I'm trying to wire up an amp in my ZX, everything's fine except I can't see a way to get the power cable to the battery (without going out of the window and in the bonnet ;o) Looking at the main wiring it seems from the battery to go through the wing along the top and through the bulkhead behind the windscreen wiper.
Simply is there an easier way...

I'm currently happy with a 1.9 TGD but I have seen references to a 1.9 turbodiesel BX hybrid. Insurance hassles notwithstanding, is this on? If it is, how many horses? Do you start from a 1900 diesel or a 1700 turbodiesel base car. A 1900 turbodiesel estate sounds like a worthwhile escapade. Is it an easy swap and what is the economy like....

To remind; BX 17 DTR
Sorry to start a new string but I am going mental with this car.
last post under old string from Jeremy was useful; the pdf document was good general theory but has not helped wtih my present problem.
To recap; my garage has had the original lucas pump rebuilt by Lucas. They have now installed it, but although slow running is...

Do HDI engines get turbo lag?
Dads dealer says they don't, but I guess he really means that they don't get as much compared with XUD's.

Ive cured the air bubbles and re-checked the timing and it is still running rough even when warmed up UKMOBILEMAN you said a head gasket problem can you elaborate as the head has been skimmed (20 thou off, a lot I know)and 2 x 2 notch gaskets fitted! before that a 5 notch had been fitted after the skim and the pistons were hitting the exhaust...

Help something is wrong weith my brakes, I just had front pads fitted and since then there seems to be a delay in operating the pedal and the brakes working'
When I brake car does slow but then brakes seem to suddenly grab, Is it the pads or just a coincidence, pedal feels ok.
Tony

You may have read my previous posts about having a spot of trouble with the brakes on my Citroen ZX 1.9td Aura. The problem was a bad vibration through the pedal and poor stopping power. I have since replaced both front pads and discs with Brembo discs and Halfords pads, had the rear wheel cylinders and shoes replaced at Mr Clutch and I fitted two...

I have a BX TZD with abs. The ABS is functioning correctly, all sensors are OK, the relay is OK, the ECU is OK (I have 2 and changed them). My problem is that the dash light does not come on when the ignition is switched on (it should then go off after checking). In addition I can't make it come on by disconnecting a sensor. Yes I have checked the...

Seeing a member's problem of a ZX heater matrix leak and where the whole dash and steering wheel, etc. has to be removed.
I sometime ago tried to remove my steering wheel for something which I can't remember and I failed in doing so. My ZX has a air bag system in the wheel centre and removed this OK and also the nut. I made a make-shift puller...

when (eventuatly)the engine fires up and run very rough (sounds like a petrol engine with a misfire or with the choke out when hot}runs quite smoothly when revs increase but is accompanied by clouds (makes the bush fires in australia look like a bar-b-q) of white smoke, the clear pipe from filter to pump indicates very small air bubbles being...

HELP!!!
It appears i have a water leak somewhere in the car but cannot see as yet any visible evidence, the glass on the inside steams up to such an extent that it is impossible to drive and there is a strong smell of anti-freeze in the car.
If it's the matrix, how easy is it to remove? the Haynes manual states that the ENTIRE dash is to be...

Hi,I've got a 1993 1.9i volcane 8 valve petrol, can anybody tell me where the idle stepper motor is to be found--many thanks

Ive just bought a 1993 Xantia 19td.When driving I get a whining noise. Its there in all gears and is there whether under power or coasting.Today Ijacked up the front and spun the o/s wheel and there was no noise, when I spun the n/s wheel there was a droning noise but it was difficult to tell if it was coming from the wheel or the gearbox.There...

I have bought 2 spheres from andyspares & they came with 2 large 'O' rings in a bag. The sphere I have just taken off had NO 'O' ring on it
When I attempted to fit the 'O' ring to the new sphere it was very loose & so it just bunched up when tightened between the two faces.
So am I correct to assume that not ALL Xantias rely on 'O'rings as mine...

Chaps,
can anyone tell me what the wheel offsets and PCD is for the Saxo?
There's some alloys for sale, which were fitted on a Saxo, and I want to know if they will fit on mine.

My brute has not yet rotted out the door pillar but the Driver's door has dropped. How do I pull the pin out. I am advised that this is a 2 part pin and that the inner bit comes out first. D'ya whack it, push it, pull it, unscrew it, bake it, break it or drift it? from above or below? I am also told that the brake caliper roll pin of a Vauxhall...

I am experiencing some rather random readings from the fuel gauge on a BX19 TGD. I have noticed that the instrument lights dim when the brake lights go on. Have I one of the renowned BX unearthlinesses or do they all behave like this?

Does anyone know if the 2.1 turbo diesel has a blanking plug fitted at the end of the injector leak off pipes? (Flywheel end). I have read previous topics which says that a faulty blanking plug and leakoff pipes allow air in.
XM is going to a diesel specialist on Tuesday as I am p*!ssed of with looking for leaks. Anyone know if an auto bleed valve...

May have seen earlier topics having problems with brake vibration. Replaced front discs and pads with some brembo stuff from Andyspares, don't think front is problem anymore. Testing rears with the handbrake became apparent that the rear brakes when applied causing some very bad vibrations (like, whoaa man, this is some trippy s**t, bad...

I have found something else to worry about on my car, at last! I went about two days without worrying about anything so I was starting to enjoy it too much so I had to find something.
I want some advice on my rear beam (1.9td zx aura 93k). I have noticed that the offside rear is lower than the nearside by my estimation by appx 5-10mm. It is pretty...

Have an N reg AX Elation 1.5 NA Diesel.
Went for a compression test (based on BAD starting and every other option being doing), came out at 320,320,320,300 shout be around 420.
Assuming that it needs new rings and gasket, how impossible is it to do? What things need to be done? Anyone point me in the direction of a step by step? Bear in mind that...

The rear suspension on my Xantia has, of late, got very creaky, especially noticeable when just getting out of the car as it makes a creaky noise.
What is wrong with it? How much would it cost to fix and are there any temorary remedies that I can employ to keep it quiet for the time being.

I have a xantia vsx auto with a couple of problems, I am hoping that somebody out there might be able to help me.
Firstly, the front suspension is very hard. I have replaced the spheres, and have checked that they are the correct ones. The suspension is still the same. I do not know where to go next. The local main dealer wants £58 + vat just to...

Hi Folks, any electrical experts around I would appreciate some help:
Heater on 93 1.9 TD ZX failed instantly, switch and motor checked, seem ok. Resistor checked and with multimeter and there seems to be no resistance at all between 'output' connector and 4-speed 'input' connectors so a new one fronm Andyspares reveals logical increase in...

I've got oil seeping out from the rocker cover - I only noticed it yesterday afternoon after a trip so the engine was a bit hot and I couldn't poke around too much.
I'm pretty sure it was down to a blocked breather hose and/or not putting the dipstick back properly.
I'm going to replace the rocker cover gasket as well, just in case. Is it...

Has anybody got any experiences of Biodiesel usage in HDI engines?
Ben

I'm presently trying to find out info on how to fit the gaitors (boots) on to the steering rack.
I've already fitted one to the drivers side without any drama but to fit it to the passengers side seems an almost impossible task. It appears that the housing that the ram attaches to which has a lug poking out off the side is too large, when the...

Quick question, maybe a touch obvious.... When you do a coolant change do you refil with ordinary tap water (plus some antigel/antifreeze of course!) or do you use purified water? Does it matter to you how hard the water in your area is? I am changing coolant tomorrow. Can't flush unfortunately as I have no hose pipe access (kind of reassuring...

The multiway connectors in the passenger footwell do not work well underwater . Now their performance at low tide has been compromised by the build up of corrosion and electrolysis that has occurred as a result of the regular flooding under the drenched carpet.
When do you need to be able to disconnect these connectors? Is there any reason to keep...

There is water seeping right under the Thermo housing, is there are gasket or can I use a liquid gasket maker to solve that problem. The thermo it self has been changed but I still have a small water leak.
Thanks for any help.

I am at the end of my tether. The 1992 XM 2.1 SED with FSH and 91,000miles has now been on my drive for a week. The problems started as a reluctance to rev over 3000 rpm under load i.e overtaking. It refuses to idle when hot or cold or if it does chug to life then it idles at 700 rpm approx before surging between 700 and 1000 rpm. I have checked...

Help!!! My Heated screen just packed up, I checked fuses and all are good, switch seems to click but not light up, I took plastic covers off tailgate and no power seems to be getting to it. I noticed that it ios a thick blue wire I have tried to trace it but can not find it, does it go through the roof lining, any ideas where I can locate it at...

My ABS light on the dashboard comes on once a while recently. What does this mean??

My tachometer has gone crazy. When I start the car, it works fine. But after about 5 minutes, it's needle drop to zero and does not want to move. If I stop the engine, and let it cool down. Then it works again... and again it works for a short while only.
What could be the possible cause of this?

During the recent frosty spell here in Ireland i experienced stifness in my steering for a few minutes after starting in the mornings.I have now discarded my LHM oil,and filled up with Hydroflush.Haynes recommend that this be emptied after 600Mls.Can anybody advise if any benefit is to be had by leaving the Hydroflush in the tank longer?

Since a few days my left mirror heater is not working and thats pretty ackward in this UK weather I looked at the fuses but there is no point as the right mirror heater and back screen heater are working. I got the mirror out and checked the wires ... they are ok and nothing seems to be wrong there. Could it be the actual heater wire? ... I...

Apparently I need a new timing belt tensioner. Now I don't know which one I need, though I suspect it is the one with springs as that one seems likely to be the one to stop tensioning.
Where (besides the useless Citroen garages) could I get these from. The engine is the 2.0 16v 150 hp version. Is the timing belt and assembly the same as that of...

How do I fix the speedometer on my Xantia VSX 16v (150hp)? Sometimes it works ok then sometimes it sticks and doesnt change readings even though the speed is obviously very different.
Also from a previous post, are the 1.9TD gearboxes of the same type as mine? If not are the gearboxes of the 8 valve 2.0 litre compatible??

On the UK's broken roads, (very rough around Leeds and Bradford) does Hydropneumatic suspension (i.e. C5 not H3+, but the normal one without sport mode) offer a more reliable ride.
What is there to wear out with constant hammering on roughish roads. How does this compare with, say Xsara suspension?
I haven't had to replace any suspension...

That seems absurdly small for a car with 150BHP.
Does anyone know what the width of the wheel is, and whether you can fit a 195 or a 205 to the wheel?
Any replies greatly recieved.

Hi people,
I have a silly little question. I've had Bxs for about 2,5 years, and I've never had to bleed the front brakes. The other day I felt I was having some problems with the brakes and wanted to bleed the whole system. The rear brakes no problem, no really, not even the nipples . There was some air in the pipes, but then again I had, not...
