Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Evening All

I'm just seeing if any nice people on here could throw up any ideas on a fault I have on my 2003 C8 2.0 HDi. Not long after I purchased about 4 months ago and the fault has been intermittent since the first day I have had it but is no becoming more frequent.

from reading this post the OP says the diameter from the 1.8 and 2.0 is similar, but very different from 2.2.
Does this mean you can not use HA3 spheres on HA3+? as in they wont fit at all as the hole size is much bigger?
i'd like to try HA3 Comfort spheres and keep my central ones to retain sport...

morning all 8-)

chaps, yesterday the C5 wouldn't start, immobiliser fault.. for the third time since I got the car..
the usual banging about on the engine-side fuse box made some clicks but wouldn't cure the problem this time..

I got the lexia on last night, and the ECU was locked, the key was no longer paired...
spare key unlocked ECU, cleared...

Any ideas re this; my radio/cassette is working fine, its just the lit display that has decided to give up the ghost. Its fine in the daylight as the display is working fine as its an LCD display but when the sun goes down its a bit of pot luck with the radio......luckily I don't retune it much so know where the various stns are by judicious use...

You've just reminded me that the radio backlight is out on my TD. I've had the car for getting on three years and it was out when I bought it.

The issue continues....
I've carried out some investigations:

Vacuum pump is working (tested the brake pedal) some one said this is linked to the turbo charger (not sure about that)
MAF was replaced a year ago - does disconnecting this test whether it's at fault?
EGR - could this be causing these symptoms? there appears to be some small solenoid...

Hi, my series 1 Xantia. just noticed that I can pull the positive wire out of the clamp , with ease ! my question is, should I be replacing the positive lead or is there a way of repairing the lead. ( I have tried to tighten the two screws on the battery clamp, but it is still very loose ! any advice gratefully received, Terry. :)

There is a very common misconception that heavy duty clamps are better.
Not so.
You should always choose the clamp that fits your cable. It should be barely possible to get all the strands into the battery clamp, with the screws out as far as they can go without getting lost.

I recently brought a 2000 X reg Citroen Xsara 1.9lx D with a Bosch fuel pump.

Unfortunately I am having a slight problem with it at the moment and I was wondering if there are any experts on the DW8 engine that know what I should be checking.

Hi,

I know you've said that the EGR is disabled but have you checked that it isn't actually leaking exhaust gasses back into the inlet manifold. From experience I can say that they do stick open so just disconnecting the actuator won't always work - assuming that is what you mean?

Hi,

The engine management light has come on and the car is intermittantly losing power. It seems to only happen when the fuel is below a quarter tank if I top it up it seems to run ok until the fuel drops again.

Hey, it looks like I'll have to replace ignition switch with 2 x toggle and 1 x push button switches.
Just wanted to run this by anyone who might have done the same thing :/

Design:
Toggle switch on Grey and Brown connectors.
Push button switch on Black connector.

Operation to start and run car:
First: Short and hold shorted the two Grey...

Someone has already taken a wire from the grey connector pin 2, fitted a spade connector and wired to one of the fuse positions in the middle of the passenger fuse box.

Hi, just picked up my 2006 C4 VTS and found the radio reception is really bad. It has rt3 navigation/telephone (no telephone reception but navigation seems to work), just wondered what the most likely cause/where to start?

Hello All,
I recently replaced the crank pulley on our Picasso as it decided to disintegrate. All was well after the new pulley was fitted.
A week later, I experienced a loss of power and a slightly rattling engine accompanied by clouds of black smoke from the exhaust.

I managed to limp home but realised it was an intermittent problem -...

More info.

A superficial look at the pipework - all appears to be fine.

One thing of note: there is a faint hissing sound coming from the turbo charger side of the engine after switching off. It lasts for about a minute - sounds a bit like the sound of a coolant header tank cap being removed gradually.

Any thoughts?

Can anybody help please..... I was out and about yesterday, got about a mile from home and the Depollution System Fault appeared on screen, the car went into a bit of a limp mode. Hi

Just found out that the coil suppressor capacitor is broken. I can switch on the engine and drive and actually didn't feel any change. I had a post in which I told that there is a smell of petrol coming from the muffler and an HC of 130. I remember that in the old ignitions systems it was connected across the platinum contacts of the contact...

The capacitor comes with a built in 100mm fly lead, and the other half of the lead (to the left of the red joiner) is half of the original capacitors wire which is moulded into the plug. I don't see any deterioration of the wire in the time it has been fitted.

Just a quick question,

Is checking the fans for operation the same as per the 1.9TD ie to check both fans working full speed pull the brown plug on the condensor?

or

Is it different for the 2.0 HDi 90 hp.

Hi Kenny,

As you know removing he connector puts the fans onto top speed with the key turned ready to start, as a safety feature should the sensor etc., fail.

On our 2.0L HDi 2000 Estate it is a blue plug connected to a blue sensor on the passenger side of the engine adjacent to the throttle control.

Need to fit new front pads, had the caliper off earlier but couldnt get the piston back, then i googled and searched and found they dont just push back but wind back ? am i the only one thinking newer and newer cars just get over complicated ?
Is it easy to wind them back without THE tool ?

Just to add, the spanner for unlocking an angle grinder is a perfect fit for the C5's front callipers. With the bottom slide pin removed and the calliper fully rotated upwards, there's juuuust enough room to get a full 180° turn with the spanner. Just about to get C5 MOT'd but have a depollution fault which I can't clear. I have narrowed it down to a sticky EGR valve but won't have time to do anything about it before the MOT.

Will it fail the MOT with this fault as it means the engine symbol is lit up on dash and I had heard that any illuminated warning lights would fail MOT.

fed up with 2002 c5 hdi wipers come on on there own lights come on on there own radiator fans come on when engine is cold water temp read's hot and stop sighing comes on speedo and rev counter both started to read low ie 40 reads 20 when ignition is turned of both pointers go past zero and rev counter reads zero at tick over other than that its...

Some of you Prehaps most of you know I do work on engines personally. Bought up on Petrol my fourth car was a bx 1.9 d.
After that I'd many of citroen in diesel form. I had then in recent years after teaching my self how to repair an xud inside out from broken cam belts etc helped a number of local Citroën owners which continues to this day....

Its getting a bit of a judder when cold and it seems a bit snatchy when warm - given its done 130K miles ( and is usually pretty much full on my ownership) its probably due a change soon. Think its on a DMF too, is it worth changing it for a solid one at the same time and what, if any are the drawbacks?

Hey chaps!
i've managed to get the clutch done on the car, thank you all massively for all the advice, took 2 goes as first one clutch fork didn't locate but onlu noticed after everything was bolted back on and I went to put the clutch arm on! :oops:

Now, 2 questions!
1! How the Hell do you get the Spring back onto the end of the clutch arm...

Helo all.... i have 1999 xantia with chronic smell inside car when interior fan is on wether set to hot or cold, i presume its the matrix even though its got full main dealer history and i was wondering how much i would i be expecting to pay a citroen specialist (not main dealer but very experianced) to replace matrix. As the title says. The c2 is knackered. I parked it last friday and has not been used since. When I tried to start it yesterday the gear indicator says 1 and the car wont start. Helpful neighbour left his big black bin lying down in the access to parking! Now my bumper has dislodged itself from my car and stubbornly refuses to go back on.

Its the passenger side, from the light towards the tire, its sticking out just a little bit, it seems to slot into the wing somehow, but couldnt see how to do it in the wind and rain...

It'll probably just want a good banging into place with the long clip which runs the length of the wing. There should then be a trim pop fixing which goes into the hold in the bumper and through a hole in the wing, just inside the wheel arch.

I replaced the drive belt and pulley as they were squeaking, last weekend. Co incidentally I started getting alternator noise/breakthrough on the radio on FM.. I'd experienced it before on AM and LW but never on FM. It wasn't continuous but seemed to be getting worse.

I have a depollution system fault when I start the car. Garage said that the DFP was probably cracked and would cost €1200 to replace. I have since found out about getting it removed. There are garages in Dublin looking for €550 to do this but as far as I can see, they are just cracking the filter out and remapping the ECU.

For the record, the newer cars do use an OBD style connector.

We did look on the Lexia to try and turn on the windows up functionality, but we looked for at least an hour and couldn't find anything! Can anyone say for sure that you can turn it on using the Lexia? And if so, where exactly is the option?

I've developed a leak from the front rigidity regulator on my 1999 Xantia 110 Hdi exclusive. It does not appear to be coming from the sphere seal or running down pipework from other areas and also does not leak when stationary - only when its driven - so its difficult to see where its coming from as the whole regulator and underside of the car...

on my C5, I think you just press the Trafficmaster button,next to your right leg twice (if thats what you are referring to) that goes between Manual or Automatic. Manual would turn it off completely, which is how I have mine,however if you get a problematic battery the darn thing turns itself back on again. You can press the stalk end button twice...
