Xantia spheres - where to buy??

Post by dav3y »

Hi all

I think I am after two front spheres ( bouncy front, accumulator good long period between ticking ) although am having a job actually buying some as all my local branches ( Hastings )either don't do them or are not sure which one is correct.

I had a shop around at various places, Jayar, euro car parts and GSF, although they all appear to have a problem finding the right citroen part for me. I had a quick ring round and ecp and gsf said yes they have them although walking into store they said, actually I am not quite sure which one you need.

I have a xantia 1.9 td sx (year 2000) which as far as I am aware is hydroactive (manual trim movement lever between front seats ) although GSF say the only front spheres they can find for my xantia is a non hydractive version. I gave them my description of what i found on their website which matched what they found which is citroen part number 95666 857.

However this is listed as non hydroactive with citroen. Have I got my model wrong? are the front spheres listed differently, or is there something on my xantia like chassis number etc that i can use to make sure i have the right spheres?

Cheers Dave

Thank you myglaren, much appreciated.

Just having a quick nose of that site, its so much easier to navigate and understand the part descriptions, I shall be calling them in the morning! (better price too)

Cheers, Dave

I go to Malcolm Lockwood for my spheres (well, pretty much anything parts related for my citroens).
Don't worry to much about what's in/not in the catalogue online, just give him a call.

An SX will be none hydractive, the lever is on all Xantias, you'll be looking for the button with a bizzare logo on for hydractive :D

AEP are the best place, rapid postage too

A couple of months ago, I ordered a complete set of spheres for the Green Lady from AEP. Best price by far, ordered Monday after lunch, arrived Tuesday morning before 10:30 (FREE delivery) - tracked delivery so I had just finished removing the 3 rear spheres knowing the new ones would arrive as promised. One thing, the all-important pipe seal for the A/S valve can't be ordered on-line from AEP, you have to place the entire order by phone and include CIT784 pipe seal.
