Rear suspension problem - thougts

Post by KennyW »

Good morning All,

New rear spheres arriving today and thought i would start to get prepared :)

Unfortunately the rear will not rise to the high setting :( to put car on ramps.

I am thinking about raising the car with my trolley jack and starting engine again hopefully this will help.
Otherwise it will have to be raised onto the ramps.

Any thoughts or suggestions

Kenny maybe the plastic link has fallen off..
you should be able to get on ramps without suspension in high? maybe some bits of board at base of ramps,..

Would agree with john. If you lift it up with a jack it will make matters worse, as if working the height sensor will be saying its to high and try to lower it. Can you not drive it up onto some boards or blocks.

Probably just the operating lever for the manual height override is a bit seized up. It's operated via a spring to the fore-aft lever, so it doesn't need much friction to stop it working. Just reach under (your arm only!!) from in front of the OS rear wheel and pull the lever forward, back should spring up. Once you get it on the ramps, set it back to normal height, then give the lever a good lubrication and work it back and forwards and it should work OK again. A job I need to do on mine as well..... Hope your rear sphere change goes better than mine did!!

Hi Guys,

A quick update the plastic cup has NOT come off but the metal lever has snapped at the clamp bracket on the anti roll bar

Hence no movement and suspension on low at rear.

Service citroen part no 529117 cost £29.32. Euro car care £18.37

Well guys and gals a quick update.

Bracket changed and suspension running, just changed the 2 rear corner spheres with the Xac tool.Saw the link after making the 'P' remover.
No problems but the anti sink sphere is another story. The supply pipe will not turn and the 9mm flared spanner I have appears slightly too big so will obtain 8mm and try that.Didn't try and force it otherwise car could have been stranded on friends ramp in garage. What a difference 2 corner spheres make.
Will do other mod later and hydroflush the LHM looked grotty on one side but no so bad on the other :?
