Hey guys, ive been out Battlnig with the car for the past few hours trying to get the shaft out, i have undone the Painstakingly long fine threaded bolts on the 'balnancer, but the shaft wasnt going anywhere, tried all i could,
in the end i have removed the lower mount fromt he back of the block (reason for shaft removal to replace lower mount) but i just cant get the damn thing out!!
Should the Shaft Pull out through the lowermount / balancer section??
ta muchly in advance,
Timmo - Achng like mad, in pain but determined Not to loose to the Frenchie!

Re: Drivers side (Long) driveshaft removal??
I assume as you've just bought my XUD clutch, this is for the Xantia Yes, once you have the little hocky stick bolts rotated clear of the shaft, it should slide out of the lower mount casting. However they will often get properly stuck. Drift and a large lump hammer should move it, eventually.

Re: Drivers side (Long) driveshaft removal??
daft question i know but you have also split the hub from the lower arm, and removed the hub nut so the outer end of the shaft is free,
after the above and the hockey stick bolts released, i use a large old screw driver with no handle left on it, to drift the shaft free of the intermediate bearing housing,
plat the drift against the collar and give it a couple of hefty wholaps with a limp hammer

Re: Drivers side (Long) driveshaft removal??
Hubs have been off malcom, I had them off for ball joints, not that I managed them haha! Ended up my spanner mans snap on impact driver, one came out okay, one took Many hits from the big man with a big hammer and cold chisel!!
Have split the shafts in trying to release the mount bracket theres a bolt Right up under the top and with the full shaft was a real Pain!
I did also note that the box had dropped the lowermost bolt too at some point, Probably about the same time as it started making nasty noises! So have fashioned one up out of some threaded bar for now,

If you can't budge the shaft with everything free, tightly clamp a large mole wrench round the shaft and hammer it outwards.

Probably be OK but a lump hammer would be better.

Time you have been hammering it for 20 mins from underneath, it's a pretty limp hammer
