Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I fitted day time running lights to my 2003 car. I took my feed from the fuse for the fuel pump under the bonnet so they are only on with the engine guess you may have the same.

I bought the wiring gizmo thing of ebay that either dims or switches of the lights at night, I wired this to the head light fuse again under the bonnet so the LEDs dim...

Sad but true, only sags under stress though.
I had my wife and a friend in the back of the car, a 2006 c3, and people kept flashing me even though on dip beam. Then the car 'thumped' when going over a low kerb, as the rear suspension was about grounded.
Is this normal or do I need new springs ? If anyone suggest a diet for wife and friend I will...

That is proof enough for me that I need to change these. If the people were about 10st each thast would be 120kg and mine would be level with the wheel arch at that.
Looks like standard springs should do, I just want to carry people safely and with no compressed discs for passengers on rough roads or speed ramps.

Unless you deal with the additive problem, it's likely you'll soon be in limp mode again. It's very likely to be the root cause of your issues. Why did your turbo blow up? A blocked DPF can wreck the turbo.

After some arse puckering fade last night in the barge coming down quickly from 70 :shock: i've decided that the standard discs on mine are good enough around town but as soon as you need an emergency stop around motorway speeds they let go really fast.

I am well into tuning my xantia estate 1.9td desire now. Turbo is running 22 psi at peak boost, the Bosch AS3 pump has the armour removed and the max fuel screw has been adjusted, throttle arm has been modified on the pump to give more fuel and the Lda pin has been moved to it's most...

boost gauge in dash cluster possible?

Thinking of fitting a boost gauge into the space in the dash for the oil temp (mine being an SX just has an empty space).

However its not easy measuring the gap with the cluster in place! Does anyone have an idea of what size the hole is and wether its possible to retrofit a gauge into the gap?

I'm hoping someone may be able to enlighten me about a C5 suspension fault or faults..

I took the car for its MOT and after the tester jacked the car on the ramp to test the rear suspension, the suspension deflated and would not reinflate. I discovered that the M8 main fuse was blown and on bridging this out the suspension...

My poor picasso just failed her MOT yesterday with four problems:

- service brake efficiency below requirement
- brakes imbalanced across front axle
- rear brake recording little or no effort offside rear
- exhaust major leak (middle and rear join)

The brake problems are shocking but they might be the result of a common cause, which probably is...

glad to see its sorted. Slightly belatedly, I found the exact same problem with brake unions (10mm too small, 11mm too big, including using a Flare Wrench). A 13/16 imperial spanner fits much better.

And.... the brakes look very similar to my 405. Same axle?

When replacing an engine with a complete used engine is there anything to do with the ECU? Does it need to be mapped to the injectors and if so is this the only mapping required. (C5 163 bhp 2.0 hdi)

I've had this before together with several faults caused by the wiring loom in the tailgate failing. An Auto Electrics place near me has repaired the loom on each occasion.

Don't have any experience of LPG myself but the general consensus is that its OK when its going all right. You need a specialist firm to service it which can be expensive. The main disadvantage is lack of range, I can drive to the north of Scotland and half way home again on a tank of diesel in my 406 Hdi, I always get 60 mpg+ on a long journey...

I understand there are more Ami's in France, in better condition and cheaper cost but obviously they are LHD.

does anyone know were/who posted on here stating the XANT trailing arm bearing kits from GSF are usable on a C5,

as i belive there is quite a lot of diference between most of the parts,

also were can i get just the bearings (SKF) from but not the steeler at £51 quid for a pair :shock:,

my local GSF say they no longer sell the bits...

How does the front suspension rubber return pipe fit into the suspension unit.. mine are deteriorating. Any pictures?

On the front supply side

Does anyone know what the lengths of 7 and 8 are? and are the lengths important to the suspension? Are the bends beside the spheres important?

I have ordered the new boot for my O/S rear ram. My grenade pin is free. The large hose clip thing looks re-useable.
Is there a clip at the smaller dia. end of the gaitor? What holds the boot on there and seals it?

Dear all,

My Citroen C5 Year 2007 (VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]), Petrol 2.0 headlamp is now flickering non-stop when switched on.

I suspect it is time to change the HID bulbs. I hope it is easy to change the bulb.

One behind the speedo has now blown (two behind the rev.counter blew long ago). I need to change and re-align the steering wheel before too long so it makes sense to replace all the instrument panel bulbs at the same time - otherwise a critical warning bulb is sure to blow just before the next MoT!

guys

my gearbox is feeling a bit wobbly occasional problems putting into first gear.
if in the worst case it failed what's the best option to get that fixed cheaply
can see used gearboxes for 100-250 how much would it cost to fit
if i had the transmission overhauled how much would that cost

Gear change cables on the C5, so assume the same for the Synergie, sometimes have problems caused by the outer cable coming loose in the crimped ends causing the outer cable to move in and out of the crimping instead of shifting the gear.

Might be worth taking a close look at the cables while someone works the lever.

I did both the gassing bottle and the expansion bottle and cap. It looked like it was a jubilee clip that wasn't tight. I'd had it off when I changed the thermostat so probably just didn't tighten it enough.

The crank has snapped on my c5 x7 2010 (2.0 litre 165bhp) i've stripped it down and the engine block is worn were the thrust washers contact - i've checked with engine engineering companies; they say they can't repair and a replacement block is needed. Does anybody know whether this block is used on several models? My engine code is DW10CTED4 Type...

guys

had the tyres pumped for motorway use but had to do some in town driving had the tyres pumped to 2.5 bar front and 3.0 bar back and over bumpy roads in sheffield felt like the car was going to shake itself to pieces.

would it be better if the back tyres were pumped to 2.5 bar and would it be ok on the motorway at those pressures ?

I set everything to 2.5 all round I think thats 36psi ? but car feels like it floating on air! ran it like that for a couple of weeks amazing difference. Set the back to 2.6 this time but could feel the harshness of the road coming through but less bouncy fast. I think I'll just run it always like this ...

After months of unsuccessful searching for a diesel additive ecu for my c5 I came across this

Many parts are compatible between citroen and Peugeot and they both use the same 2.2hdi engine, will this do the job?

Well it finally happened! At 297,675 miles the original clutch finally gave up. Thankfully not too far from home. I was hoping it wouild have made 300,000 and I would have had it changed on the next trip South. My 605 has taken up a strange habit.

From around 25MPH to 50MPH (haven't been any faster in it at a steady speed to investigate) the speedometer sometimes flicks up, then slowly sinks back down to correct. Then flicks up again.

The temp and oil temp gauges seem steady, and none of the telltales flicker when this occurs.

I'm not sure of the correct procedure, but would be cautious about changing all the fluid (or as much as you can) in one go. If you get air in the 'plumbing', there are bleed valves in the system which can only be operated via Lexia - likewise the ABS system.

Does anyone know what the flowrate is fr the c5 hydraulic suspension pump is at all?

i dont think its very high but need to know as a potential source for a project :)

The pump and tank attached will be the highest part in the system so I'm hoping I can easily bleed it just through pumping it for a little bit and then leaving it a day or two and then same again over the course of a week or two :)

Just been reading up about XL/Extra load rated tyres ... specifically for heavier cars/MPV type vehicles.
When I bought my C5 Tourer, it had a full matched set of Continental Premium Contact XL fitted.
Am I right in thinking that this is a bit overkill for this car or does anyone else go for the XL tyres too?
