The EAT8 automatic transmission is new to me. Is it normal for the rpm to rise to around 2700 when the transmission changes from gear 1 to gear 2? In the previous 6-speed C5 model, the rpm rarely rose above 2000.

Depends on the driving mode you have set the gearbox to if you have a Hybrid (PHEV). It should have 3 drive modes, ECO, normal and Sport. If on Sport then it will wait longer before changing gear. So you need to make sure it is in normal mode. Even the non-PHEV should have a Sport Mode - so make sure this is not activated.

The driving mode is set to Normal. The engine is 2.0 BlueHDi.

Well it should take into account the road and driving conditions as part of the gear change (inclines etc.) I couldn't really hear mine in a loan C4X the other week, but did eat petrol!
