Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi have this in my post re MK1 1.9TD est 96-97.not rising to the occasion?
But might not get info as not in listing for locks.
Drivers door is deadlocked now won't open from out or inside but did it on fob not key where as you normally hold key to do other day it was doing the lock/unlock thing as i drove along it would also lock the door as soon...

Is it possible to adjust the C3 Picasso headlights to suit RHD? or does one have to change the whole unit, I cannot see anything on the lenses that indicates hand of drive, so is it possible to adjust the bulb position within the headlamp unit

Hi Everyone

I've recently joined the Forum with my first Citroen, a 2003 C5 2.2HDi semi-auto.
I enjoy the car but I'm quite disappointed with the relatively poor mpg, especially compared to my last car, a Saab 9-3, also a 2.2 Diesel.
I've put this down to one reason, agree/mock at your leisure :lol:

I'm very happy with my 90bhp C5 HDI estate, previously had a 110bhp saloon and surprisingly there feels very little difference in power, although my poverty spec doesn't show it's MPG I'm confident it's getting 60mpg +, best of all I can park it anywhere and no longer worry if it get scratched or dented ( unlike the wife's BMW).. Luvin it!

Hello, was out this morning changing engine oil and antifreeze when I noticed a LHM puddle. It's leaking from the accumulator housing right at the end of a cylinder, there's a 11mm pipe coming out of it. Not sure how to post a picture on here. Is there a seal? This is the 3rd leak now. Sigh.

I have an early Xantia 1.9d. It's a sinker. When I start the car in the mornings in cold or frosty weather the stop light takes a while to go out. The colder it is the longer it seems to take :roll:

Now the weather is warmer, the stop light is going out within two or three seconds when I start up in the mornings.

Can anyone suggest possible...

I have had this on all my Xantias and it seems to be more prevalent the older the LHM is, and the LHM certainly thins out as it gets warmer with use. The LHM also seems to expand with temperature. I have a 2010 C5 Exclusive and occasionally the radio has no sound. It appears to be working fine with everything functioning properly on all sources (including Bluetooth) but just no sound. Hey-up,

I wondered if I could pick a few brains.

The front suspension in my old 1996 Xantia 1.9TD Estate has just become all bouncy as if there is no dampening.
And it's just failed it's MOT due to below points:
- Centre front Fluid suspension unit leaking.
- Front lower Braking system leaking.

I've not had to look at the suspension side of...

chaps.. just started happening..
I did finally fit the clutch switch for the cruise control, then not long after - the radio remote stalk went dead,
then, about the same time, the eco mode is coming on after a few hours with car locked..

is there likely to be a connection between ECO mode and the failed stalk?
does the stalk go into/have...

I'm new to Citroens, having bought a '92 ZX 1.6 Aura as a temporary car last year. Hi all

how the sod do you get this radio out.

As radio has car cd changer button.. I am assuming this would mean there is a audio in no the back some where? as i want to attach a aux to 3mm female jack to feed me ipod direct into it.

Or if any one has a cheap and cheerfull soultion (not keen on them FM Transmitter as quality is crap)

Sorry this isn’t going to help those guys suffering hard front suspension on non hydractive Xantias.

Car went very bouncy on the front end earlier this week. Unlike last time when it was an ecu failure the back stayed soft.
Lexia confirmed that the ecu was switching both front and back to soft.

Both front corners were hard so thinking it could...

I got hydroactive 99 xantia...can I put spheres on it from say a non hydroactive and even a older xantia say 95....as they seam to sound a lot softer...I want a waterbed with wheels now lol

Hi,
Fitted new clutch the weekend and know clutch pedal is rock solid, I tied it up whilst changing clutch I removed slave to see and clutch pedal is still rock solid however I can push slave back in itself so presume maybe I have tied pedal too high and its past a return point maybe it does it need bleeding I can see nipple on slave but can't...

If the pedal's rock solid it's unlikely to be a 'bleeding' problem, more likely that there's a mechanical problem in the pedal or associated parts.

Hi,

My newly-returned-to-the-road Xantia HDi has a peculiar quirk with the brakes. When releasing my foot from the pedal there seems to be a momentary lag before the brakes release. Is this typical of Xantias or is my braking system on the blink?

Hi people, i've just fitted a new timing belt kit & water pump to a 1.4 HDi (engine in vehicle), putting the belt on was really difficult it took ages to get it fully onto the tensioner pulley so i'm reluctant to follow the instructions Haynes gives regarding setting the tension, that if the tensioner indicator is not centred after turning engine...

Be careful here, the reason why you must remove the belt is, if the tensioner pointer has moved the slack in the belt will be in the wrong position hence taking it off starting with crank, pump, cam or whichever way they say to route it. You must adhere to there instructions, if the slack is not taken up in the right position, the belt could...

Hi,

I was planing to buy some Tomason rims for my C5, but what bothers me is that the minimum ET I can find is 40.
I believe original ET for (Adriatique, Atlantique) C5 rims is 33.

What can I expect? Will they fit?

Currently I am runing on 8x18ET33 new ones would be 8.5x18ET40

Did anyone go with aftermarket wheels on their C5's

Hi,

I have a new shape (2008 onwards) berlingo multispace xtr. I cannot find a label for the amount of aircon gas.

Local dealers has said 575g, but I note that the workshop guide says:

BERLINGO II All models - 575 ± 25
BERLINGO (B9) All models - 450 ± 25

As far as I know, the 08 onwards model is a Berlingo II, but it is also a B9. Can...

In Citroen paralance, the Mk 1 Berligo is up till they changed the head lights (around 2001/2?), Mk2 has the bigger headlights, but original shell (also known as M59), then Berling 3 is 08(abouth then?) onwards with the new shape (also known as B9).

I have a 2010 C5 V6 Diesel with the 6speed auto gearbox. It has developed a quirky habit/fault. It seems to be reluctant to change up gears. Firstly it will occasional red-line 2nd gear before going into 3rd (but not always). Secondly it does not want to get into 6th gear until doing over 110Km/h. Hi, hope somebody can help.
I have a 2002 HDI Picasso, and my remote fob has stopped working. Changed the battery twice, using a Halfords Energizer, and still it refuses to work.

Thing would not sync was a right pain.

SO thought would lock doors via the lock button

Did the put key in tourn on ingniation with the lock button on the fob pressed counted to ten.

Both of the indicators of the car flashed and hey presto fully working fob

Even a slight one, even if I'm doing about 40ish in 4th, I have to go to 3rd sometimes 2nd :roll: ....but driving in general, I find it quite sluggish, is it because the engine's not powerfull enough for it's size ie old 8v allbeit 110hp. Hello Guys,

Well it had to happen sooner or later I guess... today the Anti-Polution fault has come on, along with the service lighe, engine management light and ABS light ....

It did not seem to be on limp mode.
Once I switched off the engine, the ABS light did not come on again ... so now the EML, Service and Anti-Polution...

I would be inclined to check the voltages with either a good multi-meter or a proper car electrics tester. I have found that (if the alternator is working) you should get about 14.5 volts at the battery (with the engine running). I am not sure what the voltage would be with the engine off (but somebody will know and post it).

wrecked one of my alloys on series 2 xantai with 195/65/15

wondering if i can use alloys from a c5, if they would fit as they appear to be the same 4 stud fitment and the model i'm looking at had the same tyre size as mu xantia

forgot all about the bolt size as i was too busy getting the bolt spacing and hub diameter right.
Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees.
From the info i've got so far it seems then that the early c5 models have the correct bolt spacing/centrehub ok/but i need to check the stud thread and head sizes .

After having ever worse rear suspension for about 3 months I finally did something.

That seems about right, mine is 3 front and 2 rear (ish).
Then again I know this is not a precise measurement as I have delicate fingers (could have been a concert pianist if, I could play the piano :-D ) rather than muscular chunky ones.

I don't know if its just me but the few Saxo's I've tried seemed to have a slightly better driving position compared to a 106 (new shape) even though they are the same car ? :?: :-k

I don't know if its something simple like the angle of the pedals or column are slightly different or perhaps the seating ?

One of the sidelight bulbs is out on my tailgate cluster.

How do I replace it?

The handbook is very unclear about how to access the bulbs in the tailgate to replace them.

Problem solved.

Discovered that you can access a securing bolt (through a plastic panel) that releases the whole cluster unit outwards. Once out far enough you can unclip bulb holder and replace bulbs.

It's when you're sitting but not moving, no engine running or anything....when you put your hand on it and move it slightly (about an 1 ) there's a clicking noise, it sounds as if it's coming the colum somewhere, something else that's probably wrong :roll:

Is a c5 strut like a xantia strut...I haven't seen one but I'm guessing yes....if its misting on The strut piston he must have pulled down The gaitor?...if so why? Surely The strut can be resealed or such?...I spray duck oil on mine through The gaitor cause if I don't I'll get squeekin which could be same prob as u...might be worth a try...

I’ve this thought the 205/55R16 tyres are looking relatively smaller on my C5 II. The default size supposedly to be 215/55R16.

So in my next change, I’m contemplating to go with one of the following sizes (Forget about the tyre upsize ratio) and I need your advice and comment:

I wonder if someone has experienced a problem with restoring the brake function after pipes replacing in the front suspension of Citroen Xantia 2HDi (2001)?
I would greatly appreciate your advise on this matter.

I do not do it myself. I bought the car to a HiQ garage but they do not know how to get the brakes back after fitting new hydraulic...

I've just bought some Holts Emerald Green for my Xantia, which is a surprisingly good match, from The Range of all places, at £4 a can

Excellent paint, good coverage, dries well allowing for a good flow, and laquers up a treat. Might be worth seeing if Holts do a match for your car.

I read somewhere, but now can't find it, about a 'dead' sphere storing high pressure so could be a blast of LHM when removed. True or false ?

Just doing the rear spheres (so I am under them) as the rear suspension went hard, this is a sphere that's gone but I don't know which one.
I have both spheres started, not too much pressure needed to crack...

Hi All
I Hope someone can help, I've a major window crisis on my xantia, the window electric winder mechanism has broken, well specifically the bit which holds the window up or down, its snapped off its guide rail, and the cable has become entangled.
Basically my window is fully open and cannot be closed.

I have done it, but it is a real pain, and requires patience as the cables keep trying to come off the spool. You don't say which door has the problem. I assumed drivers' door, as this is the one that normally gets the most usage.
