Oh dear, my turn to get Depollution System Faulty!

Post by begins »

Hi all,

It was so sudden. While on the way home just now, the car (Citroen C5 2007 2.0L Petrol) suddenly started to shake and next came the "Depollution System Faulty".
The car started to loose power along the way. The car struggled and managed to bring me home safely.

Now what should I do? I do not have access to Lexia (Should have bought one but I don't know how to buy one and I did ask here but didn't get a reply).

Kindly advise me on how to proceed from here?

Thank you very much.

My one was an open curcuit which cost £220 to fix. Traced it to a rusty wire near the fuel tank. The Eolys was not being put into the fuel as a result and the filter (?) Was 50% clogged. To be honest never noticed a difference after the recharge. Doesn't have that occassional whiff.
C'est pas possible!

Bad luck...

If the depollution fault is up, then it should be possible to get an OBD fault out of it - Lexia would be best, but OBD will do in this case I expect.

However, sudden rough running and loss of power, I'd be thinking about a failed coil pack.

Shouldn't be an Eolys fault here as it's a petrol.

Given the reported vibration, that does sound like a failed coil pack or similar.

My suggestion though would be to try to find someone local to you with a Lexia, a session on that should point you in the right direction.

Would agree, sudden juddering and loss of power sounds like loss of a cylinder - ie coil pack, injector etc. if it clears then the se are the most obvious. If continuous then you might feel pulses on the injector lines etc. which might give an indication of cylinder.
if continuous then a quick compression test to rule out big problems.

If you can get a live diagnostic might help. Almost certain you will have an OBD fault code.

Hi all,

Thank you very much to all for the suggestions and advice.

I am glad that the problem has been resolved.

Initially, I tried resetting the battery, cleaned the throttle body, Cleaned the air-intake and changed all the spark plugs but to no avail.

In the end, I have no choice but to change the ignition coil and it solved the problem. The "Depollution System Faulty" just disappeared !
