Hi
I have just bought a 2004 berlingo 1.9 diesel which has done 100k. The clutch pedal seems very heavy, especially the lower half of the movement. However, the clutch doesn't slip, the biting point is around the middle if the travel, there aren't any noises and all gears engage without issue. Could it be a worn cable and how do find out if it's the cable or the clutch ?

It's a good chance that it's the cable, the innards collapses and makes it drag, only way to find out is to try a new one.

Think you will find its the clutch, they usually get heavy on these vehicles when they approach the end of their life.

Every one I've had to deal with has been the cable so best check that before expending loads of dosh on a new clutch.Lighty wrote:Think you will find its the clutch, they usually get heavy on these vehicles when they approach the end of their life.

Hi
I think I will try the cable first (although the later cable isn't much cheaper than a clutch kit !)
Are they fairly straight forward to fit and which end do I disconnect/reconnect first?
Many thanks
