Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

What veg oil mixes are you getting away with on the 1.9 td? No heaters, just the standard heated filter and WVO with derv.

i run mine on a 50/50 basis at the mo but am only putting in 10l d 10l vegoil from tesco,
have found on mostly veg it hunts a little on idle but otherwise very little difference, that said, its still 10 degrees +down here,
weve a run to do week before christmas so will tank it 50/50 then too, seems to like it for nice runs!

In checking over my front suspension this weekend (for a steering issue) I now find I need to replace the front lower balljoints on my C5 too!!

I have ordered a pair, and the special tool to undo them but seen lots of info that they are a bu99er to slacken off, involving huge amounts of brute force and potentially damaged tools (and knuckles!!)....

A quick update, problem would appeared to have been solved.

Replaced matrix piping as a very small leak was coming from water preheater. But I found I had misread the water levels in the expansion tank.

When I have been checking the coolant level I saw water at the bottom of the tank but didn't top it up #-o . As a result of the change of pipes...

As title, I disconnected the battery in order to clean the terminals, and immediately afterwards the remote central locking stopped working - nothing happens at all with any of the key-fob buttons. The central locking works with the key in the door (however sometimes it locks then automatically unlocks which I believe is a broken wire in the...

My daughter has just been ripped off buying a Citroen C8 because she needs an 8 seater car. She bought it from a lockup in Manchester but the garage wont give her money back as they say the business was sold to another guy so he bears no responsibility for her money.

I Have A 2010 Citroen C6 2.2 HDI I Drive Into My Driveway And Parked It Up, When I Went Out The Next Day It Wouldn't Start, I Plugged It Into Lexia And Got The Following Fault Codes:
BSI = 1 Fault

F5FF (unexpected re-initialisation fault coming from the BSI) Not Characterised.

Injection / Ignition (EDC16CP39) = 5 Faults

P0113 Air intake...

I would say either the battery has had it; the fuse box has gone dolally; or one of the components that has a 5V control supply has gone belly up and is pulling the voltage down.

Check the battery voltage first...

It wouldn't be the first time that a fuse box has failed, although it is more Han likely a battery issue......

Is it the dreaded MAF ? I tried cleaning it and reinstalling but just cutting out, I then disconnected it and the same thing. I am sure it ran before with this disconnected.
I will have to call a local garage to do as test here as it won't move now, but before I do.....

Symptoms are / were for a few days has seemed to hesitate but then ok.

You can't beat the PSA diesel engines, they have probably been making them longer than anyone else with the possible exception of Mercedes and they certainly make more than anyone else. I had a 404 diesel from the '60s and apart from deafening you at above 60mph it was by far the best car diesel and the XUD was what really started the diesel...

Problem is that either Snow or Sport mode buttons dont light up and the modes dont activate either.

Both of my front side lights have gone (again!) and I am thinking about replacing them with LEDs.

My problem is that standard type 233 bulbs do not fit correctly as the bulb holders are designed for mini bayonet bulbs with offset pins. Apparently this is because the original fitment bulbs were halogen.

Anybody sourced and fitted LED sidelights...

The C4 Picasso uses those god awful H6Ws for side lights as well - after coughing nearly a fiver for a new one (I'm sure it was only ONE!!) at Halfords, I just bought some of the ones with resistors from e-bay - for little more than a fiver a pair. Work fine, look a little blue, but who cares - they don't pop every five minutes, and don't confuse...

Title might sound a bit strange but I want to stop my C5 suspension moving when I have it jacked up.

I know I can disconnect the battery but I will need to start the engine periodically and don't want to have to run through the battery reconnection sequence every time!

Is there a connector or fuse I can just disconnect to the hydraulic pump or...

HI

I'm going to change my lower ball joints. There's no slack but the rubber protector is cracked on both, so I guess it's a good idea.

Do I need any special tools? Is it a hard job?

It was already supported on larger axle stands on the front supports, and the back wheels were chocked. I see what you mean though, if the suspension went to high with the engine running- oooh doesnt bear thinking about. However, I only work underneath the car with the suspension depressurised, for safety reasons, and I never work...

Hi guys
I'm getting very close to owning a C5 and I'm tossing up between a mk 1 low milage 2.0hdi 110bhp manual and a facelift 138bhp 6speed auto with 90,000 miles+.
I'd really like an auto but can live without it, I'd love leather but it seems to be rare in the mk2's.
I'm not a great fan of multivalve engines as in my experience you loose the...

Dont know why you have a thing on the AL4 or the ZF hp20 .. they are simmilar boxs but not the same. They are both auto adaptives and both electronically controlled boxs except the AL4 is not a ZF box but I think a psa box...

both boxs are ticking time bombs at 100k plus if they are on original box oils and not been serviced.. but the valve block...

c5 dual climate control wont stop blowing cold air on drivers side unless put up above 26 and hot air on passenger side even with air con which works too well on the drivers side any ideas ,relay, thermistor, anything common faults on these. :?

I got back this afternoon from a last minute booked cruise in the Western Med.

Still quite a few Xantiae about, Mk's I II and III C5's and one C6. We never saw any older Cit's although I did see a Renault 4 in reasonable condition. The weather was very summery. 24C in Majorca and most other ports 20C+

Sprung a leak on the old girl, 1995 N reg 1.9TD SX. the leak is at the rear of the engine, theres a rubber pipe that runs along the subframe and up over the H/C then connects to a metal pipe and has split right at the join. is this easily repaired as there isn't a massive amount of leeway for me to cut the offending part off and sleeve it back on....

Something I noticed this morning, sitting in a queue of traffic I moved the gear lever from drive to neutral and the front end dipped an inch or so. Putting it back into drive made it rise up. Does it every time I tried it. Now, what's that all about?

I usually lube the struts on a Xantia at least a couple of times a year...

The top bush in the strut is a bit of a weak point in the strut design - it essentially runs dry and doesn't receive any natural lubrication... it's this bush that binds under side thrust. A bit of grease on this top bush (applied via the shaft)...

Hi all, help needed please.
Iv got a C5 2.2 sx tdi and the suspension pump and ecu has gone wrong (diagnosed via an independent garage) the car has an AA insurance cover that will pay up to £465 towards the repair
but the garage is quoiting me £590 just for the reconditioned part or £750 for a new one, with fitting on top im looking at a total of...

Evening all, looking on ebay for a cruise control stalk to fit to my C5 there's plenty of them listed as fitting various Citroens and Peugeots even though they seem to have different code numbers on the little stickers. Are they all basically the same part? Citroen Service says the correct part number for my car is 6242Z9 but there's only one...

Hi can self levelling headlights be adjusted by the plastic screws on the headlights. The beam is very very low. If they can be adjusted will this have any affect on the self levelling motor.

Check the height sensor on rear axle. It´s rusty if you haven´t lubricated it, and I think that affects the lights too.

Something like this in the middle of the rear axle:

It´s easy to access when you lift the car up, but remember to use some support so you won´t get squashed in case the rear falls down!

The mileage on my Synergie doesn't make sense it'a a 2001 and only done 35000 and it started life as a hire car! is there anywhere in the ecu or something that the lexia that can uncover it?? :?:

The synergie is not multiplexed so the mileage is only stored in the instrument panel, simply changing the panel changes the mileage.
If anything electronic mileage displays have made clocking easier, the majority can be done via the OBD port with the right software. However there is no facility to do it using lexia.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and from Sri Lanka. I have a Xantia 2, 2000 model with 2.0i 16v engine. I replaced all 6 gas spheres but every time I start the engine it takes nearly 1/2 a minute to go off the stop light. When I stop the engine restarts instantly this issue is not there. Any ideas

Hi, I own a Citroen Relay swb 2.0 Hdi 2004 model van. I can't get the interior lights to work in the back of the van. I have checked bulbs,door switches and fuses.Although I can't see the fuse location for the back lights only the cab one. Is there another fuse separate from cab?

I've got twin horns on the Xantia and they are not working. I've tried them out on the battery direct and also given them a good whack with no result.
They have been a bit weedy the last couple of years so I assume one must have gone and now the second one has.

The GSF website seems to think that my Xantia has 6v horns, surely this isn't the...

Go to ebay, buy a pair of single tone air horns with the compressor for £10 and fit using the OE wiring loom. Simples, and they really make people take note when you press the horn! :shock:

Just woundering if anyone could help I have a c8 2.0 hdi
I brought it as a non runner (snapped belt) and ended up changing the engine but It starts and runs fine no management lights on but no powet on take off almost as If
It has not got a turbo
Checked pipes no splits no engine warning lights read with lexia no fault codes there is a slight...

HI

I've been running my Xantia on straight vegetable oil in summer for several years. Normally i dont have any problems, but it's been struggling recently on start-up. I changed the in-line filter and the main filter. Changing the in-line filter helped as this was in fact for petrol, as they once again incorrectly sold to me in the car parts shop...

I'm actually leaning towards swapping the VWO heater for a 12V assistant pump for the Bosch main pump, as the forum seems to think this is the best way to overcome any starting issues-

So my dad's getting a 1993 petrol ax in white. For his birthday! Think it's 1.2l, she's done 180,000kms.

The check engine light is on apparently, so if I buy a Lexia now that we have 2 Citroens in the family, will I need a particular adaptor?

Besides the normal service stuff is there anything to check?

It nearly didn't happen cos the paperwork...

Thanks a lot kenny. Sorry for the delay in replying. My car is a Xantia 2 YOM 2000 with a 2.0i 16v engine. This doesn't happen all the time. Some times it sinks and some times it doesn't. When it does it happens in about 10 minutes time.

I think you're right Peter. I can't recall replacing one in many years. Certainly not in 5 oil changes on the Berlingo. I keep meaning to, but always forget to buy one. I've had no leaks so far.

MOT failure on rear brake imbalance of 32% and 60% across rear axle sent me for my spanners. Fixed apparent cause, but sprung rear hydraulic pipe leak (i.e. to passenger side brake), due to pipe decay and calliper removal. I'd like any useful advice on fixing that.

I found the infamous nasty corrosion at back of rear alloy calliper, more so on...

I've had this 2004 car for 3 months or so - a low miles (39k) one owner car. But somehow it doesn't seem right - several pointers to high miles for example. But after replies to a posting I did a few weeks ago, I convinced myself that, while low miles, it has been a high-usage car. Clutch pedal rubber worn, seats a bit scruffy, cruise control not...

Well same problem rusted hook on the bolt...problems here changing wheel at roadside .. after soaking with diesel / oil managed to
force the spare wheel cage bar over the hook and drop..the spare wheel..
Then fitted replacement hook and bolt ... got from a scrappy Ford Ka .. yes FORD KA..they fit great and there are
loads of Ka,s awaiting...

I have to go to my Mums (6 hours away) in a few weeks. Whilst there I intend to change her leaky injector firewasher.
I'll have no tools available there and very limited possibility of borrowing, buying what I need with the nearest garage/tool shop being 2 hours away. Has anyone changer a C3 firewasher recently? Can you give me a list of tools...

I have no problem in getting the washer out .. its the tools that I need to get to that stage spanner/socket sizes etc. the xantia is easy with 3 spanners and a socket. but i can't remember abouth the C3.

H imy S2 Xantia, the rear suspension of the car will not stay in the middle position.When doing Citroen robics, the front of the car will move happily through the three positions, but the rear will only move low to high or visa versa, not reconising the middle position. anybody got any idea? cheers Terry. :oops:

Hi Guys
Old Citroen Owner who went to Ford and made a mistake..Now got a Saxo Forte 1.1 which drives okish..well it drives ok but the gear stick is a bit floopy..is it a common fault or can it be easily corrected..Finds all gears spot on..Just floppy.

Hows it going lads having a recurring problem with hanbrake cables slipping off the hand brake works for a few days and then just slips off again
its getting a bit annoying at this stage any pointers I am bedding it correctly by the way :x

I've noticed rather strange symptoms with the back end of my '97 Xantia over the past few months, so I'd appreiciate comments.

When parking up, say we've gone shopping, and my wife gets out,the back end rises, which is normal (less weight in the car, not that I'm saying she's fat ....), I switch off, and the suspension locks, as it does with a...

Right

So I replaced the rear antisink, front accumulator, and both front corner spheres on my 98 2.1 td sx. The only ones I haven't changed are the rear corner spheres.

Front is now super smooth and no more clicling from the accumulator

My only problem is everytime I get in and start the engine, the front rises, then the rear?

Why is this...

There don't appear to be any min/max marks on either of the ones I've owned... I fill it up to just below the tip of the tube that extends up inside the middle of the bottle.

Does your TD have the same coolant bottle design though ? I thought the HDi 110 was the only other Xantia to share the same coolant bottle design as the V6 ?

No, the 2.1TD Xantia is the only other one to share the same expansion bottle as the V6.

The HDi uses the same standard wing-mounted one...

Had the front wheels off last weekend to check brakes and noticed that there seemed to be a lot of play in the hubs. Upon investigation it seemed all of the balljoints and the wheel bearing seemed fine but the track rod arm where it connected through the gaiter on the steering rack would move about 10-15mm.

Is this normal on C5's or is this...

Do you really mean 10-15mm? That sounds a crazy amount. Surprised you've got any tyre tread left :-D

I didn't measure it, so maybe I'm exaggerating it a bit... #-o It's probably no more than 5mm but I'm going to have a really good look this weekend.

Even 5mm is a crazy amount of slack. :shock: With that much the ball joint should completely...
