Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hello all, I have recently bought a P reg Xantia 1.9td and have found it generally to be a great car. The only annoying problem I have with it is that the suspension is too bouncy, when I go over speed bumps the car gives more one bounce than it should and when driving at speed the bounce can be quite alarming, it's like driving a boat.

The C5 seat bely light keeps flashin on and off. It's as irritating as hell. I assume it's a lose connection which is at the belt engagement end. HOw can a layman remedy this? Thought about cutting wire.

Hi.
I have questions to Berlingo owners.
That's my first PSA car. Car was bought in July,2008.
As I understood my dealer, the difficulties during a turning on the gears It's a feature of MA5 gearbox. Does somebody have the similar problems?

Well yesterday was cambelt day at 98950 miles decided that it really had to be done, besides the auxillary belt looked like it was ready to fall apart at any moment. What with the weather and host of other things decided I couldn't be arsed and handed it over to a local independant.

Well been driving around for a couple of weeks now with a drip catcher under the pump which always seems to be dry. Did an after start up check on two successive mornings no drips after start up at idle.

Hopefully not as the relay is an itegral part of the (expensive) under bonnet fuse box.

Did you remove the steering wheel or just tighten the nut ?

Would anyone recomend somewhere to get new rings, big and main bearing shells from for my TCT Engine, i may get it rebored too so does anyone know if oversize pistons were available for this engine, the bol says it is unclear if oversize pistons will be available which i find hard to believe, but then we dont call it the bol for nothing...

If you run LPG you are legally allowed to run without a CAT :-)

The other option is if it pass's without it to just knock the itnernals out of it :)

Hi all,
Bit of a problem with the oil in my 1995 zx 1.4 8v. Recently, whilst going round corners my oil light was coming on. After a quick check under the filler cap, i started to wonder if the poor car had ever had an oil change, the oil was generally quite dirty and lumpy.

Went and bought some oil and a new filter, but i dont have a big enough...

If you measure across from one flat of the sump plug to the opposite flat, using a metric ruler/tape measure, you should get very good idea of what size you need. With luck you'll be spot on :)

my friend owns a 2003 citroen xsara and when he starts his car the boot automaticaly opens, its not the fob coz he has used the dummy key and it still does it. doea anyonr have any ideas what it could be

A basic process of elimination -
Xsara's tend to suffer from broken wiring in the door harness's, this can lead to dodgy operation of the interior light, windows, locks & speakers. I don't recall the year the BSI was fully introduced to the Xsara range but maybe when the drivers door is opened it's not receiving the signal from the lock to tell it...

Hi, I have a problem with the keys on this car, they are HUGE! Not a problem for 99.9% of people i'm sure, but as i keep my key in my shoe as i'm disabled it's driving me mad!

I don't want the button bits i just want a key i can use in the doors and ign that will work, if i get a normal key cut will it work or are the god darn things chipped??...

They're actually motors Ritchie. They have a rack and clutch inside them and it's the clutch that wears.

Recently I send my car to clean LHM fluid container and change rubber over ring. A week after I have changed, some how rather all the LHM fluid leaked from rubber tube near front middle sphere, Foreman claims that the rubber tube need to be changed and I changed and top up the fluid again....

I have a leak on this strut. Is it likely to be something as simple as a washer/seal or will I need a new strut. What are the common failure points and finally is this the correct part number from GSF for the strut, (455pc0650).
I'm not doing the repair myself just supplying the part/doing my homework before the garage quotes me.

If your mechanic has replaced the anitsink valve, a strut is the last thing it can be.

Normally, they are very reliable so it's a safe bet to get one from a scrapper. There are only three basic types, non-hydractive, hydractive and V6.

......Flushed with the success of the radiator change I thought the V6 was in tip top condition for my hols in France next week.

Note the holes are elongated. When fitting the belt the two sprockets should be turned fully clockwise to the end of the holes. Start fitting from the crankshaft and turn the injection pump anti-clockwise by only one tooth to enable the belt to seat properly.

At W plate, its (probably) not multiplexed (I am not 100% sure though) as you are near the changeover year.

If you are sure its not a fuse its best to double check them, occasionally one can appear OK, best to take one out and check it and then put it back (one at a time) its still worth checking the engine compartments ones too, this vehicle may...

Hi all, I've just replaced the head gasket on my wife's pug 307 1.6 petrol. While doing this I also cleaned up the inside of the throttle housing using brake cleaner (bad move ?) problem is that after reassembly the car now runs like a pig with the car saying that there is an anti-pollution problem. Hi all,
I have searched this fault and found topics, but not managed to find a cause or remedy.

My O/S indicators stay on occasionally, not flashing just on constantly. I have read that it maybe the alarm ECU or the hazard switch that might be the culprit.

I take the bulbs out so as not to drain the battery (apart from the dash bulb. LOL.) and...

My girlfriends C3's reverse lights packed up this weekend and I have taken both light units to pieces, checked the fuse under the bonnet and tried swapping bulbs and still no joy?! The only fault I can find is the drivers side wiring seems to not be working as both bulbs work on the passenger side?!

Has anyone any ideas as to how this can be...

Probably more likely to be a faulty switch on the gearbox, unplug it & bridge out the 2 pins with the ignition to confirm it, if the lights come on its a faulty switch.

The 90bhp bosch systems have an electric pump in the tank but the 90bhp siemens system doesent have an electric pump in the tank so it does have a hand primer.

Can Pug part numbers be translated into Citroen ones at all?

I may have found a good driveshaft thats been recon'd but its a pug part number and doesn't list the 2.0CT as a possible fitment :(

is it the same shaft used on all Xantias and 406's?

A while ago I thought I needed a Xantia V6 driveshaft, and came to the conclusion that 406 driveshafts are somehow different (different track maybe?).

a really quite useful website that gives dimensions and interchange data for driveshafts (go to the applied tab for the cross reference).
They also list Peugeot, so do some digging!

I recently changed the fuel tank on my 2002 Relay 2.2HDi and now she will start but only run for a few seconds and then stops, I have had a diagnostic test carried out and the following codes came up PO148 - Fuel delivery error / 3rd piston deactivation and PO191 - Fuel rail...

Thanks for all the replies guys, She lives!!! but still not trouble free, On Thursday last week I had a pressure test carried out on the low pressure pump which was fine, the same again on the high pressure pump again fine and then a leak off test carried out on the injectors revealed one of the injectors leaking off badly and another was leaking...

Just noticed a fluid leak which is coming from the large nut and pipework on top of what I think is the fluid pump driven off the engine belt - is it safe to simply tighten the nuts up or is it best to take the thing apart - is there a copper washer or similar that is likely to require replacement - been here before - seems simple but then gets...

Hi

I've been trying to help my brother with his 94 1.9D xantia - he has just replaced the hydraulic pipe feeding the front offside suspension sphere but is now unable to start the engine. It some times runs briefly but then dies, theres no sign of unburnt fuel out of the exhaust, the priming bulb happily pumps fuel through to the diesel pump and...

Hi, the gearbox on 1997 xantia 2.0 petrol has given up the ghost. So i am looking for info on what other auto boxes would fit as i have been offered a box from 1994 XM Turbo. Would this be compatable or is there any from the peugeot/renault range that would fit?

It is the early type gearbox, and although repairable it would probably be more expensive than the car is worth. The problem i have describing the fault/gearbox part is because it is my father-in-law's car, and he is only going off what the RAC man told him.

My belated tuppence-worth on removing stubborn crankshaft pulley bolts (XUD engine). When I did the timing belt almost immediately after buying our Xantia (11 years and 67,000 miles on the original belt) :shock: the bolt wouldn't shift it:

Hi,
Until recently I had problem where every now and then when I flicked the wash/wipe the front AND rear wipers would start but no action from the wash pump. Unfortunately this has just become permanent.
Anyone have any idea where would be the first place to look for a cause?

Thanks for the reply, but I think the key is that the REAR wiper goes on as well when it's not working, which isn't meant to happen. My presumption is that some connection is shorting somewhere or something.

It came good again this weekend, but this was by far the longest stretch it has malfunctioned. I also have a similar issue with the A/C not...

With myself recently purchasing a 2000 w reg Xantia hdi forte to find that the air con doesn't work.I have read through the manual with the car and found that the possible causes are that it needs re-gassing or that i have a leak somewhere or failing that i need a new drier bottle are there any more causes for it not to work any help would be...

Other then the Seals in the areas I said above, (All systems follow a similar layout, even V6 models, just the dryer moved.

My Guess would be then a hole in the Condenser infront of the Radiator..

If you really want to find the leak, I made an Adapter from an M8 bolt, that screwed into the Recharge port, and then connected to a compressor end...

Just wondering if the parcel shelf with integral sunblind was a standard fitment or an option, cos mine has a shelf without.

I have a ticking / tapping noise from the engine when idling, it seems to go

Hi All

Each morning for past week on switching ignition on the

STOP comes on, Temp gauge goes up to red, and console binnacle reads Engine Coolant Temperature Too High and beeps 3 times

all before firing ignition up.

All clears on start up but beeps three times and then temp gauge drops down into the blue.

Anyone know if the C5's all had the connection for a CDchanger under the seat????? I have 2 spare plugs under there, one is blue and one is orange but neither fit the CD changer I have bought. Or do I have to get an adaptor lead for it as the wire seems too short to reach it anyway.
