Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I have had this light on for several months but no faults have been thrown up can anyone advise please?

I think it has something to do with the auto handbrake but I am not sure.

I have gone through the setting on the steering wheel and changed the option to on or off but he light stays on and nothing changes.

Just been acquiring a fresh Berlingo in the form of a 2017 Multispace Flair 120 with 21000 on the clock.
I noticed it has central locking as per my Enterprise van, but not the factory alarm, as the van came with.

Evening all,

I'll try and describe this as best I can!

My C5 X7 Exclusive Tourer (83k miles 59 plate) rides very well on the motorway and over slowly undulating roads, soaks them up like no other car I have owned. When I slow down and go over a speed bump or similar bump in the road, I can feel the rear left of the car almost buck. That side...

I had both rear spheres replaced recently at a specialist in Oxford and the ride is silky smooth now.

The battery in Robyn's Series 1 C1 (14 plate) has finally died... Not altogether surprising as it's been ailing for a few weeks now...

Is there any special precautions or procedures that need to be taken when replacing it?

I can arrange a second battery in parallel as as a 'keep alive' if need be...

Hello again,

Some of you may remember that following my timing belt disaster, I discovered the Vac' pump on my ZX (direct drive from the cam) was a wee bit broken where it connects to the camshaft.

(I drew a beautiful solid model of said broken bit and posted it in a previous thread)

Just took a punt on a used one on ebay - £22 with postage :D...

So often the cause of the 'failure' of these pumps is a totally blocked exhaust port. I seem to recall it has a little filter in there...

I've renewed the o-rings on mine and an hour later was offered one for £20 free p&p from a 70000 mile engine, took the deal.

My 2004 C5 estate has had intermittent faults with the wiper and opening the boot for some time. (Usually OK in warm weather)
Now it's given up the ghost completely- the only thing working is the washer jet and I have to open the boot from inside with a screwdriver.

Looks like this is a common fault in older cars of different makes. Yup. And not so old ones sometimes. The Citroen Xsara was well known for this.

I have a quandry;
I have a well sorted Mk1 c5 exclusive but have now found a similar Mk3 for sale.
Is it worth updating or should I stick to the known and reliable Mk1 and save my cash?

Mine has no FAP to worry about and has all the usual age related jobs done, but the Mk3 is more powerful (140 bhp vs 110 ) and also reputedly well sorted with new...

Hi all,

I think the suspension in my Xantia Exclusive is defaulting to hard mode. I know this is a problem in XMs (Mine had had the Wolsey House permanent soft mod done to hide it until Jim Eastment rectified it for me). Do the Xantia Hydractive ECUs also fail in the same way?

If they do, can you please advise as to a solution? Or does anyone...

Sounds as if the system is switching between Soft and Firm.

Xantia is a firmer ride than XM, and non-Hydractive cars (except the sporty versions) tend to be softer sprung than Hydractive ones. When Hydractive first appeared, the firmer ride was noted, even though it was probably part of a general drift towards a firmer ride by Citroen.

I have a 2.0 HDi xsara picasso

only on cold starts does it idle quite unevenly, if i just touch the throttle to increase revs slightly it becomes a full on misfire and kicks out a fair amount of smoke

however if i rev it slightly more it smoothens out and idles beautifully, only ever does this on a cold start, runs beautifully all subsequent...

My Relay has now started to display error 'Parking Help Unavailable' every time I turn it on.

I have bought a new sensor and tried in turn to change each one and get the error on switch on each time. Is there a module that I can test next or what is the best fault finding method? The rear buzzer does sound if that makes a difference....

If you mean the RH rear seat then it's the cover over the TSU (tank sender unit). It's in the same place on virtually all PSA cars. The TSU can also incorporate an in-tank fuel pump if that particular engine needs one.

Hi all,
I’m new to the forum and maybe someone already had the same issue like me.
I decided to depressurise the system in order to check the LDS level.
It was done using Lexia.
It all worked fine, the car went all the way down.
The only issue is that it won’t move.

Yes, it is indeed a Lucas pump. My mistake.

It is leaking from the top cover of the unit. I understand that there is an option to have it serviced and replace seals, however, like I said I cannot find anyone that can repair it where I live. This is the reason that I am looking into the option of replacing it as well. :-D

Just needing some info on procedure for changing auto trans oil-(level fill plugs ,is there a filter ect.) to prolong it's life, the service history book that came with the car, said that the oil was quite black, and to change often till it became clear.Can someone help with this .Cheers. Wondering if any one can help, I've got a couple of issues with a mk1 Relay 2.0.
I know that my track rods need replacing, but recently, the van swerves when cruising above 50 mph and you take your foot off of the accelerator pedal.
Is it related to my track rod issues?

If you cant see any thing obvious i would agree with what 'Wheeler' says and check the top mountings, they can be a bit of a faff to get to as i recall as the mountings are within the footwell(s) but i've replaced a few of these in the past and found the alloy housing for the bearing broken up when it's been removed from the vehicle.

the DPF runs on my van very regularly, too much i think, some times it will happen 3 or 4 times a day for 6/7 mins at a time. i believe this is running my battery down especially as winter is coming and failed to start this morning, 40 mins on charger and no problem starting, checked the alternator and get a steady 14.2v at the battery, been...

Ii think I have a tiny diesel leak coming form the nut for the high pressure fuel line where it enters the injector.

Does anybody know if there is a seal or 'olive' inside the nut, or is it possible to 'nip' it up a little.
Im certain that the in injector seal itself is not leaking.

If it is slack then nipping it up may sort it. If it isn't then it is not cheap to replace them. I have had mine removed a few times and managed to get it sealed by changing the angle slightly before tightening it. Flippin' ridiculous that it is an item that cannot be taken on and off without leakage.

Evening everyone,

My '59 C4 GP 1.6 VTR+ is sort of 'skipping' when cornering - particularly if the surface is rough. It also does similar across manhole covers etc,
anyone any idea what's going on?

You might find the suspension air bags are leaking..... It's a problem with these things over time and can lead to them failing on one of the rear corners. Is the car rising to the correct height at the rear and maintaining it? Does the manual raising and lowering of the suspension using the switch at the rear work properly?

Related, is it true that if someone is going to electric weld car body part then it's essential that:
1. Disconnect the battery and then
2. Put a 'shunt' (I think it's called - surge / spike protector) from positive to to earth (negative) to protect the ECU from being fried by shocks.

Hi There

We have a xsara picasso 2003 model and the fan at front of car has stopped working, we have checked all fuses and they are all ok and someone mentioned it could be a sensor that had gone down on water pipe telling the fan when to operate.

can anyone advise or help in the matter as car is over heated quite quickly

Hi, Just adding some more info for the records.

There is a relay for the cooling fan in a cylindrical recess that is part of the top nearside part of the plastic radiator housing.
It's well hidden away (need to release the radiator or remove the front bumber assembly to get at it).

So I'm fixing a punctured rear hydraulics return line (already got some compression fittings for the PE-line) when I have a closer look and see some corrosion on the rear hydraulics supply line ...

After a short drive, all my brake discs are very hot. Brake pads in the front was replaced 4 months ago, and the rear 14 months ago.

The heat is uniform, altho there is slightly more heat on the rear left disc. The discs now have 2-3 groves in them.

Could this be the master cylinder?

Car coast fine in N, so no excessive braking is felt while...

You may be using the brakes too much. The wheels can be slightly heated so that the hand can be held, hotter than that is not good. All 4 wheels should be removed and the condition of the main pistons and guide pistons should be inspected - this was to be done by a mechanic when he was working.

Hello,

When I start my car with the engine cold, a white smoke is seen around the engine, for about 2-5 seconds, then it dissappears. It can be seen only when the engine is cold and it has a strange smell.

What can it be?

Over-filling the coolant (presumably at the expansion tank) will lead to coolant being expelled every time the engine gets up to working temperature. There should be an air gap above the coolant there, to allow for expansion. Check out the level.

Some pumps keep blowing the fuse because there is a rather nasty mixture of lds and the dust of the motor brushes building up a conductive goop that keeps shorting the pump. After a good cleaning the chances are your pumps works fine again (without spending 1000s)

Just a follow up.
Car required a reset as the new TB was struggling to idle (symptoms like an air leak in the inlet side)
As I was doing the battery it was no drama. Working fine now.

I was concerned my new battery (correct for the car) was a smaller unit than the unit I was removing.
However since fitting I havent seen economy mode on the car...

Hello all,

ive got an issue with my citroen c8 2.0 16v petrol 2005.
Ive changed the complete timing belt kit with water pump. And the car has developed these issues:

- noisy whining sound
- car doesnt respond to the accelerator as it used to be , basically it has lost the power, i can feel the difference also when stopping, engine is misifirng?...

If the timing was incorrectly set up there may be slight valve damage. Seeing as there was no problem before the timing belt change I would do a compression test just to rule it out.

I presume you that if you took it for diagnostics, it was running and warm and thus also turning over well , needs to be diagnosed on a cold morning and when not been started, thats when you have the problem and live data would be more usefull,, if you paid for diagnostics you may have been better off paying for leak off test, even when failing...

I live in a hilly area and, in particular, I frequently climb a straight a quarter mile uphill slog which used to annihilate my fuel consumption- 9.4 mpg on instant trip all the way up the hill. So I took my Citroen C5 to a garage to have it's steering wheel alignment done and the guy couldn't do it.

Since then I have had the wheels aligned properly as they were so far out the steering wheel was nearly a quarter of a turn out. I'm thinking this might have been why it wouldn't do it. That or the fact that maybe he didn't do it properly....
