307 Automatic issues

Unread post by PC2CV »

A friend has a 307 1.6 Automatic.
It has an intermittent fault when travelling up hills it will go into what seems like a limp mode and the car will say "gearbox fault"
I have seen this after reading it on the PP2000 machine:

Would the pressure regulation mean low fluid,i tried to check the level but could not see any dipstick for the gearbox.

Which type of automatic transmission is fitted to the car? If you don't know, then get the VIN and someone can look it up.

This box is well known for having trouble with the solenoid valves that cause pressure regulation faults and random gear engagement problems.

However, not sure if the lower 2 faults are related - they look possible more like faults with the underbonnet fuse box - are there any faults recorded in that ECU? They could be 'collateral damage' from the valves though I suppose!!

Almost certainly will need modified electrovalves & the software updated.
The other 2 faults will be 'phantom' faults.

That's what I thought really, just hanging on there might be a crumb of comfort for the OP!!
