Xantia lhm leak

Post by ajw361 »

Hello everyone. I noticed over the last few weeks that our trusty xantia has developed an lhm leak. Mo have had the undertray off today to see where it is coming from. Can anybody advise from this picture what it is and what is involved with fixing it please? It sits at the back of the engine above the subframe.Image

I bet that it's the rubber pipe that is leaking. In time they get hard and brittle.

You can use a pipe of same inner diameter that is fuel resistant.

i second the rubber return perished/split,

if your luck you can just cut it back/shorten it, then just push it back were it terminates, on top of the height corrector by the looks of it

Yeah looking at it further this afternoon it is the rubber pipe but it's not long enough to splice and reattach. I will get some new pipe tomorrow and got it. Will the system just need a quick bleed carrying out some citrobotics after?

If it's the rubber pipe, then it's the return from the front height corrector valve. No need to bleed or do Citearobics (though the latter is always good to do).

While you're there, check the tightness of the gland nuts on the pipes going into the valve body - use a proper gland-nut spanner and be gentle; if any are slack tighten up (gently!). Last year the Green Lady (95/6 1.9sx estate) had a minor epidemic (ABS valve x 2, pinion valve, isolator valve) of slightly loose gland nuts - under around 1,000psi, LHM leaks as a fine mist!
