,

I am having a few issues with 3rd gear on my S2 1.9TD Xantia Estate.
approxamately two weeks ago I was driving the 40 iles down to Bourne to Barrys Garage to have my heater Matrix replaced.
it was extreeml;y cold and we had just had the last of the heavy snow on the previous Sunday Night/Monday mornning.

I got a left rear tyre punctured STOP warning the other day. I put a few PSI into the tyre and the warning went away. The new shape C5 has tyre specific sensors but I don't think the older cars had this. Just keep an eye on it. I had read some horror stories about the warning message having to be cleared by a Lexia (or the diagbox) but mine...

just brought a c5 2litre hdi vtr 2004 model i have a problem with the auto box it is very sluggush at changing gear when cold once it warms up it is fine no problem changing up or down now here comes the problem
went to change the oil got new oil located the filler and the problem is the drain i have seen...

even my 207 has no level plug. I found only a drain plug and the oil that comes out is even less than that, more around 0.7 liters...

I have sold my c5 but I had swapped the front seat out due to a large hole and hadnt got round to fitting the multi changer now I am left with a multi changer with cds in it any idea how I can get them out???? I want to get my cds out and then sell the multi changer so any help would be great cheers

Worth a look, the 206 hat the wiring hiding behind one of the panels in the boot and holes for fitting.

Find out where the changer is located in the 308 and see if there is a plug lying around.

Oh yes, at 236K (kilometres) the cat has failed.

Naturally, it failed mid-roadtrip so I limped the last 800 miles home at speeds down to 25MPH, smelling too-hot 4711 from the gearbox as it revved its tits off in second up hills, and the temperature gauge loved to climb precipitiously whenever in second.

It's probably more like nine percent, but that is an utterly raw figure; I haven't checked or changed anything else. I know the spark plugs suffered during the worst blockage and it is showing signs of a weak spark or degraded coil - as tomorrow is set to be rainy I may have time for the Lexia.

You should definitely plug the end of the pipe that went to the egr valve to preserve the vacuum circuit. This hiss from the butterfly valve however is not normal, maybe a leak there? It would be good to rule out the simpler stuff (relatively speaking) before worrying about timing issues or any thing more serious though. Don't suppose you can...

Had a replacement engine fitted from a Pug 607, new clutch, new maf, new dual mass, filters, used original turbo & injectors from old engine. Engine came with the filter housing and pipes in place, engine was complete. Exhaust filter removed and jet washed out as well.

Seem to be using more fuel than before, reset trip before trip to work and...

Took my Berlingo van to my local garage as airbag light had come on. On hooking up he found a P2801 fault code but couldn't explain what that was. Not sure about the Berlingo, but on the Xantias, a cleanup of the switches under the drivers seat, usually cured the airbag light.

Hi,

I have a 2001 Xsara 1.4 hatch. 3 full seatbelts in the back, and I can disable the passenger airbag.

I am doing a house swap this summer with some friends. Car swap too... so they will be using the Xsara with their 3 kids.

At first I thought that they would disable the airbag and put the youngest there, with an adult in the centre rear.

I'm currently having a problem with my 2002 C5 Hdi Estate. I am getting loss of power which comes and goes. Once the engine is turned off and restarted the power returns but then goes again once being driven for a short time. I'm also getting the emissions warning message. I would be keen to know peoples views as i've read that it could be the DPF...

MAF defects won't result in limp mode, only severely reduced performance and there is nothing to reset or reconfigure - plug and play :)
There is clearly a secondary defect there.

As monkeyfeet says, the swirl valve and actuator are common suspects on the 2.2.

As many on here have more than one car and considering the present law on insurance/tax/sorn I'm curious as to how members insure their cars.

Individual policies must be expensive so do insurance companies allow multiple cars on one policy or do you put them on a trader policy?

so well presented by Myglaren. I commented that it seemed a horrendous procedure for such a simple operation (timewise).
Thinking that I might have to do a battery off job, to remove a tyre sensor warning message, I had a look in my Citroen Handbook for battery removal. Basically...... Remove the cover, remove the terminals, refit new battery....

It's more than a few minutes though. It's over. An hour and a half. That's a blooming lot of tea, or more to the point a nice little earner for a garage. I've had some complex modern cars, but I've never heard of this before. BMW, Saab, Audi and nothing but disconnect the terminals and refit to new battery.

Hello guys.

Fitted a Sony head unit into tank yesterday (citroen c5 2.0 hdi estate) , and this morning tank wouldnt start.
Had to jump start it with leads.

Related or not?

It has been having trouble starting before but always would after about 5-7 seconds.
So I expect the battery is a little old anyway.

the top section on the passenger side above the glovebox is coming away. It is where the top and bottom parts meet central to the centre dash vent and where it says airbag and the passenger side.

If you push the dash in you can here what must be glue or sticky tape holding the dash back down but quickly comes back up.

Would like to know who...

Well, I fell at the first fence.....................

Went to use this finally and so looked everywhere for a socket, checked the forum and best general idea was the fuse box.
So I finally found it, I think, as yhere is an orange socket in there (race track oval shape) which could be it.

Great I thought, so got out the lexia leads and...............
