Xantia Tanker!!!

Post by Stepto1 »

Ok, here's a good one. I braked a bit hard tonight and guess what I heard from the old warhorse? Nope, I heard a load of water swishing around from what sounds like the sill!!!

I can hear it when I pull away and when I break hard. How's it got in there and how do I get it out? What damage has it done or is doing? Is there any wiring in the sill?

This is a new one on me. Any ideas?

I think it more likely that water is trapped in the bottom of the door.

more likely the drain holes in the bottom lip/edge of the sill/s are blocked,
the drain holes in the bottom of the doors are a lot bigger and dont usualy get blocked,

Are the drain holes easy to spot and how's the water got in there?

if you look along the seam at the bottom edge of the sill tyhe drains are the short raised sections,

i think sometimes the plastic caps are missing or not sealing at ech end of the sill in the wheel arch,

Well it was water in the sill. Getting in through a hole about the size of a 50p peice in the rear wheelarch. The hole has been cut into the soft rubber lining, god knows why. Can't find the drain holes but found two rubber bungs with when removed let out loads of water!!!
