Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

As you'll see from the Intro section, about a month ago I bought a 51 reg 2.2HDi Exclusive. The previous owner, Phil1969, had experienced some problems ( see onclick= window.open(this.href);return false;) which was traced to a punctured swirl valve diaphragm. This was replaced by Phil1969 who reported back on the forum that the car was now OK....

Aah, with the 1.9 diesel lump you'd almost certainly know if you had some valve clash. Timing belt failed on my 1.9TD (belt totally snapped) piston met valve and smashed the camshaft into three pieces, I've heard this is quite common. But since yours still runs I'd say it's probably fine.
Fit a new cam belt or reuse the old one if it hasn't been...

can anyone tell me how to reset my service interval as i have just serviced it last week and i know the light will come on in 100 miles i have herd there is some dashboard buttons to press that will take the spanner of and reset it all please help i would rather do it myself than give it to rip of citroen :saber:

Hi,
Can anybody help, my dad said his brakes were binding on his belingo , I checked all the wheels which were running free, his brake pedal goes hard and if you pump the pedal hard a couple of times it's ok. I checked the brake vacuum pump and was not sucking air so I replaced it. Problem stopped for a week, now com back again it does not do it...

I have a old coded immboilers in my xantia. There doesnt seem to be any pattern. For when i need to put the code in againe. For example went in a petrol station. For a couple of mins in and out. Needed to re code it. Then went in to a shop evern longer. And i didnt have to recode it. Its wierd.

Not sure about you lot, but I find the keypad immobilisers an annoyance. No one is going to nick an S1 Xantia these days anyway. I'm so glad the one on RUNN has been disabled! Now I just want a coin tray then I can dispose of the thing altogether and actually use the space it takes up..

i would not even start the engine untill you have checked inside the cam belt covers for any strands of aux drive belt waiting/lurking to cause mischief with the cam belt,

As the title says, whats the PCD and wheel offset for an MY02 2.2HDi C5? I'm looking at aftermarket wheels cos i really dislike the ones Citroen fitted as standard.

They are 4 stud, i have a 5 stud pattern. (have since found out its a 5 x 108 PCD with offset of 35-50)

No you wont, it will certainly be 4 stud on a C5I or C5II. C5IIIs are 5 stud.

Sticking with manufacturer wheels, wheels from 406s and 307s will fit fine. Though the offset on 307 wheels sees a bit different, having seen a C5 with them....

Hi, On the inside rear wheel arch ( nearside) of my 1997 Xantia there is a very small acess point ( why!!!) it should I guess, heve a plastic cover or gromet. anybody know what it is or indeed what its called ? Having just fixed the blower module the airbag warning light for the front air bags has come on flashing.

I had the steering wheel off a little while back and I wonder if I have eventually knacked the rotator switch for the airbag in the steering wheel. I had a similar problem with the previous xantia.

Halfords guy told me to get Mobil as it is good (and cheaper) but as they no longer stock the one i needed he suggested i look locally. Thing is there is nowt locally. I would get total 9000(or is it 7000) in leclerc for 26 euros soon but like engine oil changed prior to trip.

Only have halfords here. I have used their own fully synthetic before...

Makro are poor for that. You only need a 10w 40 semi synth for that engine.

GSF sell Fuchs for about 14quid all up (5ltre). Partco do similar. Fully synth is ott in that engine. Miller oil tech told me so theirselves and my oil was analysed regular by them.

For me? Arnold Clark trade were doing 10w40 semi synth.........30 quid for 25 litres....

I'm contemplating the purchase of a C4 HDi with the 1.6 engine, whats the verdict on this ? Would go for the 110 or 138 BHP version.

Hy sister has run an 06 C4 HDi 1.6 16v 110hp SX hatch since it was 6 months old with 3k miles
on the clock after buying it from a Cit Dealer in Colchester - she had to be taken all that way there
from Swansea as IT JUST HAD to be a black one!!

She totally loves it
(although it's not my cup of tea, I always feel green around the gills...

Front windows in my MK2 Xantia Estate have just started an intermittent fault. I have had an intermittent up action on the drivers side for a while but now both passenger and drivers side don't work at all. Leave if for a while and then they work again!

Any ideas what might be the reason and does anyone have a cure?

Ok - I bit the bullet and managed to reveal wires including a broken - green sleeved, quite thick one. Other smaller wires (pinkish colour sleeves) show early signs of wear - I will carefully tape these another day.

So - I manged to find the other half of the green wire and used a connector to re-connect. Not easy as there is not much slack and...

Hi all,

On the return trip from the garage after the MOT, the blower suddenly went onto full only :lol: I forgot about this until today when I went to drive the old girl

Fortunately, this happened to me on the other xantia so I have all the bits required in the garage Just need the son-in-laws multimeter.

Will C5 HA3+ front corner spheres fit a HA2 Xantia? the nominal pressure is a little higher, but it seems to me to be a reasonable idea.

Is it correct (for a C5) that fat pipes going to the strut tops indicate a HA3+ car? (I saw one in a breakers today).

I believe so. The very last Xantias had some C5 mushrooms fitted and Rattiva still had one as a rear centre hydractive when I acquired her. I'm sure it had been there since new as it was reluctant to come off and when tested was...

Hi guys. I've been having some odd issues and would appreciate some feedback before using the toolkit. It mostly concerns the auto wipe function (which, frankly, I've never liked anyway) and the aircon.

The auto wipe seems to be stuck on single-speed intermittment and will operate even when the screen is dry. Is the controller within the mirror...

Citroen C5 2007 2.0 HDI With a dropped valve. The car was taken by AA to garage for assesment, they have part stripped the car to find the problem.
I now need to move the car but it has sunk to low position.
The car does not respond when the doors are openeed like normal when it would usually put itself back into normal position.

That knocking sound you heard is indeed normal. Instructions on the can say to stop spraying if knocking occurs, it takes a couple of seconds to calm down back to normal. I sprayed a can of Wynns EGR3 into the inlet manifold and pipe going to the EGR valve this weekend. I'm astonished by the difference its made. Fuel economy has gone up 3mpg...

chaps.. car has been off the road since sunday due to lost LHM.. :evil:

just managed to get underneath and one of the pinion valve pipes was green.. I dried it and started the car.. sure enough there was a drip-drip from the pipe's entry into pinion valve..
I get back out and applied light pressure to steering, and could see LHM dripping out...

Hi, just changed the stop solenoid in my ZX. Bought it from Ebay !! When I turn the engine off it takes a few seconds to stop . You can almost feel the engine starving itself of fuel ! I guess its the wrong one ? Will it matter if I keep it? thanks in advance Terry . :oops:

That's odd.

I'd say its either sucking air in (unlikely) does it run / idle nice and smooth ? (if so its not that in most cases)

Or the solenoid pin is not quite long enough, I'd say it may not be shutting it right down so there's constant but highly reduced flow so it takes a second to stop, I would suspect its actually being slowed down to the...

Thanks to everyone at FCF my Xantia is now back on the road again after clearing up the aftermath of a cambelt failure. It was remedied by taking the cylinder head off my spares xantia and putting it on the other one. Just one sentence-sounds like a piece cake! The reality was hours and hours of work, and one hurdle after another to...

Want to change the oil in the gearbox. My Haynes Manual does not cover the 2.2 HDI engine, are the gearboxes the same as other models?

Had a look earlier in the year and could not find the fill plug, any help would be great.

Hi Folks

I am wondering if my battery is getting tired as over the last few weeks my clock resets to 0.00 and date 1/1 when I start the engine on my TD. I notice that the central locking sometime locks and unlocks with a vigorous clunk then the next is more a sedate sound. Also at the same time as my Clock zero'd the GPs seemed down as it coughed...

Best suggestion on glowplugs I've read here is cutting a notch out of the ring end of the
electrical ribbon so that it can be fed onto the last inaccessible plug whilst the washer
and nut are already on the top of the fitted glowplug.

So, my 2010 C5 tourer 3.0 HDI is now closing in on 50k miles and has been running with the new remap for over 6 months.

300 bhp and 460 flbt,... :twisted:

Decided to try a few 0-60 dashes although unfortunately where I live, the decent straights are up hill which is annoying, however happy to post 0-60 of 6 secs over 3 runs with esp off with...

At the moment the Airbag light is still an advisory, it was meant to be a fail starting April, but the government have put that back. No idea when it will become a fail though.

Hi all,

Well I have passed the 48k mile mark in my 2010 C5 Tourer 3.0 HDI and thought I'd update you all on a few things, all good by the way :-D

Build quality is still top notch, no rattles or annoying noises, well pleased with this and betters anything I've had from VW Group, BMW, Volvo and Mercedes.

Reliability, still very good, 1 recall...

They're called Adriatic, but I thought they came in a metallic charcoal powdercoat with metal highlights. Biggest wheel in the current C5 factory range.

Yep, you're right, you can either get them with the grey inserts or the black like I've got now. Either way they look the nuts but are a bugger to clean :(

Just wondered if any one has ideas on a problem i have my car ticks over lumpy and just recently going up hill it splutters and takes a while to build up but doesnt cut out and after a short while its ok i been told there is no idle control valve and would have to change throttle body is this correct or could it be a fuel pump? Well Jim is a fantastic guy to deal with and even installed everything for me on line, I cannot recommend him enough.

1. i changed the rear trailing arm bearings .no problem
2.i noticed the rear was fluctuating before it settled,done all the usual.ie.jumping on towbar citrobotics ect.still a small problem.

As Subject really, ok I'll add some more info.

I have replaced my track rod inner and both track rod ends and also changed my anti-sink sphere. The job was made much easier thanks to the members of this forum and their experiences.
The jobs took about 2 hours in total, although I must add that I changed the wishbone bushes a few weeks back (again...

I found the pipe at the back of the left back wheel, it seems to have a special socket for poutting in the fluid is this so ?
Is the fluid put in onder pressure or can i just cut off this socket and just use funnell ?
I am just checking the level and topping up i just have the car one year. How do i know its f full??.

Hi all

Well i have just gone out to my car, a 52 plate C5 HDi Exclusive est, and the poor thing is resting right right down on the rear wheels. The rear screen is covered in an oily film and there is a slug trail on the road and in to my parking space. Hard question to answer without knowing exactly what the problem is.
If it is a burst pipe it shouldn't be terribly difficult nor expensive to fix.

Yes the outlet for the steering is regulated pressure by the pump itself, the other on the pump body is unregulated and will keep building pressure until something goes bang, this port goes directly to the pressure reguylator on the gearbox to absorb pulsing from the pump and regulate pressure at between 145-170bar.

Hi, just got two prices from G.S.F. For rear Brake Pads . I was told the better ones are £ 21.50 a pair or cheaper ones £ 14.25 a pair . My question is: What's the difference? is it worth buying the more exspensive ones ? Thanks in advance, Terry . :|

i do agree Paul but what i mean is IMO the fronts are more important to have good quality braking than the rear if you are on a tight budget,

all the rear wheels do is stop the back end dragging on the ground :shock: :twisted: :lol: :wink:
