Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I've now got a 3008 with alloy wheels with the poxy temporary spare wheel that looks like it belongs on a wheelbarrow, is there any reason why I can't buy a steel rim and fit the same size tyre as the alloys to replace the spare. Can I use the normal wheel bolts that are used for the alloys, or do I need bolts for steel wheels.

Took car to get it tracked a couple of days ago ( Peugeot 3008) 60 plate mileage 1500.

The picture below shows what came off the tracking machine, the mechanic showed me the graph and said the near side rear is out, as its a nearly new car take it back to the dealer, anyway we can't alter these settings. So back to the dealer with the report....

When we had a Scenic II we had the same problem, the rear wheels were toed in considerably. It went back to Renault who said it was just within tolerances (they had obviously set them wide) and that it was 'how they all are'. Vehicle: 306 restyle (N5)

When setting up for diagnosis, it asked for the production number - which per a picture onscreen was above the RPO on the door jamb label.

Now... Jamb label was missing due to refin work; RPO was barely readable in the engine bay (green ink on white paint; two numbers barely there).

Are Peugeot able to furnish this...

also i had a fault on a 206 were my DIAG could not see the ECU even with the correct RP No. enterd,

it turned out to be the ECU protection relay which is a double sized brown relay under the ECU, or at least on a 206 it is, it had a chunck out of the caseing and it was full of water,

took my car in for a diagnostic and had a new battery, MAF sensor and fuel pressure regulator.

The car feels better than ever to drive, nice and smooth and feel like some of the power is back.

However, i usually got around 600-650 from a tank so I averaged 45mpg.

Now ive noticed when I brim the tank im getting around 500miles.

Ive checked that...

Been thinking about the pro's and cons of running a bit of Vegtable oil in with my diesle. I know you still need to pay duty on it if it goes in the tank so does it work out much cheaper than diesle or is it not worth the hastle. Im thinking of running half and hallf as not sure what it will run like with 100% veg. 2.1td with 160k on it btw.

after running my old Astra TDS on 80% veg oil with no difference in performance (apart from the smell), makes sure you have a Bosch pump and it's an old indirect diesel. Avoid putting any veg oil at all into a Lucas system. I naively bought a 2.1 TD 406 with that idea but have never been able to do it.

I need to replace the rear abs sensor on my mothers 307 and i was looking for the part no, is there a site like the citroen service site where i might get the info i need, the local peugeot want €70 + vat, i've seen then on ebay for €25 + postage

I would remove abs wheel speed sensor using a 5mm allen key remove any rust between back plate & sensor refit sensor make sure gap between
sensor & bearing does not exceed 1mm. You most likely have to fit a shim between sensor and back plate to get the required gap. Hth Regards mickeybo

Battered out the inside of the FAP filter and put back on , remapped the ECU to de-fap and increase bhp and torque -

standard 180 lb ft of torque ,went to 280 lb ft

I need to fit new clutch cylinders to my 97 406 2.1Tdi and was wondering how hard a job it is. Already got the Slave out so not worried about that but the master cylinder looks a pig to get to. Not as far as I am aware no.

The 306 ones (should) fit although will need the Partner bases (the metalwork in effect) , although I've not tried.

I think the Saxo / 106 / 205 ones are too narrow to bolt the bases on. It could be done (I put metro seats into a Beetle with a lot of square box section a few years ago, but it was not pleasant to do...

My radio seems to have very little gain or a weak signal from the aerial, in some places I can only pick up one station, Tescos car park in Axminster for instance, at home where we are fairly high I can pick up a few but in some places nothing at all.

OK, I'm slightly stuck. :?

How do you remove the Eurovox head unit in a 605? When fitted to Peugeots, does it have a retainer bracket or strap to the rear, accessed from underneath? I'm guessing later 405s and many Xantias shared pretty much the same unit (boxy LCD screen to the LHS, cassette slot up top and stacker in the boot).

my peugeot partner van with the dw8 engine is slowly put oil in the header tank , but no water is getting into the oil system, have by pass the oil cooler unit on the oil filter housing , and is still the same , i would say head gasket has gone , would like to know is this common fault or do the heads crack need the oil way , many thanks

There is a sniffer tool that works on a chemical reaction that one can place over the expansion tank filler neck which picks up combustion gas particles as they permiate out the filler neck. Presumably the same process works on diesels. Anyway, if it is a blown head gasket (with combustion gas leaks) then this will be indicated by a colour change...

Hi.. I have a recently aquired 405 SRDT that has thrown a few curve balls at me in my efforts to put it back on the road. One that I am less concerned about but none the less curious about is a cyclic groaning type noise from under the left side of the dash (a RHD car). I am sorry if i have posted this in the wrong section but i had to say a big thank you to MikeT and Toby for there help today with my 407.

With all my woes with the car it was so refreshing to meet people who genuinly share a passion to help others and share their knowledge (im a car numpty).

Hello everyone. Noticed an unusual warning light on the dash of my 407. I hve got the 5 dial dash and it's on right hand side above oil temp indicator. The light illuminates with ignition on and goes off instantly engine cranks over. It is a picture of a seated person with safety belt. Facing left with big circle on their lap with an x in the...

That is the passenger airbag light.

Turn engine off (you`ll have to as you need the key to do 'switch' the air bag anyway) and then use your key to turn the red airbag switch

Then switch the ignition on again and see the difference in the light.

Return airbag switch to the correct position when done.

Hi folks how do i find out if my puggy 307 hdi is a 90 bhp or 110 bhp?
i cant seem to find anything regarding bhp on it,even my insurance cert just says reg number and car model nowt else,looked at the service books nothing there either,nowt on the door inserts etc,please help thanks

Can anyone tell me where the map sensor goes on a 2.1 12v. Mines been dangling under the car since i got it. Didnt know what it was until i looked the part number up. Still got the pipe attached to it to. :shock:
Also what effect would having this missing have on my engine as at the moment its totally gutless and would be nice if plugging this...

Ok thanks again Jim, iv calmed down a bit now. Im an engineer so can make up the bleed nipple assembly you come up with. Will give it a try next week. Nothing to loose i guess.

Morning all, I have a '98 model 106 diesel with PAS.
I've just had the clutch replaced by a friend.
Immediately afterwards the clutch biting point was very high and the clutch was slipping.
We decided to replace the old automatic adjuster cable with a new one (apparently there isn't a manual adjustment type alternative).
The biting point is now...

but a bent fork would cause disegagement problems and wouldnt account for the clutch still slipping

Depends which way it was bent I'd imagine. If it was bent in such a way as to be exerting force on the diaphragm via the release bearing them it might slip...

any body fitted a set of leather seats to there 406 ive fitted the back set dont have the seat ecu so want to just wire up the motors ive figgered out most of the wires but there is 4 yellow wires a brown and orange that go to the motors cant find a wiring diagram so help :D

Find out where he lives, and go pour a puddle of LHM under the front of his car...

He knows what LHM is Adam as he had loan of one of my Xantias for a while that sprang a leak on his driveway... He also knows that the 406 has no green blood in it..

He's pretty useful with cars himself although he spends his time delving into his Nissan 200SX...

Hi all,

am hoping to pick someones brains ref my 2001 206 1.9 non turbo diesel, which has started running flat over the last few weeks.

Car has done 97 K miles and starts first time from cold though ticks over about 750 RPM which i think is a little slower than before.

circs are, from cold car starts, but is very flat/slow accelerating until it...

Afternoon all! I come to this fine site after a recommendation from the 406 owners club. I have an unusual prob with my newly purchased 406 2.1 estate, great car by the way. The thing is, after about 30 min's at normal operating temp, under load the car will suddenly start knocking quite badly as though an injector has gone down, if I back off the...

Mine does exactly the same thing. I ave also just found my map sensor hanging down under the car though so will try plugging that back in first.Just got to find out where it goes.

Just answered that in your other thread James! Take heed of the importance of having good leakoff pipes as well, they are unbelievably critical on the EPIC...

Hi all,

I'm sorry if this has been covered elsewhere on the forum.
I have got a Peugeot 206 Hdi, with an intermittent clicking/ticking sound similar to a knackered alternator pulley.
The alternator pulley has been replaced by the local garage, still same noise, so the garage decided to replace the belt tensioner, which seemed to quieten the noise...

hi i got my 306 in november it was doing about 100miles on £10
now its doing about 50 miles on £10 i know fuels gone up but not that much
it still runs the same no smoke etc pulls well

any ideas ???

Having past its MOT today for another 12mths.

I replaced the front lower wishbone arms on the last MOT, so I guess they will want replacing on the next MOT as we all know they are a common failure.

As its alot cheaper to replace the bushes rather than the arms, as I've done on my previous cars.

Anyone know if the front and rear bushes on the...

'99 turbo diesel 406 estate.

Front o/s spring snapped today taking the tyre out too. Luckily was only travelling slowly.
Car is about 1/2 a mile from home and currently un-driveable.
My question is, if i cut the spring off, would i be able to drive 1/2 mile home to complete the repair?

Late 405 blower fan stopped working. Fuse looks OK.
Is there a most likely single cause?
I see there is a control module - would you take a gamble on just replacing it, without further diagnosis?

On mine it was cracked solder joints behind the slider mechanism on the dash. Had to remove it and resolder them, bit of a pain to get out.

I've always thought the clutch in the 1.9td (reverse action or push clutch) was a bit too heavy. I was just wonderign if there was any known way to improve it significantly? I re-greased the spline while the box was off and the cable's new but it's still very close to the same. I don't think there's anything wrong with it as all the ones I've used...

Hi all I'm new to the forum. On a Peugeot 206 with automatic transmission the two lights on the dashboard start flashing with the engine running. Thsese are the light with a snow flake on it and the other has an S on it. I had a look on the owners manual and it says that when these two lights appear then there is a problem with the automatic...

A friend of mine used to have a Xantia HDi Automatic and this same fault was caused by someone spilling coffee on the Sport/Snow Buttons.

hi all well if you have read my other thread you will no my gearbox is nackered. well i have now come accross a td engine, gearbox, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, downpipe and the turbo

im going to chuck this lot in, just wondering iff ive mist anything out and do you no iff any of the wiring is differrent.

If the donor engine has a keypad operated pump and the original doesn't, the easiest thing to do is swap the pumps, if its the other way round it doesn't matter as all you have to do is connect an ignition switched supply to the fuel solonoid.

Hi guys

I had new pads fitted to my 2.1 td before I set off on a 2000ml trip.I was told that the front disca were worn and could do with replacing,didnt have any time for them to be done..They are now giving off a slight rumbling under braking..Could you tell me,is it an easy job to do,diy ??

Hi, new to the forum so do please bear with me. I have an 04 136BHP 407 and for the past year (yes year) i have had the following problem. Every 4/600 miles the engine sounds flat and deep. It hesitates badly and feels very lumpy. When this happens i have 2 x options. Drive very gently and it passes or drive as normal and the MAGICAL engine...

Citronut, thanks (dont need reminding) but good point.

To be honest the engine is now guaranteed for 24 months and at the time of initial quote it seemed the best option. My concern at the time was if i purchased a different car or engine i may still have the same problems later on down the line. That said in hinedsight yes probably the right...

Hi is it possible for the independant controls for the temperature to be linked as I am fed up having to set 2 controls, 2 zone heating , only handy if your giving an eskimo a lift P.S it's a 05 307 sw 1.6 hdi . as always thanks in advance .

I like the idea of the dual zone climate, as i often want to be a different temperature to my passenger!

However, im not sure if or when the controls changed on the 307. I know on the S1 C5s you could not set them by using one side, you had to adjust both. But with the C5II you can set it so everything adjusts together.

Might be in your menu...

Hi all ive purchased a peugeot partner 98 1.9d non turbo. the gearbox is nackered no 1st / 2nd / reverse / neutral 3rd gear is neutral. checked all linkages nothing wrong at all from what i can see.

anyway i have a turbo diesel gearbox just wanted to no how much higher geared they are as i no the non turbo diesel are very slow anyway just don't...

I don't have a list of what is different. Obviously the turbo engine is a lot different internally (oil cooling jets for the pistons, different crank etc)

But the N/A units I'm not that sure, its tiny internal improvements generally. You may find breather pipes are moved slightly etc but that's about all you will see with the...

one of my pulleys for the fan belt has broken up, at first we thought it was the crank shaft pulley however when we looked it was fine. i found a piece of outter metal this is how the noise started. the fan belt has stayed on and the car is running good but we have no idea where this strip of metal is from? any ideas guys?
