C5X infotainment display dark mode during the day

When driving down a road during the day, the headlights go on and off when going under bridges, next to high buildings or trees or any shady area. I don't care about that too much but what bothers me is that the infotainment display flips into dark mode too. Not only is it distracting, it makes it harder to navigate. I can't find a setting to stop the display doing that: I am happy for the display to be dark when driving at night but not during the day.
How do I stop the infotainment display going into dark mode during the day whilst keeping dark mode during the night?

Have you got your lights set to auto? It'll be normal when the lights come on for the dash to dim...

I found this to be annoying in my C3 Picasso.

Switch off the auto lights and all should be good...

You need to go into the navigation / map settings and turn off the AUTO / Day / Night option. But remember at night, you will have to either put it back to auto or set it to night otherwise it will be equally distracting having the full lit display at night.

I've never know this to be an issue before, the settings work perfectly for me. Don't forget to spend some time setting the ambient lighting or instrument display lighting up as you need it.
