Left mirror heater not working .... WHY?

Post by debutant »

Since a few days my left mirror heater is not working and thats pretty ackward in this UK weather <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>I looked at the fuses but there is no point as the right mirror heater and back screen heater are working. I got the mirror out and checked the wires ... they are ok and nothing seems to be wrong there. Could it be the actual heater wire? ... I followed the wires and they seem to be connected.
Maybe the other day when some idiot (those ones that have no clue how big/small cars are) hit my mirror and I had to push in back into position caused some kind of damage ....
ANY ideas on this one?
Cheers,
John

Use a meter or test lamp to see if the heater has gone open circuit, if its ok, switch the heated mirror on and test for current and earth at the wiring terminal, if nothing there you will have to follow the wiring back untill you find the fault.

Both my Berlingo's have had the L/H mirrors replaced. The heat element behind the glass packed up on both. I checked them both at the loom joint in the door shut and got a feed to assumed it was the mirror. Both were replaced under warranty, a common fault I believe.

you could try plugging the mirror off the right hand side on to the left hand side and see if it heats up,at least you'll know if the glass is at fault.if it is'nt then its a wiring like Dave Burns said
