207 Jacking Point?
Hi,
I have the manual but it only shows the side sills for the jack that came with the car. I need to jack up the front of the car with an hydraulic jack. Does anyone know where the jack points are for that?
Is it the bit circled in the picture or is it elsewhere?
Thank you

Re: 207 Jacking Point?
The jacking point is the thick bit on the sill with the hole in it. Don't jack it where you have indicated you will collapse the floor! Better to jack under the subframe if you can.

Ah right ok thanks, so a standard trolley jack will go under the sill with the hole?

I would not use anything except the standard jack on/in that jacking point.
As Richard said, use the jacking point (with the correct jack) or use the subframe mounting.
NEVER go under the car if the only support is a jack...VERY DANGEROUS

Re: 207 Jacking Point?
PSA sill jacking points are notoriously frail, and are easily damaged if sideways forces are applied to them.
If using a hydraulic jack, position it under one of the subframes, with a slab of timber to spread the load and protect underseal.
Good safety advice above.

Re: 207 Jacking Point?
Otherwise, jack on the flat areas of the subframes near to the suspension mounts... NEVER on the floor or on the chassis rails as already said...
I only use the subframe to jack up on if I subsequently then want the car on axle stands. I pop them under the sill jacking points...
To jack up a 207 you need a trolley jack that's very low-reach
Chris, I agree the sill jacking points can get frail but on a 207 they should still be fine unless the car has lived in a wet salt mine all its life..
If you jack on a sill point and you hear crunching noises then stop and jack on the subframes!!!

Re: 207 Jacking Point?
Hello, thank you all for some great advice, so basically jack on the sub frame, secure with axle stands on the sills?

Re: 207 Jacking Point?
just a mention, that I, in my younger days, have jacked a car on the very point you circled.... and wished I hadn't. You are NOT alone.
No, jack it on Sub Frame and axle stand it on the subframe too. I never jack on the Cills.
When I was a newbie I didn't really know what a sub-frame was; do say if you don't either and I'll find an illustration / photo.
Or you might find that your Haynes manual has got an 'underbody' view near the front of the book, which shows it quite well, mine has.
Further tip: if you're a bit unsure what you're doing and you can find a similar car in a scrapyard (not always easy these days), try n do the job on the scrapper as a 'practice', exercising extra care wth jacking and having someone with you. If it all goes T U you're not 'lost' and you've got extra confidence for the real thing.
And finally.... a reiteration. Never go under a car when its on just a jack; and don't take the wheels off (but do loosen the studs) until you've positioned the axle stands. I had my jack 'fail' a few months back, (probably hadn't done up the valve properly) and the milli-second that it took for a ton or more of car to fall a couple of inches from my hydraulic jack onto the stands I was about to lower it gently onto was truly frightening.

Re: 207 Jacking Point?
Where would you put the axle stand on the sub frame?
Re: 207 Jacking Point?
So bit confused now, bearing in mind my first car was an old x reg Fiesta which I used to pull apart daily with reckless abandon I am quite comfortable with cars but having put a jack through a floor before have always learnt to use the right jacking points.
So bit of conflicting info, where is the best place for the axle stands, on the reinforced loop bit on the sill or under the sub frame and if so where?
I only have some halfords axle stands, if on the sill, do I need to put anything on the axle stands or does the sill loop just sit on top of them?
Thanks all

Axle stands on the reinforced areas of the sills...
Take it from me, I look after daughter's 207 and that's where I always axle-stand it...
Ditto my own cars too...

Ok cool, do you use anything on the axle stand? Or just as is?
