Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Oh agree its a simple engine, I do prefer the cast block ones (1.6 only?) though not really keen on the liner units seems like more work having to clamp them before turning the crank (I've always done that although if anything would move if I did not, not sure never tried) :)

Does anyone know the possibility to exchange the oem turbocharger of Peugeot 806 HDi with Variable Nozzle (VN) turbocharger + ceramic ball bearing type, the objective to have turbocharger active at lower RPM where the result more tourque. Where the reference data could be reviewed?

Doubt you will find a ball bearing VNT in the size to run a standard 806. Ball bearings are normally reserved for the larger high power petrol turbos.
You can fit 360degree thrust bearings to the smaller units, which is an improvement. Something like a GT1752V would be a good unit, with enough capacity for a strong remap.

hi all,bought this 307 knowing possible engine damage. last owner was driving normal speed/revs and they heard clunk,engine dies. AA comes out not bothered looking and noticing the belt tried coming through the cam casing attempts to restart car,lol. anyway,i have removed the cam rover cover and inspected. i cant see any obvious damage to valves...

I am changing lower arms for a friend on a 206 2002.. as expected I couldn't really help but lose some gear oil when removing Nearside arm.. hard to say how much, probably a mug full..

now another problem. ive had the main air filter housing removed and refitted on a 1.4hdi. i must have damaged the splitter on top of one of the injectors with fuel coming out when starting,ran for few seconds then stopped. i have repaired it for now and car wont start and no fuel coming through. tried manually priming several times with nothing...

Hi all, I've just picked up yet another 1.4hdi, this was diagnosed with having blown the oil seals in the turbo before I bought it. How good that diagnosis is, I don't know. Upon inspection there is a fair amount of oil on the turbo itself and around the cylinder head. You should be able to see this from the pictures.

Problem solved, it was the air resonator hose seal. Not sure what happened to it, but it wasn't present. New one in place and no more oil. The starting problem was down to a poor battery, obviously not cranking fast enough.

Having had the 306 airbag light flashing on several occasions before I had always managed to cure it by cleaning the plugs under the seat.

This time though the light was solid rather then flashing. I scanned it with Peugeot Planet and got two faults:

Permanent Fault: Driver's module trigger. Open Circuit.

Tenner for a replacement this morning and the car is now without warning lights and in for it's MOT.

Just a quick one :)

1. Late 106's (radio frequency remotes) , if I remember correctly new ones *need* Diag2000 / Planet to code the remote locking yes ?

2. Where is the code retained ? , in the remote lock control box (glovebox) or in the cph (around column) , reason being it still functions without the cph but I'd half suspect it may not be...

Evening all,

I was checking the window washers whilst the engine was running and on opening the bonnet there was a strong wiff of exhaust. I had a good look for anything obvious and came across what looks like a sooty deposit on the top section of what I think is the turbo oil feed pipe.

Can anyone shed any light? I obviously don;t want to...

My 607 is doing my head in with it's warning chimes.

With almost every journey, there'll be a sudden BEEP at some point and a Cooling circuit fluid level too low message. The coolant is sitting perfectly at the maximum mark and remains there constantly. Does anyone have any ideas where the sensor is? Perhaps it just needs a good clean.

Now then,

my 206 runs the DW8 1.9 non turbo and has done 110k. she runs well but for the past 10 thousand miles she has started to eat aux belts. at first i thought nowt of changing belt on it but it lasted 2000 mile before shredding. I fitted another after checking the pulleys to make sure there were no sharp edges or anything that would cause...

Peugeot 206, 1.4l Petrol (not sure if its 8v or 16v - not mine), 2006 model.

Then engine cuts out when slowing down, alway's re-starts instantly when using the ignition. Happens everyday, but not all of the time when slowing down, but usually more than once as car is driven majority of time in Urban areas. Occassionaly cuts out when going round...

I was hoping someone can recommend a scanner tool that would work well with my 2001 306 hdi?

My engine management light has come on again and im getting tired of paying £40 for a diagnosis. All I want to do is be able to reset the codes and then read the 'actual' codes that come back on

with the HDI it depends whether it has a Seimens ECU or a Bosch one.

The Seimens ECU won't work with cheap generic scanners at all. The Bosch one will work but you only get emissions related error codes. For example if the cam sensor is disconnected the engine won't start but a generic scanner doesn't read that code.

I did a bit of a front end rebuild today including pulling the drive shafts to change the CV boots wishbone bushes etc end drained the transmission fluid.

The manual said that this range of cars needs engine oil (15w40) in the transmission up to 1988, and then 75w80ep post 1988. It also says the capacity is 2.0L.

Pretty sure the seal is leaking because it was not changed.There are lots of after market seals but the O/E ones with the built in white plastic outer bit are by far the best and much safer to fit.I`ve never seen or used any special fitting tools just great care in fitting the seal in the diff and then sliding the shaft in.

Hi all
i bet this has been discussed to death but i just need some clarification

306hdi 2.0l 2000 model

car wont start
tank pump not powering up
replaced brown relay its a bitron thing and hey presto it all works

HOWEVER

2 days later its the same problem????
I can power the pump from the lights so the car is drivable but why does this relay...

Someone was telling me how the whole cam-driven PAS pump idea was a really bad design, because it causes a potential very massive vulnerability.

They said something along the lines of, that if you park the car with the steering in a certain position (full lock I think), and then go and start the...

My daughters 2001 Peugeot 106 needs a new headlight.

I have been told the bumper needs to come off and is held on by 5 10mm bolts.

Well I can find two of them, the two on the outside behind the wheel arch liner.

I cannot find any others.

Does anyone have a picture of where they are please, or can be a bit specific in words to their location.

Ay up!

We have a problem with the power roof on this. All the fuses and relays I can find check out and the motor whirrs when power is applied directly. However, the switch has no effect at all and the motor does not move the roof. There's plenty of oil in the reservoir and no sign of any leaks.

Is there another fuse or relay I need to look for...

Trouble is anyone interested in a convertible wants to drive with the hood down and the wind in their hair. They wont be interested if its not working or will give you an insulting offer.You will get good money for a nice 306 convertible with the hood in working order.You never know it may just a simple fault and not very expensive to fix??

My 305 has odd wheels. The two rear wheels are different to the two front ones.

The front ones have bigger vent holes and more pressings (holes have raised bits around them, and caliper bulge has a more pronounced apex).

The rear wheels are much more basic, with just oval smaller vent holes, not raised bits around them, and the 'caliper bulge'...

So, there is one issue that's really annoying me about the 305. Its a really cool car, very practical, much nicer to drive then a diesel Passat of that age, etc.

But the one problem that's been plaguing this car are clutch cables. In my few months of owning it, it has averaged more then one cable per month.

Hello French Car Forum Members,

Right I have had this car for a few months sorting the problems as they have either concerned me or as i could sort them and recently discovered that the turbo does not appear to be working.

I have 3 turbos before this (Citroen Xantia diesel auto, 406 hdi) and did'nt have problems with those and you hear the turbo...

Well, you have a boost-actuated wastegate on this, so very little else is going to influence tbh.
Check the short hose running from the turbo compressor housing to the wastegate actuator (split, loose or fallen off).
Then check that the actuator works. A bicycle pump can often mimic boost quite well.

Is it possible to do away with the imobiliser on my '99 306 hdi 2.00. It is the type where you have to touch a spot on the steering colum with a black key thingy. It is a dam pain to have to touch this dam button when starting the car especialy in the dark.

Hi, what a day I've had, took me ages to get cambelt covers off!! I can see a timing mark in the camshaft pulley, and two threaded holes on the injection pump but nothing to align them with, and under the cam pulley there looks like some other mechanical device, is it ok to jam a bolt in this to lock the engine? looked for a hole into fly wheel...

It is more or less the same. Hole in flywheel near starter motor and hole in cam pulley. Use the correct tool (cheap from Ebay) as bolts never are quite good enough I find.

as subject says, how do i change oil in the gearbox? i can see a plu to empty it but how to fill and how much? i have demounted the airfilter box to see more of the gearbox but cant find anything anyway? is it a fillingpipe in the same plug where i drain it?? as i dont know where to fill it i dont dare to release the bottomplug :)

So, to add to the broken spring and self destructing grab handles now one of our ignition keys has given up!

I unlocked the car as usual (i.e. remotely) but when I turned the key I got an electronic anti theft faulty message, and whilst the engine was cranking it wouldn't start. Initially I thought the worst but was relieved when the spare key...

was on the point of ordering a cam belt kit for my 2001 306 diesel DW8, but first looked on youtube for tutorial,
found one, but for the XUd engine, thought it cant be very different !!!
but having spent all afternoon trying to locate flywheel locking hole, it was supposed to be below the starter motor,
but have looked every where, all i can see...

Hi all

I was wondering - r.e. buying a 407. (First Pug in a while - not since a 205 many years ago)

Would I be better off with a lower mileage and much more basic petrol car - is an HDi engine with a full history still running ok a 80/90,000 miles - as opposed to a low miles 1.6/8/2.0 petrol.

I don't really care about spec and don't do many...

That is the best colour for a 407 in my opinion, you don't see it too often either. Looks like a tidy example, low miles and a good spec. Price seems about right, though £2200 would be probably closer to what its worth. If its a good one I never mind paying a bit more.

I am afraid it's another question from me (sorry!).

The one thing that really annoys me about my 305 is that it has non-power steering. I am pretty small (my excuse is that I am a bassist and tall bassists just don't look right!), and this car has heavy steering. I checked all the steering joints and strut tops and etc, and I am pretty sure there...

Well, another small update in my quest to get power steering, I found a suitable fluid reservoir.

It came out of a Boxer I think, or Ducato, or something like that.

I found a nice place for it on the firewall, and connected it to the pump. Since I don't have a rack yet, its just connected to the pump.

Hi folks,
This is my first post on the forum so go easy on me. The rev counter on my 806 works fine on start up and for anything up to 10 mins then drops to 0 and doesn't work again until restart. Any ideas. :)

Hello guys,

My motor failed the MOT on both front lower suspension ball joint boots. I assumed this was a case of changing both ball joints but the MOT guy told me they just replace the boots.

Has anyone done this, and on a 406?

Fat chance of finding a righ-hand 305 XUD pas rack (I think even the UK Peugeot specialist guy doesn't have one), so may need to look into an alternative.

Oh, that would be very useful! Could you measure the length of the actual rack (so the distance between the two inner rod end mounting flanges). I think I already know that the bolt spacing is 320mm, but would be nice to confirm.

After months of trying to fix my 306 HDi D Turbo I now think that the ECU is at fault. I've replaced lift pump, high pressure pump, fuel pressure sensor, etc. This was done because I had a code telling me that my fuel pressure was to blame for not running. However I now can no longer get any response from the ECU when I have the computer hooked up...

A used cheap one should work as I posted above however you *must* have the key from that car, or a minimum the transponder chip from that key. Then it should not need coding if you fit that chip into your existing key.
