Dodgy brakes 206

Post by chinkostu »

The wifes 206 has suddenly developed a spongy pedal, which over today suddenly got to the point where you can't lock the wheels even standing on the pedal

checked the system for leaks and nothing, dry as a bone. MC is brimmed, pedal firms up when engine is off so vacuum works fine. Rear cylinders were changed last year and front hoses at the same time.

It's always had a slightly soft pedal but would bite well, just a bit further down. its now nearer the bottom

If my ex wife's 206 ever had problems it was always brakes, and always the back brakes. It chucked a pad out which needed new discs pads and a caliper, then one rear one, the other side locked on, needing a caliper on it, and flat spotting a tyre which was on its last legs anyway, then again locked a wheel, broken disc, meant another set of discs and pads. That's one of the reasons we sold it, she was getting to the stage she was scared to drive it

never had issues with discs on the back of them

sad to say its drums on the back, can't easily check the adjuster either especially not at this time :(

would a buggered auto adjust really affect it that much? :x
