...Hello there everyone (...another newcomer to the forum)
...So ...I've recently written-off my 2000 Berlingo van ...and after trying to restart it ...all I get is a key warning light and "beep beep beep beep" ...first ...with research it looked like it would be the fuel cut-off switch that can be triggered by having a bump ...but I can't seem to find one anywhere ...so with more research ...I read about bypassing the solenoid/immobiliser ...by taking a live feed from the reversing light switch mounted on the top of the gearbox ...and connecting it direct to the solenoid ...but I don't know where to connect it to on the solenoid ??? ...on the front of the pump there are two block connectors ...a blue one and a black one underneath ...it doesn't need to be a tidy repair ...I just need to get the van running to be able to sell it for spares
...Thanks in advance for any help on the subject

Re: ...Berlingo solenoid/immobiliser bypass
The key warning light usually means that the immobiliser circuit does not recognise the key (or, rather, the security chip in the key), and so will not allow the fuel pump to run. That could be worth checking out first.

Re: ...Berlingo solenoid/immobiliser bypass
If that's the case it's possible someone replaced the lock barrel and left the original transponder taped to the "loop" inside the column case. Either that or the immobiliser was disabled in some other way that has now failed. I suspect the first option as it could've been dislodged in the accident.

...I thought It looked more like the crash could have activated the fuel cut-off switch ...and that apparently is located top right under the bonnet ...but I can't see it ...where else could that switch be ???

Re: ...Berlingo solenoid/immobiliser bypass
Diesel engines don't legally require an inertia cut-off switch, so maybe yours does not have one.
If there is a key symbol warning light, it is almost certain that you have a transponder key (which seems likely by 2000 anyway). If you post your VIN maybe someone can check what was fitted at the factory.

...Hello again ...and thanks for the suggestion
...So ...the VIN number on my paperwork says
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
...But that doesn't seem to follow the pattern of VIN numbers ...that could be because it's an English van that has been French registered ???

Re: ...Berlingo solenoid/immobiliser bypass
Years ago I bought a diesel Xsara cheap because they had lost the keypad code. I had to cut a piece out out of the pump cover to get to the solenoid. It was simply wired to a "secret switch" in the glove box. Probably not relevant this was a 1996 car
Oh buggle
