Hi all, my 2011 C3 picasso has an ABS sensor light on the dashboard after driving through a large puddle during the recent rains. Pretty sure it's the n/s front sensor I need to replace.
Is it a straightforward job to swap it out? Any pitfalls I should avoid? And will I need to get the diagnostics reset, or will it clear down once the new one is in?
Any help would be gratefully received
Cheers
Dunk

Re: C3 Picasso ABS sensor replacement
I cannot tell you how to replace the sensor, but once you have you will need to take the car for a drive. When certain sensors fail the car has to 'see' they are working before it will 'believe' it has been replaced. When I had an ABS sensor fail on a Xantia I swapped it out, started the car up, only to see the ABS error light was still lit. I spent ages trying to find what I had done wrong, before giving up and having to drive the car. As soon as she went over 6MPH (which is 10KMH, so metric French) the light went out, and the ABS came back online.

Thanks @Hell Razor5543 I've replaced the sensor this afternoon, but haven't driven the car yet. I'll give a spin and see what happens.

There's no special procedure required - hopefully you will have resolved it assuming you replaced the right one - a diagnostic should of been able to tell you which one it was.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Re: C3 Picasso ABS sensor replacement
Haha, it would seem like I've either replaced the wrong one (surprisingly, bearing in mind when it failed), or there's some other fault. I've put a multimeter across the terminals of the one I removed and it's showing around 900 ohms resistance, so that looks OK.
When I've the time and it's not raining, then I'll do a bit more investigating.
Do you perhaps know if the rear sensors are interchangeable with the front sensors?
Many thanks

You need to get it on a diag computer, otherwise you are just guessing. Wrongly, so far,,,,

Yes, it's actually showing open circuit on the n/s front. So I got the right sensor, but not found the fault.RichardW wrote: 03 Nov 2023, 08:17 You need to get it on a diag computer, otherwise you are just guessing. Wrongly, so far,,,,![]()
There is a wiring loom plug and socket just in front of the wheel arch liner, I'll have to have a look and see if I can trace back the wiring to see if I can spot the fault.
