Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I'm hoping this is nothing to worry about, but after a struggle to turn into a very tight parking space at a relative's house yesterday that required a 7-point lock-to-lock turn, I noticed wisps of grey smoke from the front offside of the car. hi i have an xsara picasso when i go out in the morning it starts no problems revs fine but when i put it in gear to pull away it initally is ok for a few seconds then its loses its will to keep going so i dip the clutch it reves up no probs if i do this for a few seconds it seems to clear then it drives ok all day after this i have been told it...

C5 Exclusive tourer 2.2 2008 new model.
Car had started showing anti pollution fault warning around a month ago maybe a git more, then last week it came to a stop in the middle of Newcastle with the wife at the wheel.
Short stop seemed to reset everything and it driven OK since then.
Tonight I've got the warning of low anti pollution fuel...

Re refilling the additive tank I did it on my present C5 and found it to be a very simple task, firstly I bought the additive from Citroen as they now offer a new version (Infineum F7995) which reduces build up of ash on the particulates filter so worth it in the long run, the kit comes comes with the additive, a long length of hose with a tap and...

A new message has just started to appear on the info screen telling me that one of the wheel sensors is missing. Assuming no one has come along in the night and gone to the bother of nicking it I assume one has packed up doing whatever it does. So is there a way of telling which one?

My 1993 Xant has an outer CV joint that is donald duck'd. Although it's the (expensive) long one (shaft) I'm inclined to fit a complete new shaft as it's the original and maybe the rest of the shaft isn't too far behind. Only trouble is I can only find shafts for sale for '95 onwards Xants :( GSF, Euro, CP4L and Mr Auto don't appear to...

Well most are either petrols or hdi's and the only one that's close is one that had one owner and 50k miles no tax and near full mot and just managed £430 :(

I did think the alloys were original but it shouldn't affect insurance anyway as they are worth pretty much little anyway.

Some time ago, on the Might be useful one day principle, I saved the extending aluminium handle from Bettaware broom or similar - one of those that you twist to lock/unlock with a plastic hand grip on the end of the top section and a threaded plastic socket on the other.

Today I found the perfect use for it - much more useful than as a broom...

Experiances: While I had 195/60/15 the average fuel consumption was around 54mpg.

i have just had someone ask me what is the cause of his C5 speedo reading about 8 to 9 MPH under what its realy doing,

he has found by driveing through speed camera's at 30MPH they flash, but if he stays below 21MPH they dont,

i have not seen the car yet and dont know exactly what modle it is, i think he say its a 2.0lt diesel,

Hi, I brushed against the turbo oil feed tube on my C5 1.6 hdi today and found it was loose, the pipe was sliding about in the banjo .
I've had an oil leak but didn't know from where . As a new pipe is the best part of 50 quid it came off and I welded both ends , yep

I'd prefer to see steel banjos brazed onto steel pipes rather than welding: welds are brittle and no matter the method (gas, MIG TIG) it's very much harder to get a reliable and durable oil-tight joint. Brass banjos of course need to be silver-soldered (tinsmith's, not plumber's or electrical, solder).

Any gauze filter would seem to be a bit...

Shows how big the cars have got - in some cases the Resolfens look small on the C4s, whilst on that Xsara they look huge...!

OK...planning a Forced ReGen (via Lexia) of the nasty box in the exhaust as I get a risk of particular filter blockage warning and the motorway Italian tune up does not seen to of worked.
I get NO other warnings

When I have done regens on Lexia, it has never worked, in fact the last one I did on a C8 made the pressure differential larger, not sure how :(
If you have a 1.6 hdi, you need to get it removed correctly, I have much experience with these, and you cannot easily trick the car into thinking all is well. Remember the car will still try to regen...

Hi all, Been searching the site posts for the correct setting for the front wishbone rear bush orientation. The only advice I can find on the forum (and in Haynes) is to fit it as per it was on removal. My problem is that the rubber had parted company with the inner bush, so that on removing bolts, the arm followed Newtons Laws and hung...

Not sure if this was an optional extra or a previous owner fitted it but I have an extra 12V cigar socket in the passenger foot well on the side of the console. Really handy for sat navs or phone charger and appears to be a perm live as it works even when the ignition is off.

Anyway suddenly stopped working and I think it was a faulty cheapy...

Why do I always look for the complicated solutions first. Peered into the socket and at the back of it was the mangled remains of a fuse and part of the iphone charger internals!! Amazed it hadn't shorted out as some of it was metal. Anyway extricated this and all works as normal!!! :) Note to self look for the simple solution first!!!

I've just sold my Xantia and bought a 2006 c5 est with 53k on clock.

The car is a pleasure to drive, but I'm so disappointed with the radio, I owned a c5 some years ago and the radio was good, perhaps it was because it was an exclusive!
Can anyone tell me if there is an after market kit , and is there an adapter plate available so I don't loose...

Depends what the fault is with the radio - IIRC these have an amplified aerial that is prone to going haywire, leading to loss of signal quality - this might worth pursuing first. Should be possible to fit a radio from a higher spec car though.

done some work on a c3 today and had to remove the battery. Come to set the time and date and HOW DO YOU DO IT autodata says use buttons on the side of display but it dosnt have any. it has the usual modes on the end of the wiper stalk but thats it. At a tolol loss with it

It won't set off RDS anyway as the clock is in a separate display from the radio & as its an aftermarket radio it's not connected to the display.
If the radio has been replaced with an aftermarket one on a full CAN C3 the only way to reset it is to borrow an original radio & plug it in.

i had the shear pun syndrome on the last XANT i did a few months back,
so i removed the arm with push rod attached, put with the arm on the bench applied heat and managed the get the pin remains out, then wiggled the cup side to side and got the cup out of the arm,

that last picy shows the arm is very badly chewed away were the seal sits,...

Hi, i have a 2004 Citroen C5 mk1, 2.0hdi 110.
A couple of weeks ago my reverse lights stopped working when car is engaged into reverse.
So, i checked bulbs ( all good ). I checked fuses ( all good ).
I checked for any obvious other symptoms eg unplugged wires. ( all good ).

Then done research into issue, and think its most likely Reverse...

Does anyone know where the radio and gps aerials are on a 2008 C5 X7? Are they integrated into the rear window?

I'm having intermittent GPS covereage and would like to rule out the aerials.

Another option I am considering is to attach a cheap external GPS aerial to the head unit to help rule out any antenna issues but I'm not sure which tools...

The aerial must be integrated somewhere, and possibly disconnected from the element. Check around the front and rear windows for a connection with nothing attached, or maybe in the boot somewhere.

Hi guys,first time poster
I successfully replaced the front window regulator cables on both front windows on my 2008 c5,thanks to all the advice on this forum.
Everything was going fine for about a month until the drivers side developed a new problem.
When I pull the switch for the window to close fully on auto,it rises to closed position, then...

Okay guys here's my predicament: travelled from Birmingham to Stoke-on-Trent yesterday to pick up trailer after having successfully installed towbar electrics etc (as discussed here ).

A few years back, I asked my Citroen mechanic to change ATF on gearbox who insisted sealed for life meant he wasn't going to do it.

If it is a later model that only appears to have a drain plug like in the picture that is actually the level plug, when you take out the level plug there is a tube screwed in side the hole that comes out with an Allen key to drain the box.

Changed my nearside droplink this morning, there was no discernible play in the old one but the car has become eerily quiet, the drummer that used to practice under the nearside has packed up his kit and gone home :)
The new droplink has flats on the pins and should be easy to counterhold though the quality does not look the best, the rod is not...

have started to do a bit of servicing on my old bx diesel......i suspect that the oil hasn't been changed as it should because of 'suspect' servicing by someone else who should have done a good job...
drained all the old stuff out....new filter and 5w30 synthetic oil.........the intention is for it to act as a good flushing agent for a...

i get my engine oil 'out of the back door' multi-fleet 5w30 synthetic for vauxhall vans , however i've just spent nearly 20 quid on semi synthetic 15w40 just in case.....

Hi all,

Have been happy with mine lately all seems good and it continues to be a good car.

I have got a problem I am guessing at that someone might be able to help with.

I have been hearing a 'knocking' noise coming from the front left. Is only when driving over speedhumps or pot holes.

I think it is struts or something but am researching now....

I have recieved the drop links now. They cost me £8 for a pair in the end. They look well made and strong so am reasonably happy with them.

I took my old one off today, had to angle grind as they were siezed on and whole part was rusted and siezed. I worked it free eventually. It does not appear to be broken but...

Could well be. Just found out newer 1.2 litre Puntos have a two stage ELECTRIC power steering system. Wierd or what? Easy power steering normally, super easy when City button is pressed.

Are you just trying to disable it? If so then the easiest option is to get a blanking plate from ebay. Took me all of 10 mins to fit and I'm sure it improved response a little. I can find the seller if you want. I've removed the e/v, all the piping and blanked off...

I have been offered some free new tyres with a very high profile tyres (total outer diameter 25 ) which fit a 14 rim. The existing 195/65 R15 on the Xant are 24.5 outer diameter - so thinking of fitting the new tyres to the 14 rim and then sticking them on the Xant? Go with last comment as early zantys where 14's estates are 283mm disc's on front so 14's won't fit from what ive seen bx/zanty's are same rims.
Have you a saloon or estate? the 195/65/15 are the best size for estates as bring speedo correct norm have 185 pug's go up a size ie 185 to 195. but are cheaper than smaller size as more mainstream.same...

It has been diagnosed that I have a slight boost leak and that the most likely culprit is a rubber joining piece at the back of the engine. It's marked no.1 on this diagram:-

Well thanks for the prompt reply Richard, and what a relief it's not a major operation. Apparently I have one of the last remaining Xantias with a complete undertray and it's been off and on a few times lately and the bolts greased so that shouldn't be a major problem.

Silly question my C3 diesel the average MPG along with average MPH dont seem to work, if you flick it up whilst driving it driving it just scrolls. Silly question am I using it wrong? Do I need to reset it or something?

I know its trivial but its annoying!

Does the speedo work ok ? You can try resetting the mpg thingy by holding the button in for around 5 seconds.

Well, it's been discussed before . £650? indeed.

Anyway, during my latest excursion into the engine bay to try and sort the auto gearbox issues, I notice the steering pipes coated in, what looks like, thick acrid oily gunk from top to bottom.

So I'm assuming a seal at the top for now? Photos coming.

I think this car's telling me something :-D...

heya - bit baffled at this one - electric suroof (passenger compartment one) will happily open , but doesn't want to shut, can manually shut it but want to use the motor!

tried `helping it` on the motor today and it starts to shut but needs a shove from behind., but still doesn't close all the way

any idea`s?

That 2 stage closing is v useful. If you leave it in the part closed first stage position and open the row 3 quarter lights you can travel at high speed, at least as fast as a 1.9 td synergie will go, with unruffled hair and no booming. Not sure if it was a deliberate design feature or a happy accident.
