synergie sunroof wont close?
heya - bit baffled at this one - electric suroof (passenger compartment one) will happily open , but doesn't want to shut, can manually shut it but want to use the motor!
tried `helping it` on the motor today and it starts to shut but needs a shove from behind., but still doesn't close all the way
any idea`s?

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
Mine's like that. It has a safety cut out to avoid decapitating people, I think it must be based on resistance to movement. There is too much drag with aged rubber seals so,it thinks its way is blocked.
I lubricated the rubber seals that the glass runs along, with a silicone spray, and greased the pivots on the little flap thing that pops up when open, had a good clean up, and that was a temporary solution. Needs doing regularly, if you need to manually assist try pushing up on the glass, reduces the drag, rather than along.
Not sure anything will give a permanent fix. I remember my BX TRD came with a little crank handle you could plug into the motor but the Synergie has no such luxury.

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
thank you! liberal use of 3 in 1 and its gliding along (well usually)
the pop up bit pops nicely so its working again
the pop up bit doesn't go fully flat - it that normal?

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
pop the panel cover off and its 3 x T15 torx screws to lower it out

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
My Xantia sunroof didn't want to shut and it was a loose torq head screw in the arm. My previous one expired because the motor retaining screws had been left loose..
A check over for any loose screws would be my advice.
Cheers

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
hmmm now another question (gosh im full of them!)
is there a way to `reset` the sensor? seems mine wont close the last 5mm and so the deflector isn't 100% seated!

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
A bit of a guess, as it involves an anti pinch mechanism, and with some recent experience of a similar problem with an electric window that wouldn't close after changing a failed grommet., a kind forum poster put up a procedure from Citroën service which solved the problem. I'm not sure but there may be a reset if it's like the window system also anti pinch on the Xantia.

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
it seems to be sliding forwar `enough` - well the plastic catches slide into place , but the arms to the `deflector` appear to have a slight bend in them. now is this usual or should they be straight?

`job done` - seems the arms for the deflector have been bent at some point in there lives - removal and straightening sorted it - glass roof now goes flat

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
Just following up on the synergie sunroof closing question. Mine went all sleepy again, so I lubed the seals and improved things a bit. Then I stood back and looked at it, realised the channels on the outside of the roof, the ones that the roof slides into when opened, hadn't had much attention. Wrapped some kitchen roll around a screwdriver blade and spent a few minutes getting 14 years worth of crud, old leaves, greasy grunge etc out of the slots, lubed with silicone spray, now the roof works just like new.
In most cars the sunroof goes down and back, channels are protected inside the roof, in the synergie it is the opposite. The drag when closing it made the anti pinch cut in. Not sure why I didn't spot that a few years ago.

Re: synergie sunroof wont close?
good to know it all works! mine has *touch wood* been fine since - first press closes it 10cm or so , second shuts it all the way, it also closes when the central locking is pressed !
