On the last MOT I was advised that the reading for the handbrake only just passed the test, as its the good new electronic type any one got any idea how you adjust these things, I haven't ventured under the car yet, its winter!!!
I know on the good old systems you can usually adjust at the Y piece thingy to take up any play but these new systems,...

I am asking for help on the best gasket material and thickness to make a flat flange joint for the oil cooler to oil filter body. Citroen & Peugeot only list this gasket for the 1.4 & 1.6 HDI engines which do not have the same oil coolers or joint faces as the 2.0 HDI DW10CTED4. After market oil coolers for this engine also do not come with this...

Any advice would be gratefully received. I've just done a seal rebuild. Everything seemed to go well. However, the car won't start, although it does have fuel getting through to the injectors. 2 things have come to mind, both related to timing. Firstly is it possible to fit the plunger, ramp and roller assy 180 out. The 2nd was that the rotor...

Hi everyone,
My aged leather/alloy gear knob needs replacing BUT I cannot find one that suits. My 406 has the lift up reverse (top left) type knob which requires a 90 degree anti clockwise twist and an almighty heave to remove from the shaft. Anyone know of a suitable new knob or how to refurbish the old one? Many thanks, John.

Got trouble with my 1990 Peugeot 205 XR 1.4 KDZ 75bhp. Its just done 49 000 miles.

I have driven it for several months without problem. 4 days ago is startet to get ruff to start. Its about 2 celsius degrees out side, so its not that cold. The idling becomes fine after the engine gets warm. When I put it in gear the engine dies out. After several...

Hello

The egr valve is causing problems on my 306 hdi. The small metal pipe that joints the inlet part passenger side got blocked on the small bend. So I cleaned this out but if you rev past 3k a puff of smoke comes from the egr valve.

The car feels like being held back sometimes pointing towards egr.

I could do with switching it off so it's...

Hello world,

I have again a problem with my peugeot .

The engine could not start because of the key light on dashboard. Then, I replaced the battery as some said on the web. But the light comes again yesterday and engine could not run.

This morning, it could start as nothing happen.

Could I have suggestion on this.?

I have a 508 SW 2.0 Diesel 61 reg, I have just gone over 74k miles and have suddenly lost 10mpg off my average (54.8-44.7). I am not driving any differently and using the same fuel company, nothing sounds out of the ordinary from the engine bay throttle response etc is the same as well. Is there something I need to be looking out for?

The correct gear box oil on the 306 hdi is 75w80 and it takes 2 litres.

So does this have to be fully or semi synthetic or no difference?

Thanks

Hi all,

Newbie to the forum - hoping someone can point me in the right direction..

I have recently purchased an mot failure pug 405 turbo diesel - 1997 vintage with 140k on the clock.

After some welding, ball joints and a few other bits and pieces I have got it through the mot and have been using it quite a lot.

Overall impressions are that...

Hello All,

I went and had a look at a 'Y' reg executive estate today, its about the same age is my present one but a lot less miles. The speedo display is permanently lit showing 0000 even with the key out, if you turn the ignition on it reverts to normal operation and it starts OK. Everything seems to work alright but of course it will run the battery flat...

Evening all.

We've finally replaced my grandmother's C4 HDi Coupe after ten years, with a lovely 2009 Peugeot 308 1.6 VTi S Auto.

Just 24k miles with full Peugeot history. It's superb in every way, except the heater.

There IS heat, it's just pretty pathetic. The car gets to temperature fine and stays there. Plenty of coolant and its...

Hi , is there anyone in the swindon wiltshire area that can activate my cruise control with peugeot planet, i have a 407.

Where do I start,
2000 406 hdi estate, 90 bhp.
It's an old work commuter but has been fantastic until now , I am a hgv mechanic so no issues getting my hands dirty but this problem has left me at White end

Gave car a service, since then it randomly cuts out and throws up po230, primary fuel circuit malfunction so I narrowed it down to a dodgey...

So I've been building all the parts for my 405 secret project for a while now. The only thing holding me back is the shell, mine is seriously rotten. I would happily have paid someone to do the necessary repairs, but nobody wanted the work :-s That, and due to storm damage the windscreen got broken, which Autoglass quoted £260 to replace :(

I'd...

Have a friend with a 307SW 2.0HDi on an 02 plate. The car worked fine but the key fob remote control buttons wouldn't work so she changed the battery. Now the car is stuck in Economy Mode and won't start.

I have reprogrammed the key fob and reset the BSI. The engine cranks fine but won't fire. The is plenty of fuel.

Any suggestions gratefully...

a couple of questions I'd be most grateful for advice on please.

Am gonna be doing head gasket on Daughter's Pug 106 Diesel (1527cc, 'R' plate) soon, its been weeping oil for a while, usual place corner of the block near the alternator; but surprisingly no effect on cooling - not running hot and never once topped up the coolant in her nearly...

Hi

Never owned a Peugeot before so don't know what to expect from the automatic box., or the car for that matter. I recently test drove a 2003 HDi 110 auto estate with comprehensive independent service history. It's clearly been looked after and is clean and tidy throughout. It seems to be a bit of sluggish drive though and although it changes...

Hi everyone I really hope you can help me solve this one. I will give you a quick run down of what work has been done over the last couple of weeks.
It started with the headgasket failing leaking a lot of oil out thus the turbo run dry and killed that. The van was driving very slow only getting to 50mph on the motorway. So I have replaced the head...

I bought a lexia tool from ebay about a year ago for the 807, not much success with either really although I could read some faults and correct them.

I now have an 806 with the EML light on, car is running fine but would like to check it and see why it's on. However my lexia won't plug into the socket on the 806, it seems to be a completely...

Good morning,

I am new to this site, and hoping someone may be able to help me. I have had a look / search for the info requested below, and apologise if I have missed an obvious post elsewhere.

I have PP2000, reasonable mechanical knowledge and plenty of tools. I have a garage full of (mostly) crap, which means working outside. I have owned...

Hi all,

I have a acquaintance who has a 407 sw hdi 136bhp with 160k mls (261000km) on the clock

the dual mass flywheel has failed.

I was thinking of the KIT4P that valeo sells to make it single mass flywheel again.

do you really need to remove the engine to gain access to the gearbox or is gearbox hoist easier?

Around a month ago I became the proud owner of an M plate 605 SVE. I thought it was time I joined up.

I've always wanted a 605, but as I'm sure many of you know they're not easy things to find. So when this popped up online, I went to Cheshire from Huntingdon to pick it up before anyone else could.

It was cheap, and as you'd expect, it has...

Anyone knowing the torque settings for the two bolts holding the injector on a 1.6.HDI, 2004 407?

I seem to have a fairly early 405 Series II, it's an STI 2.0 Automatic 1993 flavour.

A lot of things seem to be different on this to the later Series II models, have already discovered heater fan assembly and air conditioning unit/pressure switch (and the fact it's an R12 system) is completely different.

Does anyone know about the alarm though....

Evening all.

I presume this is a fairly common issue and my apologies if it's been covered recently, but could anyone point me in the right direction here.

Just bought (another!) 405 auto and on this one the heater fan is always on full blast, the previous owner had had to take the fan fuse out to stop the noise. I thought it may have been the...

Hi,after having a Citroen C5 for 10 yrs we thought a change of car was in order :-)
We have purchased a Peugeot 3008 1.6hdi Active manual on a 12 plate with 17000 miles ,on test drive didn't really notice anything amiss, but there is a slight squeak of the clutch pedal when depressed, have looked under dash and there is a spring, could this be the...

The wifes 206 has suddenly developed a spongy pedal, which over today suddenly got to the point where you can't lock the wheels even standing on the pedal

checked the system for leaks and nothing, dry as a bone. MC is brimmed, pedal firms up when engine is off so vacuum works fine. Rear cylinders were changed last year and front hoses at...

Hi Frenchcarforum!

I'm new here. Just bought a little 1.1 ''95 205 for £200. Near mint inside and out. No MOT and SORN but sold because the old lady owner of 15 years wasn't fit to drive any more. Definitely not thrashed.

This is my first older car, well my first car ever, so it's very different to what I'm used to. I learnt in a 2011 Merc A...

The steering wheel has a squeak bearing as there no metal contacts the the horn.

The noise has come back recently and it's coming from the steering colum bearing area. I changed steering wheel a while ago custom boss one no air bag.

So can these bearings at the top of the steering colum be bought new or second hand?

I can see the bearing so it...

I have a 407 and noticed I had no brake light on the left, after investigating I discovered that there was no lights on the left atal, checked for power and there is no power on the left in any of the wires, what could be wrong? Thanks in advance

Hi folks,
Mate of mine own peugeot 406 and call me with problem. The passenger window start going down, but not up. My first thought was for wear mechanical part and difficult move in the box where the cable roller is, or the sliding plastic element move hard. The voltage measure straight on the motor plug with multimeter show normal and reverse...

Hello I have a 2006 607 2.2hdi(170). I was getting a lot of trouble with faults all coming on at the same time. Dpf seat belt pretensioners brakes, power steering, immobiliser. It was traced back to a faulty injector on number 1 cylinder which was replaced. And in doing so it spiked the ecu. I have sent the ecu to a specialist and they have...

Hey all. Well I bled out my brakes today but found the brake pedal has softened and has more travel on it. I did not use the diagbox software. Where do i find this in Lexia? i've looked under diagnosis, repair, maintenance, cant find anything.

Hi Guys
I have a 1.4 HDI turbo oil feed pipe seems to be leaking at the flexi part. Has anyone repaired this even on a temporary basis? I cant afford a new pipe at the moment and I'm tempted to clean it and cover it with EP200. I know this would make it solid but the new ones are solid too. Any suggestions??
